A Hero's Multiverse
3 Chapter 2: Prisoner of S.H.I.E.L.D
By now he even misses the annoyingly talkative head of Deadpool, even including his rotting smell and his trash talk, the guy at least talked to him. Being a bit eager to talk to people, after having spent eternity alone, drifting around in the void, the silence these people are giving him is even worse than the green pills uncle Bruce gave him in his childhood.
Seeing an African American man with an eyepatch walk in, Ethen is more than happy to talk to someone who seems to be in charge.
''How is our guest doing agent Romanov?'' Asks Nick Fury Romanov, totally ignoring the man himself, also present. Having just prevented the end of the word, despite the world being fundamentally changed forever, Fury had to attend two short meeting before he was able to interrogate his new guest.
Being handed a tabled showing the preliminary test results, Fury is surprised, as every test imaginary comes up empty. -Not even his DNA can be accessed.- Nowing that not even Thor was able to shield his DNA from them, the Shield Director is deeply impressed.
''I guess we can exclude him being a mutant for now...'' Fury says, now for the first time looking directly at his 'guest'. Wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt the man's apparently bulky physique makes him look even more intimidating than Steve Rodgers.
''... Now, let's start with the basics, shall we?''
Shooting a charming smile at Natasha, Ethen gives Fury only a friendly one, before saying. ''Be my guest.''
Seeing the man behaving not hostile, Fury starts his interrogation. ''Name?''
''Which one? My birth name or my current one?'' Ethen says, totally ignoring Fury while using his x-ray vision to check out a black widow in her underwear.
Getting irritated by the men answer Fury states. ''Both, if that could be possible.''
''Okay...'' Ethen says, satisfied that his guess about the color of Romanovs underwear was correct. ''... I'm currently going by the name Ethen Wayne. I was born as Jo-El, son of Clark Kent, also knowns Kal-El and Diana Prince.''
Happy, but also deeply annoyed that the Ethen is apparently only interested in looking at his agent, Fury asks. ''That's a pretty long name, Mr. Wayne. Can I call you that?''
''Many more... Birthplace?''
''Metropolis, but after the 'Doom of Heroes' I moved to my uncle Bruce Wayne and grew up in Gotham...'' Reliving the painful memories of his childhood, Ethen remembers his mother gentle an loving smile, the day she and his father left him. It was the day of the election of US President and Lex Luthor was the Republican candidate.
Back then he himself still believed in the good in the human species, but that was destined to change on that fateful day, as nearly unanimously the people of America voted Lex Luthor into office, as the 45th U.S. President. -He won overwhelmingly, as he campaigned against the human rights of mutants, against the Justice League and for genetic human research...-
''... Mr. Wayne?... I am asking you what your intentions are?'' Ethen hears Fury ask him, as he waves his hand in front of Ethen's eyes.
Still dazed from the intensity of his memories, he asks. ''Intentions?''
''Yes, your intentions for being here...'' Fury says, having already prepared for the worst, but happy not having to fight this living question mark. ''... Look... We have just gone through an alien invasion, many people are frightened. Before you leave this room, I have to have your threat level determined...''
Knowing Furys bad agent, worse director routine, Natasha says. ''You talking about places, not on this planet doesn't help your case... So tell us what you intend to do while being here on earth?''
''My intentions... my intentions...'' Then repeats the question while coking his head sideways, pondering about it, before a plan takes shape in his head. Not wanting to be distracted by Romanovs cleavage any longer, he, at last, deactivates his x-ray vision, telling Fury. ''... I am a refugee. I am here to live a better life.''
Looking more than just a little bit surprised Fury asks. ''A refugee?! You are serious? You...'' Unable to keep a straight face, Fury asks with a huge smile. ''... Ahm... You survived a fall from thirteen thousand meters. Iron Man only survived his fall thanks to his armor. How did you a refugee do it?''
Using the simplest and most obvious explanation, Ethen states. ''Biology. My body was able to resist the impact!''Snorting Fury asks, continuing his interrogation. ''Don't take me for a fool, boy. How old are you by the way?''
Staying with his plan and staying honest, Ethen says. ''I should be 35, but I am unsure if that is technically still the case.''
Frowning Fury asks. ''Why only technically?''
Then, now for the first time angry, shouts. ''Well,... seeing that my universe is gone as it seems and my existence should be wiped out of existence with it,... I spent an unable amount of time in I place I like to call the 'void', I think we can make a pass on my actual age and just stay with 35.''
Being forced to remember this place of pure isolation, he is unable to fully keep his rage in check, as the cackles holding him, in place begin to make a cracking sound, as his eyes begin to glow red.
''Shit, another guy with anger issues!'' Shouts Romanov, as she pulls Fury aside.
Seeing the woman's frightened panic, Ethen is able to rain in his emotions, stating surprised. ''You fear me!''
Seeing that the man is still in control of his powers, Romanov explains. ''Why wouldn't we? The last time somebody went mad, he turned green and the tanks like Frisbees at us!''
Irritated by her statement Ethen says. ''I don't care. Where is Wilson anyway?''
Being a bit disturbed Fury asks. ''Wilson the Volleyball?''
''I am not talking about some ball. I am talking about my guide...'' Ethen explains, before saying. ''... Ah. I mean the skull?''
Raising an eyebrow, while looking at Romanov questioning. ''Skull?''
Knowing that she most likely did the wrong thing Natasha explains. ''The subject, when found was in the possession of a rotting skull.''
''I got that. My question was, where is that skull?'' Asks Fury his agent, fearing that the wrong answer might have the man hulk out on them.
''I...''

''I...''
At the same time, lying on top of a mountain of chitauri soldier corpses, awaiting his third cremations in the last hour, I one lonely head.
''Why does that guy get taken away by a hot redhead and I get burned repeatedly! I want to call my lawyer and sue the person responsible for my suffering!... Hello?... Hello?!... This is a work place harassment!... Somebody, please call the cops... Anybody there?... Oh, come on the author, that talk about cops and lawyers was just a joke... Hello?... Please please somebody help me.''
Seeing that the only person around is a lazy gravedigger, wearing a headphone and is paid by the government 5$ per buried chitauri corps, nobody cares about one skull lonely plea.
The skull finally stops talking, as he once again is doused with gasoline. Smacking his lips, he comments. ''Mm... biofuel, excellent choice! It still is the only choice for those that like to pretend to care for nature, but want to promote hunger in the world and drive around for no other reason to make asphalt donuts... Why use arable land responsibly and keep people from slowly the joy of slowly starving to dearth...''
