A Failure's hopeful Journey

You Xi Wang did not advance and crouched down on the ground, spectating the fight between the girl and the mammoth known as Terra Dame. This beast was as big as a mammoth from the earth, its skin was grey, big red eyes on its head was a horn which was four feet long, the horn was flat at the end. It was recorded in the books that this beast can ram whole mountains flat and was used for bulldozing in the history of Metropia.

The girl had graceful movement and her sword was dominating. You Xi Wang nodded in admiration, but when he looked towards the beast, he shook his head. He looked over his shoulder, Maya was also watching intently, he raised his left hand and stroked her neck as he said, "Do you see this battle, Maya? The girl is strong, but she lacks experience. Remember this whenever you hunt, aim for the vital points, in case of this big guy here, the joints are vital." Maya nodded, although she was a cub. She was treated with a lot of beast cores which had enhanced her IQ, and now she could understand him.

The fight kept going on and the girl's weakness became apparent. She was getting tired. Terra Dame(s) had a dark skill, vitality dip. This was dark skill overtime in the battle, the user's opponent will begin losing his/her prowess and strength ultimately dying. The battle dragged on and the girl's attack was losing the strength behind them. Terra Dame ran towards her intending to ram her into a meat paste.

The girl dodged the charge attack but her foot slipped over some pebbles and she fell on her butt, Terra dame was an agile beast despite its big size, it turned around and ran towards its prey with even more excitement. The girl was running on fumes and just as her body fell it was like the last nail to her coffin. A look of regret could be seen in her eyes. She grabbed her sword with all the strength she could, but to no avail.

She closed her eye waiting for death to arrive, contrary to it she heard a shriek from the beast and flung her eyes open. A black shadow could be seen moving fast around the beast. This black shadow was You Xi Wang who saw the whole incident and jumped into action. He did not use his primary weapons but a long knife made from the tusk of a Stone Sabertooth. A cat type beast that had two big canines, which were mostly used to forge knives and daggers. These canines were strong enough to cut through iron.

Maya approached the girl who was still watching in a stupor and sat down on the ground and licked her paws while she watched You Xi Wang fighting the beast. The strategy he implied was very simple, Terra dame was a big beast and bad at turning around so he ran around it. The second step was to stop its movement, which was done by slashing at the joints and disabling the tendons.

RRRIIIPPP

A sound of flesh tearing was heard when You Xi Wang made a slash on the inside of Terra Dame's leg, causing the beast to wail in pain and losing its balance, despite the big size the legs were only as long as two humans which was an easy reach for somebody at You Xi Wang's level. The beast came down on its knee and You Xi Wang did the same thing to its other leg.

RRRIIIPPP

Another wail echoed and now the beast was down on its two front legs, You Xi Wang came to stop at its side and took out his sword. He bent his body forward and set hi right hand on the sword hilt. He drew his sword and slashed it. The set of movement was completed in a blink and the sword went back to its sheath as if it never left. He turned around, and the beast fell down, half of its neck was cut off and a slight glow of flare was visible on the edge of the wound.

He came towards the girl, he nudged her with his finger on her forehead as she was still in a stupor. She screamed, "Argh" You Xi Wang took a step back and the girl picked up her sword out of reflex. You Xi Wang was still smiling. The girl lowered her sword, and said, "Thank you for helping or I would have died."

The boy waved his hand and said casually, "It is not a big deal, may I know who you are and why are you alone in this place. My name is You Xi Wang." and extended his hand to shake hands.

The girl hesitates but shakes hand with him, "I am searching for my dad here. He has been missing for a few days, but before leaving he told me about this place as it was the region he was assigned to explore. My name is Snow Wistrom."

You Xi Wang opened his eyes wide while looking at the girl standing in front of him. Snow looked at his expression and asked, "Is there something wrong?"

You Xi Wang then took a deep breath, "Are you by any chance looking for Mr. Micheal Wistrom?"

Snow took a second to register what he just asked, and then her eyes widened in surprise. She moved her sword and placed it on his nape. She spoke in a cold voice, "Who are you?" before You Xi Wang could say anything Maya appeared on Snow's shoulder. Yes, Maya could now create camouflage and blend to her surroundings completely. She snuck up to Snow earlier and when she saw her pointing her sword at You Xi Wang, she used her illusion and jumped up to her shoulder, baring her fangs at the latter's nape.

Snow's body stiffened when she saw a wolf pup sitting on her shoulder and looking at her with extreme hate. While You Xi Wang replied calmly, "I found his journal in a Blood Bane Tiger's den the other day. I am a student at the Silica City academy. I am here for a training camp with my friends. Maya, come back, she is not an enemy."

Maya growled in dissatisfaction but hopped down from Snow's shoulder and moved to stand by You Xi Wang. Snow moved her sword back and said in an apologetic tone, "I apologize, but I have my reasons for not trusting you. Please give me the journal." with this she stretched her hand towards You Xi Wang.

You Xi Wang nodded and took out the journal from his storage space and handed it to Snow. He said, "I read this journal, and I am using my connections to get information regarding Seedling Inc. Do you know something?"

Snow kept looking at the journal and said, "Can I read this first?" You Xi Wang realized that he rushed things and nodded in affirmation. She walked up to a tree and sat down there reading the journal, You Xi Wang looked at a bit and bent down to pick up Maya. He rubbed her belly with his finger in a tickling motion as he said, "Someone has grown stronger, eh? Growling at me now? Hahaha... Who is the boss now Maya?" while Maya just rolled on her sides.
