Chapter 5 The World Tree and the Nine Worlds

Yggdrasil is an ash tree, perfect, most beautiful, and enormous.It grows between the nine worlds and connects the nine worlds to each other.It is extremely tall, extremely outstanding.The branches at the top of the tree even reach higher than the sky.

This big ash tree is so tall that its root system grows in the three worlds and is irrigated by the three-eyed spring.

The first root system of a big tree is buried deepest.It extends to the underworld of Niflheim, the place that existed before all other places.In the middle of the dark world is the ever-swirling Hevagmir.The sound of turbulent water was loud, like a boiling kettle.The dragon Nidhogg lives in this water, constantly gnawing the roots from the bottom of the trees.

The second root of the great tree extended to the realm of the frost giants, to the spring that belonged to Mimir.

A great eagle perched on the tallest branch of the world tree, and it knew many things.There is also an eagle, which perches between the eagle's eyes.

There is also a squirrel named Radatusk living on the World Tree.The messenger carries rumors and messages from the dreaded Nidhogg the Corpse Eater to the Treetop Eagle and back again.Squirrel lies at both ends and enjoys the conflict he provokes.

Four stags gnawed at the huge branches of the World Tree, devouring leaves and bark.There are also countless poisonous snakes gnawing at the roots of the tree.

The world tree can be climbed.It was on this tree that Odin hanged himself as a sacrifice, turning the Yggdrasil into a gallows, for which he was called the god of gallows.

The gods do not climb the world tree.They use Bifrost, the Rainbow Bridge, to travel between several worlds.Only God can use the Rainbow Bridge.If frost giants or other giants try to climb up Asgard via the Rainbow Bridge, their feet will be burned.

This is the nine worlds:
Home of the Asgard Aesir Protoss.This is Odin's home.

The place where the light elves live in Alfheim.These elves are as dazzling as the sun and the stars.

Nidweal is also sometimes called Safa Tafhan.This is where the Dwarves (sometimes called Dark Elves) live, and they make magical things down the mountain.

Midgard is where women and men live, our home.

The Jotunheim frost giants and mountain giants roam, live, and build their homes here.

The place where the Warner Protoss lived in Vanaheim.Asa and Warner are both protoss, and they coexist peacefully because a peace agreement was signed.Many Vanir gods lived in Asgard along with the Aesir.

The dark foggy world of Niflheim.

The world of Muspar fire, where Surt waits.

Finally there is a place named after its ruler - Hela, the Underworld.The undead who failed to die bravely in the battle will come here after death.

The last roots of the Yggdrasil reach a spring in Asgard, where the Asir lived.Every day, the gods meet here.In the last days of the world, they gathered here, ready to go to the final battlefield of Ragnarok.It is called the Fountain of Urd.

There was the Nuon, the Fate, and the three wise sisters watched over the spring, and tended it with care, and made the earth coat the roots of Yggdrasil.This spring belongs to Ould, she is destiny, destiny, your past.With her is Verdani, whose name means "being formed" - she is now.Then there's Skoolt, whose name means "those who want," and who represents the future.These norn will decide your life.
