Chapter 17 Appendix
Rule 1.
Respond to another person's proposal, idea, or topic with a "Yes, and..." as a way to enrich the topic while responding and keep the conversation flowing.

Rule 2.
Respond to any topics that come up in front of you, because they probably came up for a reason.

Rule 3.
Never ask someone to answer broad questions, as this can feel burdensome and may interrupt someone's banter.

Rule 4.
Be in the moment and be as observer as possible so that you can grasp the ins and outs of the interaction.

Rule 5.
Please provide details that allow the other party to refer, respond, and advance.

Rule 6.
Never start a sentence with "no", because it ignores the direction the other party wants to chat and makes it difficult for both parties to work towards a common goal.

Rule 7.
Keep pushing the interaction forward, stagnation means failure.

Rule 8.
The purpose of improv is to entertain the other actors and the audience and create interesting situations.

Rule 11.
Integrate previous specific points into interactions from different contexts to create hilarious laughs.

Rule 12.
Actors are called contestants, and acting is considered a sport, because like any sport, it takes constant practice to be the best you can be.

Rule 13.
Improv is all about interacting with other people, and you can’t engage with other people if you’re always eager to have an opinion rather than listening.Sometimes, you just need to keep your mouth shut and be a listener.

Rule 14.
If all else fails, talk about history, philosophy, or use a metaphor.
