I was the emperor in the Ming Dynasty

Chapter 808 The Legend of the Bodhidharma Scroll

Chapter 808 The Legend of the Bodhidharma Scroll

Jiming Temple is located on the eastern foot of Jilong Mountain in Xuanwu District, Nanjing. It covers an area of more than 300 acres and is of a grand scale. It was first built in the first year of Yongkang in the Western Jin Dynasty, and has a history of more than [-] years.

It is one of the most famous Buddhist temples near Nanjing, as famous as Qixia Temple and Dingshan Temple.

Jiming Temple was not called Jiming Temple at first, but Tongtai Temple.

It is Tongtai Temple that makes Jiming Temple famous all over the world, becoming the most famous temple in the world and one of the holy places of Buddhism.

Among them, the most important contribution was actually made by Emperor Wu of Nanliang who sacrificed his life four times.

The so-called sacrificing one's life is nothing but the beautification of later generations.

In fact, Emperor Wu of Liang believed in Buddhism very much at that time.

In order to get the ministers to support him in building a Buddhist temple in a legitimate way, Emperor Wu of Liang played tricks.

He actually gave up his throne and became a monk on Jilong Mountain.

In order to welcome the emperor back, the ministers had to raise money to redeem him.

And such absurd things, Emperor Wu of Liang did a total of four times.

It can be seen how much the emperor loved Buddhism.

But it was precisely because of his persistence that Jilongshan, which was originally an uneducated place, became the first of the 480 temples in the Southern Dynasties.

It is only then that this temple, which has been famous for thousands of years, is still prosperous and full of incense.

Of course, the legend of Jiming Temple is far more than the four sacrifices of Emperor Wu of Liang, there are many legends about it.

According to legend, Bodhidharma, an eminent monk from India, lived here when he came to the Central Plains from India to preach.

And here I know the difference of Central Plains Buddhism.

After talking with Emperor Wu of Liang, I found that although Emperor Wu of Liang believed in Buddhism, he didn't care about the integration of Buddhism and Central Plains culture.

So he went north to the Northern Wei Dynasty. After facing the wall in Songshan Mountain, Henan Province for nine years, he went out of the mountain to create Zen, which has influenced the Chinese Buddhist culture for thousands of years.

And Bodhidharma naturally became the first patriarch of Zen Buddhism in China.

Even with his own efforts, he turned Shaolin Temple in Songshan into a sacred place of Buddhism in the world.

And left behind "Washing the Marrow Sutra", "Yi Jin Jing" and other Buddhist masterpieces.

As for whether Jiming Temple belongs to Zen or Xinzong, I will not mention it for the time being.

But the achievements of Patriarch Bodhidharma are obvious to all.

After that, the small courtyard where Patriarch Bodhidharma lived in Jiming Temple became the sacred place in the hearts of all monks and monks in Jiming Temple.

But why was such an important place won by Tang Sai'er in the end, and finally became her current residence.

This actually starts with the so-called Heavenly Book that Tang Saier discovered back then.

She was born at the junction of Henan and Shandong, and grew up in this place.

Because Songshan Mountain in Henan is one of the holy places of Buddhism, with this foundation, the White Lotus Sect was very popular among the people at that time.

She practiced martial arts since she was a child, believed in Buddhism, and later became the leader of the White Lotus Sect uprising army, which actually has a lot to do with this.

Tang Saier's many legends are actually understandable.

Only a girl who grew up in the countryside, whether she has a famous teacher to guide her, why she has practiced martial arts that can be called invincible in the world in a short period of time is very puzzling.

Although she has been declaring to the outside world that she has received the book of war and the divine sword bestowed by heaven.

But in fact, why her martial arts has improved by leaps and bounds in a short period of time, the various reasons are only clear to her.

She did get a volume of cheats by accident, but it wasn't some kind of fairy art, but a volume of mind script written by a disciple of Patriarch Bodhidharma back then.

Master Bodhidharma's martial arts and Buddhism are naturally rare in the world, and it is not an exaggeration to be called the greatest master in the history of the Central Plains.

The secret volume of the mind he left behind is naturally quite impressive.

Coupled with Tang Sai'er's natural talents, it was only in a few short years that her kung fu improved by leaps and bounds, reaching a state of perfection.

Because of her high martial arts, she was misunderstood by many people. She is really the reincarnation of the Buddha Mother.

Because of the needs of the uprising at that time, she did not clarify, but followed the misunderstanding of everyone, and fabricated rumors that she had accidentally obtained the Art of War Heavenly Book.

But that secret scroll was handwritten by Bodhidharma's disciple after all, and it is very old, so the contents of the secret scroll are somewhat incomplete.

Tang Sai'er has basically practiced the kung fu on the secret scroll for so many years, but he still can't go any further.

So she searched everywhere, and even went to the Sutra Pavilion of Shaolin Temple in Songshan Mountain several times to look at the scriptures left by Bodhidharma.

It is a pity that although Shaolin Temple claims that martial arts in the world come from Shaolin.

However, more than half of the world-renowned Shaolin Temple's 72 unique skills were created by later disciples.

There are not many martial arts created by Bodhidharma himself.

Moreover, Patriarch Bodhidharma's achievements are too high, not only martial arts are unparalleled in the world, but Buddhism is even more unpredictable.

With the blessing of Buddhism, he can maximize the power of the martial arts created by him.

But ordinary people need to spend decades just to learn a unique skill, so how can they have time to study and understand the Buddhadharma.

Therefore, the martial arts mentality left by Bodhidharma in Shaolin Temple is not suitable for Tang Saier to study and practice.

Later she summed it up.

In fact, the mental method she practiced was not the Buddhist inner strength that Bodhidharma modified later, but the mental method that she practiced before Bodhidharma became enlightened.

This mental method is also extremely profound, but compared with the books such as the Sutra of Washing the Marrow and Yi Jin Jing created by Bodhidharma later, it has less precipitation in Buddhism and a little more sharpness of killing.

Therefore, Bodhidharma, who practiced this technique in the early stage, can be regarded as a top master, but he can't be called a great master.

The current Tang Sai'er has almost reached the level when the founder Bodhidharma first came to China.

If you want to go further, you must follow the path that Bodhidharma walked back then, devote yourself to the study of Buddhism, or follow his old path, or open up a path of your own.

Therefore, Tang Sai'er took a lot of effort and made a bet with the abbot of Jiming Temple.

I won the half-year residency right of this Bodhidharma courtyard.

I just want to use some things left by Bodhidharma back then to comprehend higher Buddhist secrets.

As for what the bet was and what method Tang Sai'er used to win the bet with the abbot old monk, Tang Sai'er didn't tell outsiders, and the old monk didn't tell outsiders either.

But nothing more than two reasons.

First of all, Tang Sai'er's martial arts is already a rare opponent in the world, and it is actually not difficult to win an old monk.

The second is the secret volume of Tang Saier's practice, which can be regarded as the origin of all kung fu created by Bodhidharma, and has great reference value for the old monk to comprehend Buddhist martial arts.

Either that reason played a role.

Losing another hospital to Tang Sai'er is actually nothing to be ashamed of.
