A Failure's hopeful Journey

While Kojo and his team were busy imagining how they would torment You Xi Wang and his group later. The latter was busy making his fellow dark dweller regret being born in the world.

In the den, You Xi Wang stabbed his darg into Shane's thigh. Shane winced in pain but didn't shout. You Xi Wang was still smiling at him. Shane sneered and said, "Do you think this will make me scream, tch you just wait for your death kid. I will show you pain." he turned his head towards Yuki and said, "Bitch, you dragged me here with a hard hand right, I will make you know what a hard hand is when I make this kid watch how I ravage you."

Yuki was infuriated but You Xi Wang just shook his head at her and said, "Let's see if you can hold in the scream now." he sat down and held his dagger and transferred a very negligible wisp of his spiritual energy to it. This wisp might be very negligible in quantity but its quality was very pure. Normal cultivators might gain some benefits from it, but for dark dwellers, it was the ultimate poison.

Just like any other poison, it was corrosive to dark dwellers. They used impurities to temper themselves, making their bodies intolerant to the pure elements. The spiritual energy entered Shane's body, who had lost his cultivation and could not stop this wisp of energy. He started shivering, cold sweat beads started forming on his forehead. His body was being destroyed on a cellular level. It was very painful, he could not resist and started screaming.

ARGHH...!

Heart-wrenching screams continued to echo in the den. Everyone else was pale in complexion now when they saw Shane rolling on the floor. You Xi Wang was the only one who acted as if it was no big deal. A few minutes passed and Shane became tired of screaming his consciousness dwindled. You Xi Wang used this chance.

'System, do it now.' he yelled in his mind.

[I know my job, shut the fuck up you sick sadistic swine. This guy will die soon.] the system replied.

The system then scanned Shane's consciousness. Their motive was to reverse track the guy whom Shane has placed a seal on. By doing that they will locate Kojo and rescue Fenny. They will also have an element of surprise on their side. After a few minutes, the system transmitted some images back to You Xi Wang.

[Reverse tracking through a soul seal is difficult because the distance is more than what I can calculate with my current prowess. But we got some clues. And the general direction of their hideout.] the system notified You Xi Wang.

You Xi Wang nodded and pondered for a bit and then he turned to his friends and said, "I found the direction where those guys might hide in. We can follow up and assassinate them all one by one. I will lead the assault alone."

Yuki said in protest, "Xi Wang, you are not the only one here who is worried about Fenny." hearing this You Xi Wang smiled at her.

"That is not the reason I proposed this. These guys are soul cultivators they can sense those if someone approaches them. I can get near them and kill them. I need you guys to do something else for me." he replied to her.

Others were reluctant to agree with him on this point, but they also did not have any better options. Snow spoke, "How about we play decoy and create an opening for you to rescue her?"

You Xi Wang shook his head and said, "Let me show you guys something." he whistled at Maya, who stood up and came in front of the group. He then crouched down and said in a soft tone, "Maya, here can do illusions as you all know, but what you don't know is I can too."

Neo tilted his head and said in a bewildered manner, "You mean the spirit beast contract?"

You Xi Wang nodded and others were surprised. They were all good at studies so they knew that there was only one type of beast contract that allows the beast and host to share their powers. The contract of equality, but nothing in this world was for free. There was a cost of the deal, that cost was life dependency. The human and beast bound by this contract will share their life force if one of them dies another one will die too, until and unless they revoke the contract by dispelling their cultivation.

Yuki said, "Xi Wang, there might be another way. Don't take such a step. You know a cultivator can only have one equality contract throughout there life. If you found another stronger beast then what will you do? Also, Maya is just a cub will she be strong enough for this mission? What will any of us do if something happened to her? We will lose you too."

You Xi Wang knew what she was saying was for his own good, but there was no other way he could take on Kojo. That guy was careless. He would kill Fenny with no hesitation once he smells something fishy.

He looked at her and said, "I give you all thirty minutes, think of something better otherwise you know I am not a patient by nature. I swear happens to Fenny, I can never forgive myself or any of you for stopping me."

The den descended into silence as everyone put the gears of their brains to work but all in vain, soul cultivators were a pain, they were thought to be rare but it was only because people hid that they could cultivate souls. After thirty minutes when there was no plan which could lead them to efficiently rescue fenny they followed You Xi Wang's idea.

They all called their cubs forward, while You Xi Wang consoled Snowflake by patting him as he said in a soft voice, "Don't be sad Snowflake, we will bring her back okay. You need to be a big boy so you can show off when she returns. Okay?" the latter was naughty, just like fenny and was coaxed by this sweet talk.

Snow did not have any wolf cub, so she just stood by Snowflake as the rest sat across their cub partners. They slit their wrists and let the blood drop on the cub's head. They then chanted, "God of all life, I pray to you. Bond my soul with (the cub's name) for eternity. Shall I want to be free from this bond, take away my life."

The cubs howled lightly and a white halo enveloped both the humans and the beasts. The bond of equality was now complete. The wounds on their wrists (humans) healed while the beast cubs absorbed the blood on their bodies. The beasts grew in size gaining strength from the contract. You Xi Wang and his friends also felt a new kind of power flowing inside their bodies.

They all stood up after the process was over. You Xi Wang gazed at the sun, which was coming down towards the horizon. He mumbles, "Yama, today I will send you evening gifts."
