Chapter 86: The Price

Luo Ai continues, "For now, let's have the two's relationship grow on their own."

Liu Fei Fei nods her head, "Alright. Now let's eat our desserts." Venting out all of her frustration about Lu Chen made her want to eat more sweets.

"You don't have to tell me twice, sister."

While the two girls are eating their desserts, Lu Chen and Ye Meixiu finished their meal.

"That was really good." Lu Chen said as he finished his cup of earl grey. Even a non-sweet lover like himself thought the cake was very delicious. This cafe lives up to its reputation.

"Mmmhmm. But I do feel like I could have eaten more if we had time." Ye Meixiu nods her head in agreement with what Lu Chen said. But the second part was said in a mumble so Lu Chen couldn't hear. She's still hungry as the number of sweets she ate only made her stomach full by a fourth.

Even though Ye Meixiu tried to hide it from Lu Chen, Lu Chen is only a few centimeters away from her? He almost fell off his seat from what she said as well! Sister, you had just eaten eight desserts! How could you still want to eat more?! Where does it all go? Ye Meixiu had not only finished the five desserts with lightning speed, but she had also ordered three more!

As Lu Chen was thinking about what kind of magic is placed onto Ye Meixiu's stomach to make it into a bottomless abyss, the waiter comes back and said,

"Here is the bill, sir." The waiter placed the bill towards Lu Chen and left the table.

"Brother Chen, give me the bill. I'll pay for the meal for today." Ye Meixiu's original goal is to treat Lu Chen to a meal. It's thanks for saving her from Gao Jinhai. Before she could take the bill away from him, Lu Chen grabs a hold of it first.

"Nonsense, you brat. How can I let my little sister treat me to a meal? I will be the one to pay for it today." Lu Chen knew she wanted to show her goodwill from yesterday. However,

When the cashier took the paper from Lu Chen, a strange expression formed on her face. 

"...Sir, the total cost for your meal is 10,340 yuan." The moment the cashier said the price, she couldn't help but be surprised by how much it was. She even double-checked if her math was right. And it was. 

How could somebody waste this much money on desserts?!

However, the expression on the cashier's face is nothing compared to the one Lu Chen is making. His face turned as pale as a sheet of paper. He thought he heard incorrectly. Is there an extra added in there?! He double-checks with the cashiers, "Can you repeat the cost again?"

"It's 10,340 yuan, sir." The cashier said again.

My goodness. Can I take back what I said about the pride of an older brother? Screw that pride! Lu Chen instantly regrets what he had said to Ye Meixiu. But he can’t go back on his words as he painfully hands the money to the cashier and turns to Ye Meixiu, "Meixiu, let's go." Staying here any longer made Lu Chen's heart hurt.

"Aright, brother Chen." Ye Meixiu said with a large grin on her face.

"What's with that big smile?" Lu Chen's brows raised, looking at her very suspiciously. Are you happy that you bankrupted your brother's wallet?

"Nothing." Ye Meixiu couldn't tell him that she had seen his face turning hollow when he heard the cost of the desserts. Brother Chen's aching face is so funny!

While the two of them are walking back to the school, neither of them talked. Only tranquility and silence are there. The two had only one thought going through their minds,

What should I chat with brother Chen/ Meixiu about? The two didn't know what to say to the other, and this awkward silence continued. Both of them, trying to think of the best topic to start a conversation with the other.

Finally, the one to break the awkward silence is Lu Chen. He asks her, “Hey, Meixiu.”
