A Hero's Multiverse

7 Chapter 6: A nice suit of armor

''Yes, well about that... I kind of promised him that I would become his a Shield Intern...'' Confesses Ethen a bit embarrass, before clarifying further. ''... We both concluded that neither one of us could trust the other, so I proposed to him the possibility that for the time being, we could work together to establish some goodwill on both sides... Since I didn't want to expose all my powers I am unfit to join the Avengers for now, so...''

''So you decided to become an intern to shield...'' States Wade having to suppress dry laughter. ''... Hm, I guess you don't know that Fury's precious S.H.I.E.L.D. is infiltrated by Hydra... What are your Powers anyway?''

''That is a little bit complicated to explain... From my father, I have gotten super strength, flight, invulnerability, super speed, heat vision, freeze breath, x-ray vision, superhuman hearing, healing factor, Solar Energy Absorption/Supercharge... The last one allowing me to go beyond my body's natural limits for a short period of time after I have flown through a sun, absorbing it in its entirety...'' Explains Ethen, taking a deep breath before continuing. ''... As far as I know, from my mother's side, I only got Power Bequeathment, the ability to share a portion of my power with people close to me. It has to be noted, that this fraction alone is in and of itself a power increase far beyond any held by any metahumans ever.''

''Speaking about being OP! Only one of your powers is enough to make a hero!...'' Says the skull, before realizing something funny. ''... Hahaha... Good old Cyclops must be rotating in his grave right now! Not only do the two of you have a superpower in common, but you are able to control it.''

''OP or not, 'even the mightiest hero can be brought down if the enemy has a proper understanding of their powers', that's what Uncle Bruce always told me...''Ethen says, remembering his childhood growing up under his uncles care. ''... 'Keep your opponent distracted and focus on something other than your powers' he used to tell me over and over while kicking my ass when I was younger...''

''Sounds an awful lot like child abuse to me...'' Comments Wade sarcastically. ''... Wait... Is that the reason why you want an armor? To hide your powers and have them attributed to your armor instead of your heritage?''

Showing off a secretive smile, Ethen's only comment on that is. ''... Maybe...''

''What kind of Armor did you have in your timeline?...'' Asks the skull, honestly curious about what kind of armor a literally overpowered guy like Eten would be wearing. ''... I assume you did have one.''

Seeing his friend once again drift into his depressed state, Wade comments. ''What a nice suit of armor... The only question now is where do we get an armor like that, because I don't remember the Marvel Universe having a Batman. We have a Moon Knight if that is of any help...'' Seeing Ethen's sad face he hastily adds. ''... But I am sure we can have Tony Stark make you a new one. That guy gave Peter Parker his Iron Spider suit for god's sake, I guess he should be able to make you an at least decent one.''

'' It's not the suit. Its what it represented...'' Starts Ethen to explain. ''... Hm... My timeline really is gone...'' Pulling himself out of his depressed state of mind, he adds. ''... I would guess that it wouldn't be of any use anyway... People aren't hunting metahumans...''

Curious about this erased timeline, Wade asks. ''What did the people call you in your timeline?''

''Champion...'' Whispers Ethen at first before telling it to the head out loud. ''... My superhero persona was called 'Champion'. I guess the people saw me as their last hope... Their champion that stood against Luthor and his insane undertakings.''

''Sounds exciting.''

''Let me tell you, it was...'' Confesses Ethen once again smiling. ''... Fighting for the weak and innocent... Fighting for what is right and just... It was glorious!''

''I guess you will be able to experience something similar in the near future since when you are really going through with this internship, you will experience the Marvel Universe at its finest.'' States Wade, showing of an all-knowing smile.

Mirroring the skulls enthusiasm, Ethen states the obvious. ''But first I need a new armor... I wish I had my dads Kryptonian Battle-Armor. Not only was it self-repairing but convenient as the suit simply attaches itself to the wearer's bone marrow.''

Thinking about known suits with similar characteristics, Wade thinks out loud. ''That sounds like Starks Mark L Iron Man Armor or one of those creepy Symbiotes...''

''Wait a minute...'' Ethen interrupts his companion before asking. ''... There are suits and armors like these in your universe?''

Irritated the skull asks back. ''Why shouldn't there be?''

''That's fantastic, even great! I always wanted to have an armor like my dad...'' Ethen confesses, before contemplating. ''... I also wouldn't say no to an armor-like my mothers... Great Uncle Hephaestus works are among the best of the best...''

'' Hephaestus? The Greek god of smithing Hephaestus?...'' asks Deadpool nearly crying of jealousy when seeing Ethen simply nod. ''... What kind of family do you have, boy?''

Not getting that the skulls question was purely rhetorical Ethen explains. ''Well, my father was the last Son of Krypton an advanced alien race and my mother was the bastard daughter of Zeus and the Amazonian Queen Hippolyta...''

''Stop, stop, stop! Please, stop talking!...'' Wade cries out before grumbling. ''... Now I get why 'God' board of crazy people wanted to see you gone... Nobody should be that lucky in life!''

''You call my life lucky?...'' Ethen asks being a bit pissed off by the skulls remark. ''... My parents were killed by a very-fife megaton kryptonite fusion bomb on the day known as the 'Doom of Heroes'. I had to take small dosages of the same stuff that killed my parents and most of the heroes that day, to suppress my natural gifts until I slowly build up a resistance against it and learned to control and mask them to perfection... For my entire childhood and adolescents, I had to constantly hide my powers in fear that the Central State would discover my heritage.''

Seeing Ethen's angry red glowing eyes, Wade instantly apologizes by saying. ''I am sorry, I am so sorry, please don't roast me with your heat vision. My regenerative powers do not cover wounds inflicted by your laser beam!''

Smiling satisfied by the skulls words Ethen asks. ''At least you know what is good for you... Now, what was that about a Mark L Armor and Symbiotes?''
