Accident Prone
110 Room 312 2
In the room 312…
Max tossed Liz on the bed and then hopped next to her, ready to tease her and get those intoxicating kisses that only Liz can give him.
He saw that she is carefree, giggling and it made him happy, yet somewhat frustrated as well. How can she be so relaxed? Ah, probably because she does not know the things he wants to do to her.
Max wondered, how is it possible that Liz is not aware of the effect she has on him?
The beast inside him is telling him to devour her, and he is fighting it with everything he's got while telling himself not to rush because they have a lifetime ahead of them.
Max is not at the stage where he is thinking about a marriage, but since Elizabeth entered his life, he is planning and thinking about the future. And on few occasions when he thought about his distant future, every time Elizabeth was part of that image.
He observed her beautiful smile directed at him for some time before resting his forehead on hers and taking a deep breath, allowing her sweet scent to enter his body.
"You are driving me crazy.", he murmured.
Liz's left hand went around him and landed on his back while her right one went behind his neck and her fingers played with his damp hair.
Max smiled. He likes when she plays with his hair.
Elizabeth thought about his statement. They should be having fun, but how come he looks like he is in pain?
"Why do you say that I'm driving you crazy?", she asked.
Max smiled bitterly. "Even I am surprised how much my self-control stretches because of you."
"Why?"
Max reminded himself that this is Elizabeth, and when she asks a question, she is expecting a straightforward answer. One of their (still active) deals has conditions: no games, tell the truth, respect, and he will honor that.
"Because I never restrained myself like this before."
Liz already knows that he is holding back for her, and she realized that her 'why' was ambiguous. She decided to clarify: "No. My 'why' was for: why are you controlling yourself?"
Max chuckled helplessly. "Liz, I don't want to make you uncomfortable. Remember? I told you that I don't want you to hate me."
Liz was touched. Again, Max showed his sweet side and he cares about her so much that he is neglecting himself.
Liz realized that if she does not voice her thoughts (or are those feelings?), Max has no way of knowing what is on her mind. The more she thought about her next words, faster her heart was beating, threatening to escape her chest.
Liz took a deep breath to calm her raging emotions and spoke: "Nothing you did so far made me… uncomfortable. You are invoking many feelings inside me, and hate is not among them. You are sweet and caring and gentle, and you take my breath away and make me dizzy and all this is new for me, but I am having fun and I am curious what is next."
Max felt lightheaded for a moment. Did Liz just confess her feelings and gave him a permission to move forward? Hearing her words, all thoughts left him, and his brain refused to work.
"What?", Max asked after some time.
Liz can see that the confusion engulfed him, and she found him… cute.
Liz was not aware that she has this power over Max, and it gave her the courage to take one more step outside her comfort zone.
Liz said boldly: "I didn't realize that a man with a thousand ex-es needs a detailed guidance on what to do with his girlfriend."
Max blinked few times before putting the back of his palm on Liz's forehead.
Elizabeth thought about several possible reactions from Max, but why does he look like he is about to give her a health checkup?
"Max? What are you doing?"
"You don't have a fever... Who are you? What did you do with my Elizabeth?"
Liz laughed. "Your Elizabeth is in Seattle, reading a book probably. This Elizabeth is here on a vacation, determined to have fun… with her boyfriend."
Elizabeth's last words splashed on Max's lips a second before she pecked him on the lips… once, twice, trice… Every time longer than the previous time.
Max held his breath while the reality sank in: Liz kissed him! And more than once, so it can't be a mistake. And he felt it, so it's not his imagination.
They kissed many times so far, but this is the first time that she is the one initiating the kiss (on the lips)!
Liz felt that Max snapped out of his daze and possibly entered the next one.
Max's eyes darkened and his intensity was like a whirlpool she can't escape from and she didn't even think of escaping it because she wanted to go on this ride, with Max.
His arms tightened around her, and he returned her kisses passionately.
Max tongue brushed against Liz's lips, gradually relaxing her and getting ready to deepen the kiss while his palms moved on her sides and he gripped her body while trying to prevent himself from going too far, too fast. But it was not very successful, because his right hand escaped from her waist and glided down her hip, over her thigh, until it reached her knee and then it slipped under the hem of her dress and started moving higher. A low growl escaped him when he felt her soft skin under his palm. She is irresistible.
Max was not sure if he can stop. His desire for her swelled, and her erratic breaths and the way she is pulling him closer told him that she wants him as well.
His lips moved down her jaw and neck, and Max was surprised by the violent lust which assaulted him when her fingers laced into his hair and she moaned softly right next to his ear. Oh, God! He was never this turned on his life and both of them are still fully clothed!
But what is that annoying buzzing?
It took him some time to realize that the phone in their suite is ringing. Why is it not stopping? Who the hell has such a horrible timing?
Frustrated, Max abruptly broke the kissing frenzy and answered the call. "What?!"
"Mr. Anderson…", man timidly spoke when he heard the hostility in Max's voice. "There is an order for a dinner for four people to be delivered to your suite. Considering that your father reserved the table in our restaurant for your whole group, we wanted to confirm where you plan to have your dinner so that we avoid the double charge."
"What?!!"
The man on the phone took a shaky breath and started again: "There is an order for a dinner…"
"I heard you!", Max interrupted him grumpily. "I didn't order dinner."
"Oh, oh… Maybe we got the room number wrongly. I apologize. We will cancel this…"
Max didn't wait for the man to finish. He ended the call and turned to Liz.
He smiled smugly seeing her flushed face, obviously still dazed from their previous kissing.
What surprised him is that she didn't look away. Her gaze was fixed on him and there was a small smile lingering on her slightly swollen lips, telling him that she has no regrets.
Max took a deep breath and scolded himself. What was he doing? Now he is aware of her feelings and that he has a spot in her mind and probably in her heart as well, and no matter how comfortable she is with him and how curious she is about what is next, he should know better. Their first time needs to be special and something she will cherish her whole life and not something that happened because he lost control the moment she initiated a kiss. What is he, a teenager?
Max plopped on the bed next to her.
Liz observed Max and the changes in his expression reflected his emotional turmoil. Liz was touched and somehow… it made her fall for him more. She is still unable to identify this warm and restless feeling which comes with butterflies in her stomach and being all giddy and lightheaded for no apparent reason, but Liz knows that next to Max she feels at peace and her body gravitates toward him.
"Someone ordered dinner for our suite?", Liz asked while scooting closer to him.
Max realized that she heard what he said and hummed in confirmation. "They got the room number wrong."
He extended his arm to the side, so that she can lean her head on his shoulder and his arm wraps around her back.
Liz didn't agree with his conclusion. "For a room service you need to give a room number and the last name. That is the minimum information needed so that guests don't randomly order things for others. Also, a resort of this caliber should know from which room the order came, and they will record calls made to the reception and to their other amenities."
Max frowned slightly. "Are you saying that someone ordered dinner to be delivered to our room on purpose? Why?"
"That is a mystery…", Liz mused. "How about we investigate?"
"You are in a good mood.", Max observed that Liz is playful and he liked it but he didn't think that there is a need to look into this room service order further. It's just a mistake, and even if it's not... who cares? The worst thing, they would have extra food and send it back. What matters is that he is here with Elizabeth and he does not want to waste time on anything else.
"Mhm… I am on a vacation in paradise with my handsome boyfriend. Is there a reason not to be in a good mood?", Liz asked while snuggling closer to Max.
Max chuckled. "Really… what did you do with my Elizabeth?"
"Max?"
"Hmm?"
"What we did before the phone rang… I didn't hate it."
"Liz, let's not rush. OK?" Max could not believe that these words came out of him.
Liz looked at him and blinked. She lifted her arm slowly and placed the back of her palm on his forehead.
She tried to mimic his concerned expression: "You don't have a fever. Who are you? What did you do to my Maximilian?"
Max laughed. "Let's get ready for dinner."
