Chapter 3 12 dancing little princesses (1)

1.

They went on down, down, down, until at last they came to a passage.There was a door at the side of the passage, fastened with a latch.

The eldest princess opened the door, and at once they saw a lovely little wood, with leaves all of silver, which shone brightly in the moonlight.

They passed through a second grove, where the leaves were all gold, and after this a third grove, where the leaves were all diamonds.

Finally, the watcher saw a large lake.On the shore of the lake, there were twelve small boats with awnings, and twelve princes were sitting in the boats. They held oars and were waiting for the arrival of the princesses.

The princesses got into the boat separately, and Mike slipped into the boat of the youngest prince.

The boat glides quickly, but Lina's boat is too heavy and always lags behind.

"I've never been so slow before, what's the matter?" asked the princess.

"I don't know," replied the Prince, "I've been rowing very hard."

At this time, the Watcher saw the cheerful music of violins, drums, and trumpets coming from a colorful castle on the other side of the lake.
