Chapter 11:confrontations

I walked through the cavern following the sounds of sobs echoing off the walls. Water dripped from the stalactites hanging from the walls, the air felt very moist and cool. As I made my way deeper into the cavern I found Flora sitting on a boulder her arms wrapped around her knees, tears pouring down her face. She stared at me through her swollen red eyes.

"Ellie?!" she sobbed.

"Do you know how worried everyone is about you?" I sighed, hands on my hips.

She lept up from her seat on threw herself at me embracing me. I hugged her back moments like these were rare for Flora.

"What were you thinking??" My face softened as I wiped away her tears.

"I just couldn't do it...all those men...none of them love me! The only reason they're there is because they are guaranteed a spot on the throne."

"I can't imagine the amount of stress that has been inflicted upon you, but isn't it kinda your duty to the kingdom?"

"You have it easy you know. You get to do whatever you want with no responsibility."

"What do you mean?"

"I was given an ultimatum by your father. Either bring you home or die, and if I bring you home I will be forced to marry Eric."

"Who?"

"The creepy stableboy."

"That perverted old man that's always in the stables?"

"That's the one." I chuckle, how could she this oblivious?

"Wait so you either marry this man or you die?"

"That's what your father said."

"So it makes more sense to not bring me back then, what's he gonna do hunt you down?"

"I don't know he just might."

We fell silent, just then we heard a loud shuffle in the darkest part of the cavern.

"What was that??" My heart was racing, " Princess get behind me!" I pulled out my sword preparing myself for the worst.
