A Race to Melt Hearts

A hand touched my forehead, the person then sighed deeply. As he decided to sit beside me. His stare made me gulped, I can feel it burn against my skin.

"It's good to know that your fever is gone little sister. I hope in the near future you'll be able to look after yourself independently, the way you've taken care of yourself since the day you were separated from us. I hate seeing you suffer from a mild fever and I don't want you to get sick. For now let big brother take care of you, oh how I wish you could have had the chance to meet our father and the late grandfather before they passed away."

His hand keep on wandering to every corner of my face making it harder to pretend that I'm asleep. Is he trying to familiarize my face? Or is he attempting to wake me up.

But why is he calling me little sister?

His words put a little warmth in my ice-cold heart. As if he is a part of my life for a long time. But why did he suddenly appear now?

I can feel the change of his warmth, that means he intentionally move towards me. He leaned closer to me, till I can feel his breath fanning against my face. Then he planted a kiss on my forehead.

"I know you'll be wondering why I saved you. I know your mind might be confused of the unexpected turns your life went through. I'll be expecting thousands of questions running inside your head and you'll be asking me for answers. But for the little time we'll spend, I hope you'll get every answer that you'll need. Survival is essential but I know you'll pass through these trials, you're a strong girl. And I wish to stay long with you, but I know I can't. A year might be enough for me to see you grow. And this year might me the last; I hope I can see you smile like mom's smile. I'm sorry that I've left you behind little Dee."

A tear escaped my eye, I don't know why, but I am deeply touched with his words. I don't even understand the whole situation. And I don't even have any clue of knowing who he is. But the only thing I'm sure of is that if there's one person I could trust the most, and then it'll be him.
