The computer application ability that can meet the needs of the society and the profession itself has become a must-have quality for qualified university graduates of all majors.

The mutual integration, crossover and penetration of various majors including liberal arts and information technology is the development trend of modern science and a growth point of new disciplines.To strengthen the computer education of various majors in liberal arts (including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, and management), and to offer computer courses with professional characteristics that can meet the needs of society and majors for liberal arts talents is to cultivate interdisciplinary , An important part of the comprehensive liberal arts generalist.

In order to better guide the computer teaching work of various majors in liberal arts, the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education organized the formulation of the "Basic Requirements for Computer Teaching in Colleges and Universities with Liberal Arts Majors" (hereinafter referred to as "Basic Requirements").

The "Basic Requirements" divides the undergraduate liberal arts computer teaching setting into three series according to professional categories: literature, history, philosophy and law teaching, economic management and art; according to the teaching level, it is divided into computer major public courses, computer minor public courses and computer There are three levels of background professional courses; according to the type of institution, it is divided into three types: research type, teaching research type and teaching type.

The first level of teaching content is something that students of a certain series of liberal arts (such as art) should know and understand.The teaching content consists of computer basic knowledge (software and hardware platforms), microcomputer operating system and its use, office software application, multimedia knowledge and application foundation, computer network foundation, information retrieval and utilization foundation, Internet basic application, e-government foundation, e-commerce 15 modules such as foundation and web design foundation are constructed.These contents not only meet the needs of the society for college students in computer, but also lay the foundation for students to further study in the direction of information technology application that is closely integrated with majors, and play a fundamental and leading role in the cultivation of college students' information quality.

The second level is above the first level, computer courses opened to meet the common needs of certain majors in the same series (not just the needs of a certain major).The teaching content either goes beyond a corresponding module in Level [-] in depth, or extends to areas not covered in Level [-].This part of teaching determines to a greater extent the ability and level of students to use computers to solve problems in their majors.

The third level is to use computer tools and rely on computer software and hardware to open courses unique to a certain major, that is, the so-called professional courses.

The computer application technology series planning textbooks for colleges and universities published by Zhejiang University Press are compiled according to the "Basic Requirements", which can meet the basic needs of the first and second level teaching of various professional computer courses in major liberal arts.It is believed that the publication of this series of books will be conducive to the construction of high-quality liberal arts computer textbooks and excellent courses in my country's colleges and universities, and will play a positive role in the great journey from a large education country to a powerful education country.
