Chapter 8 Jenny and the Drakes

Chapter 8 Jenny and the Drakes

Once upon a time there was a man who was isolated from the world and lived in seclusion in the wilderness. He had nothing but a flock of sheep, and lived by selling milk, wool, and buying bread, and at the same time did some traffic and sold wooden spoons. His family consisted of a wife and a young daughter, and much later the wife became pregnant again. On the night the child was born, he went to the nearest village to ask for a midwife, and on the way he met a priest who asked to stay with him.The master readily agreed, and took the priest home.As there was no one around here to christen the child, the master asked the priest to help him, and the child was finally named Jenny.

As time went by, Jenny's parents passed away one after another, leaving only him and his sister to depend on each other.Soon, the life of the siblings fell into a difficult situation, so they decided to go out to find a way out. While packing, the elder sister found that the priest had left a knife for her godson, and gave it to her younger brother.

Afterwards, the siblings drove the three remaining sheep on the road. After wandering for three days, the siblings met a man with three dogs, who proposed to exchange animals with the siblings. The siblings happily accepted the arrangement, and then they set out on the road with the animals they exchanged.

One day, Jenny and his sister came to a huge castle in which forty Drakes lived. When they heard that Jenny was coming, they fled into the deep underground.

When Jenny saw that the castle was empty, he stayed with his sister.Every day, he took the weapons left by the Draks and went out to hunt.

One day, Jenny was out hunting, and one of the Drakes came up from the ground to get food without knowing that there was someone in the castle. He was terrified to see Jenny's sister there, but she told him not to be afraid. They also gradually fell in love with each other.Every time Jenny went hunting, his sister would call the Drake up.In this way, the two continued to express their love for each other, until finally they were married, and Jenny didn't know it at all.Later, the sister regretted it, fearing that Jenny would be angry when she knew the truth, but it was too late.

One day, the Drak came to her and said, "You must pretend to be sick. When Jenny asks what you want to eat, you say: 'Cherries.' When he asks where to find cherries, you must answer:' In a garden a day's walk from here.' And then your brother will go away and never come back, for my three brothers who live there will entertain him well."

Jenny's sister did as the Drake told her to do.Jenny set off the next day to look for cherries with his three dogs.On reaching the cherry garden, he dismounted, drank some water from the spring, and fell into a deep sleep. The Drakes surrounded him and were about to eat him, but the three dogs pounced on the Drakes, tore them to pieces, and then dug a grave on the ground with their paws, The drakes buried them so Jenny wouldn't see the bodies. When Jenny woke up and saw his dogs covered in blood, he thought they must have caught the beast somewhere. But when he saw that he hadn't left anything to eat, Jenny was very angry.Nevertheless, he picked some cherries and brought them back to his sister.

Upon hearing that Jenny had returned, the Drake was terrified and fled underground.Jenny's sister said she was well after eating the cherries.

One day later, after Jenny had gone hunting, the Drake crawled out again and suggested to his sister to feign illness again. When her brother asked her what she wanted to eat, she replied "grapefruit", and he asked her where to find grapefruit, and she had to answer: "in a garden, two days away from here." This time, Jenny will definitely die , for there dwelt six brothers of the Drak, each with two heads.

The sister did as he said, and Jenny set off the next day with his three dogs.As soon as he reached the garden he dismounted, intending to sit down and rest for a while, but fell asleep. At first, three drakes surrounded him, ready to eat him. When they were killed by dogs, the other three who came up met the same fate. The dogs dug another grave, and buried the Drake's body in it, so that the master would not see it.Jenny woke up and saw some dogs covered in blood, just like last time, he thought they had killed a beast, but when he saw that nothing was left for him, he couldn't help being very angry. However, he picked the grapefruit and brought it back to his sister. My sister said she felt much better after eating it.Upon hearing that Jenny had returned, the Drake was frightened and ran away again.

Another day later, when Jenny had gone hunting, the Drake came to his sister again, and advised her to pretend to be sick again, and said she wanted some pears, which she planted in a garden three days' journey from the castle. As long as Jenny accepted the request, he would never come back, because there lived nine Drake brothers, each with three heads.

My sister did as she was told.Jenny took his dog and went looking for pears the next day.As soon as he reached the garden, he lay down to rest, and soon fell asleep.

Immediately afterwards, three Drakes came up first, ready to eat him. When they were killed by the dogs, the other six drakes came up together and fought with the dogs for a long time. The noise of the fight woke up Jenny, and he killed the Drake, finally understanding why the three dogs were covered in blood.

Afterwards, Jenny freed all the prisoners captured by the Drakes, one of whom was the daughter of a certain king.Out of gratitude, she wanted Jenny to be her husband, but he shied away and said, "For my kindness in saving you, please take all the blind and lame people who pass by here into the castle. ’ The princess granted his request, and gave him a ring when he left.

After picking the pears, Jenny took them back to her sister. My sister said she felt much better after eating it.As soon as the Drake heard that Jenny had returned safely for the third time, he was so frightened that he fled underground. After Jenny went out to hunt the next day, the Drake crawled out and said to his sister: "Now we are really finished, unless you get out of his mouth how can he get so much strength, and then we both try to get rid of him .”

One day, Jenny came back from hunting, and when he was sitting by the fire with his sister at night, his sister begged him to tell him where his strength came from, and Jenny replied: "My strength is in two fingers. If you tie them Together, all my strength is gone."

"I don't believe it," she said, "unless I see it with my own eyes."

So he asked his sister to tie his fingers with string, and immediately became powerless. Then, my sister called the Drake up.He came forward, gouged out Jenny's eyes, threw him to his dogs, and threw him into a dry well.

Just at this time, some travelers came to the well to draw water, and heard Jenny groaning from the bottom of the well. They approached and asked where he was.Jenny begged them to fish him out of the well, for he was a poor wretch.

The traveler let a rope down and pulled him up to see the light of day again.Only then did he realize for the first time that he was blind, and he begged the traveler to take him to the princess he had saved, saying that they would be rewarded for their labors.

After being brought there, he immediately begged to see the princess. The princess did not recognize him until he took out the ring that had been given to him.

When the princess learned of his experience, she summoned all the witches in the country, hoping to learn about the whereabouts of Jenny's eyes from them.In the end, she did find a witch who claimed to know where the eyes went and could restore them. The witch went directly to the castle where Jenny's sister and the Drakes lived, and threw some food to the dogs, and the dogs spit out their eyes. She took the eyes back, put them back in Jenny's sockets, and he saw again as usual.

Afterwards, Jenny went back to the Drake's castle, killed both the Drake and his sister, and then took his dog back to the princess and married the princess.
