Chapter 47
[Original text]

There is a way in the world, but [1] go on horses and use dung [2]; there is no way in the world, and soldiers and horses [3] are born in the suburbs.

There is no crime greater than desire, no disaster greater than dissatisfaction, and no crime greater than wanting to gain. Therefore, knowing enough is always enough.

【Note】

[1] But: retreat, retreat, put back.

[2] Dung: farming.

[3] Military horse: war horse.

【Analysis】

If there is "Tao" in the world, the country can send war horses back to the farmland to fertilize the farmland; if there is no "Tao" in the world, then those ponies just born in the fields may be used as war horses.

The greatest criminal is the thing that can arouse people's desire, the greatest disaster is not knowing how to satisfy, and the greatest sin is often wanting everything. Therefore, if you know how to be satisfied, you will always be satisfied.
