165. Chapter 165: The Silver Snake

Not long after that, more and more attendees flocked in until the two layers within the building were packed and occupied by all manners of audiences. A bustling image was able to be seen.

However, it seemed that the bustling areas also varied within the scene. Those who were on the second floor only communicated with the ones who were at the same floor, while ones at the front row only talked with the others at the front row either. Seemingly they formed gangs before coming here.

During such a leisure time, Shuluo, as a ‘qualified’ chatterbox, actually had provided Song Qinghan with bunch of valid information for free. If it was feasible to thank him, probably Song Qinghan would have done so, yet in order not to expose his unease here, he chose to keep his silence when Shuluo was talking.

However, such a silence in Shuluo’s eyes reversely was totally interpreted as a superior manner.

“See? Over there, the man standing right there is the satrap who is taking office. Look at his appearance with objectionable decency. I heard that he did get a good look when he was younger, and that’s why he married his current husband. Supported by his husband’s power and background, he got the position without any efforts. Really! He gets nothing but that look, he doesn’t even know some words, but gains his popularity by playing around. What a petty jerk!”

“Oh hey, isn’t that one the shopkeeper of the Zhenbao Shop? How come he is here too? Well, well, then the auction today must have got something priceless, otherwise he won’t show up that easily. It’s heard that he was disfigured by someone, so he would just choose to stay in his shop, or hang out with that customized black veil.”

“Wow hey, over there! I think I have caught a glimpse of a barbarian! Over there on the second floor? Oh, I might get a pair of blurred eyes.”

“…”

Song Qinghan followed his gaze and looked up at the second floor. Yet he could see nothing but a heavy curtain cloth covering there.

However, the ‘barbarian’ Shuluo mentioned did incur the curiosity of Song Qinghan.

If the ‘barbarians’ really showed up right here, what would that mean? Especially… the other party seemed to be a honored guest who could get a seat on the second floor.

Just as he was deep in thought, a clear voice sounded right from the stage at the center within the hall.

“Greeting to all of you, my distinguished guests, thank you so much for taking the time to participate in this auction. I believe this auction will never let you down! The rules are still the old rules, but since it is our great honor to have so many newcomers here this time, I still have to bother you for some more times.”

“He who wants to offer a price isn’t required to stand up, but just raise one of your hands. And if you get a competitive price yourself, just inform the men in black beside you. In short, do your best to remain quiet, peaceful come and peaceful go.”

“After the deal is done, you can directly follow the man in black to the backstage to pay for the item. Or you can choose to wait until the auction is over and then come up with your deal price. But rules are still the rules, walking around in wantonness is highly prohibited here. Please keep this rule in mind.”

“Last but not least, and I believe that none of you is going to make such a mistake like this. Yet it still my responsibility to repeat it here, that is… Do according to your own ability, alright? You should know your own financial status quo, right? If you fail to take out enough coins when the whole deal is done, then… Well, thing’s going to be awkward.”

Song Qinghan could clearly feel that after the man spoke out such a series of words, the atmosphere suddenly became tenser, as if the entire crowd was frightened by his threatening words.

After the introduction of the rules, a dreadful silence fell on the scene. Well, obviously no one was that foolish daring to challenge the rules. So the man on the stage smiled brightly there, and the clasped his hands, saying in a tone which was totally an opposite to the previous one, “NOW, the auction begins, let us welcome the first lot!”

After that, a slight rumbling noise sounded from the stage, followed by a scene of four hefty men meticulously cooperating to uplift a box which was covered by a red cloth. Four hefty men didn’t leave after they placed the box on the stage carefully, but formed a line orderly in front as if they were assigned to guard something.

Well, it was totally beyond Song Qinghan’s expectation that the auction would be so highly efficient since he thought that the man on the stage would continue bragging.

The man on the stage scanned the scene and saw that everyone’s eyes were fixed on the box. It could be clearly seen that the man was of great satisfaction himself, and then he suddenly reached out to unveil the red cloth covering on the box.

“The first lot, saluting to the old rules, is still the rare animal!”

Though Song Qinghan got a pair of good eyes himself, the long distance still failed him to catch a clear sight of that so-called ‘rare animal’ within the box. So if he wanted to observe the ‘novelty’ more clearly, he had to stretch forth his neck trying best to see.

On the other side, Shuluo bent his knee struggling to keep a gesture of half standing while opening his eyes wide. His eyes were bulging as if they would definitely fall off if someone behind patted him slightly on the back side of his head.

Within the box there was nothing else but a small snake which featured a whole body of shinning silver.

It seemed to be quite uneasy right now as it kept running through the box and knocking itself at the inner wall. Its bloody red forked tongue was probing in and out from its mouth, seemingly it was trying to search for the exit for security.

The man on the stage delivered the audience a bright smile, and then introduced, “All of you should know the rarity of this living animal, right? Silver snakes hide themselves deep within the mountain and it’s rather rare in the marketplace. To obtain this tiny creature, three of our employees had sacrificed already. Hmm, if you want to know its specially precious features…”

He deliberately paused at this moment and then noticed that the gazes of the crowd became more of curiosity. He finally laughed and uttered, “Well, it’s king of silver snake! Faster moving speed with tinier shape. Even the poison in it is more violent.”

After that, he made a slight nod to the hefty man beside him. The hefty man got the order, and then took over the cage on the other side and lifted up a fairly white rabbit from it.

As the rabbit was thrown into the box where the silver snake stayed, it didn’t got a time to react and then there flashed a silver light all of a sudden. With body stiffened, the rabbit fell back at the next second without breath.

There was a waves and waves of gasping sounds at the scene after the poor rabbit died, but some people seemed to be quite unsatisfied towards the consequence and one of them shouted directly, “That’s nothing at all! Since the rabbit is that tiny, every random silver snake is able to make that. How can you prove that it is indeed the king of silver snake? As far as I am concerned, the solidest proof should be using human being as a trial! It’s heard that the king of silver snake is able to murder an adult in a flash while the victim doesn’t even get a chance to get his expression changed because it is just in a flash. So… show us your sincerity!”

The crowd quieted down after this guy shouted. It seemed that all of they reached an agreement to him.

Song Qinghan frowned and pursed his lips as he stared tightly at the man on the stage.

If the man agreed either, it seemed to be a proof to show that it was quite a normal affair for them in wantonness against the dignity of human beings. Yet, from the man’s previous statement, Song Qinghan had already known the fact.

No one who still got a conscience would choose to sacrifice three lives for just a living small snake!

However, because it was probably an accident, Song Qinghan did not immediately come to a conclusion, but if the man on the stage would really choose to select a human being as a victim for the experiment, then his speculation would totally be an indisputable fact.

The man on the stage smiled faintly, seemingly he wasn’t worried towards the defiance of the man among the audience. He took a glance at the man causally, and then answered leisurely, “Alright then, since you’re eager for that show, I will make your wish come true.”

“Old rules! Do it!”

Song Qinghan’s heart tightened as if such an order made by the man was rather ear-splitting. After that, the four hefty men suddenly moved. At that moment Song Qinghan thought one of the hefty men would be the victim for the experiment. But…
