Accident Prone
391 Weekend in Sin City 7
She and Quentin go out on the weekends, but it is mostly in a romantic atmosphere with soft music. Their evening usually consists of dinner and if they dance, it is to a slow tune.
This was wild and unrestrained and it allowed Brianna to burn her energy together with any negative thoughts that accumulated over the evening.
The dancefloor was packed, and the girls often bumped into people who were nearby, but it was all in good spirits because those people would bump into them as well. Some would exchange smiles as well as dance moves before turning away and disappearing into the crowd like they were not there in the first place.
Most of the dancers were tipsy and they were moving their bodies with the beat of the music while their faces showed they are having a good time.
Liz, Mia, and Bri started making a routine where they would lift their arms up in the air and wiggle their fingers, and then sway their hips before they twirl on their toes, and then they are back to raising their arms again. They took turns in coming up with varieties to their dance routine and all three of them had fun.
Brianna swayed her hips and turned to twirl, but hallway she stopped when two arms grabbed her waist. She blinked at the unknown man who was grinning at her and he was close. Too close.
"Excuse me…", Brianna said while pushing his hands away.
A second later, she realized that he is too strong and that the more she resists, the stronger his hold is.
"You dance very well. I thought of joining.", he said while ignoring her attempts to wiggle out of his grasp.
Brianna frowned, ready to lodge her knee in his family jewels and to make it count, but before she could do anything, a fist landed on the man's face.
Brianna turned to see furious Quentin glaring at the man who staggered backward. The man would fall on the floor, but the crowd prevented him from doing so.
The people nearby realized there is a commotion and they started moving away, creating a small circle around Quentin, Brianna, and the man, separating from the trio Mia and Liz in the process.
The man stabilized himself and returned Quentin's glare.
Quentin put his arm in front of Brianna and pushed her to stand behind him.
"You better leave if you know what is good for you.", Quentin growled at the man even though he was itching for a fight. The frustration was bubbling inside Quentin and this man dared to put his hands on Brianna as if he was asking for a beating.
"It does not say anywhere that she is yours.", the man taunted Quentin fearlessly.
The man is taller and bigger than Quentin, and his clothes are not able to hide his buff physique, but Quentin is not a pushover.
"I say that she is mine.", Quentin said angrily.
Quentin was about to explode into a fight, but several bouncers were at the sight, pushing them apart.
"You either calm down or take it outside.", one of the bouncers said.
The man grinned. "How about we take it outside?"
Quentin sneered. "My thoughts exactly."
The man lifted his chin in obvious provocation and walked out, and Quentin was two steps behind him. Bouncers followed them, making sure they don't fight in the club. They don't care what happens outside.
"Q, don't fight…", Brianna pleaded while holding onto his arm.
Quentin shoot her a glare and yanked his arm out of her hold. He didn't want to talk. He was angry.
Quentin was angry that Brianna suspected him of cheating. Sure, maybe he was supposed to fire Kendra, or at least not answer that stupid phone call, but Brianna didn't say anything. She left him in a hot soup, full of doubts and fears, while she went to have fun with her girlfriends without bothering to tell him where she is or to answer his phone calls.
When he arrived at the nightclub, Quentin thought of going to apologize, but then… what should he apologize for? For taking a phone call? It sounded stupid. Why would he apologize for something he didn't know that will bother Brianna? Is she even bothered by it? He didn't know. And then he saw Brianna dancing with Liz and Mia, without a care in the world and his anger swelled when he realized that she was having fun while he was drowning in misery. When that guy showed up and got handsy with Brianna, Quentin wanted to stay back and let her experience some harassment. That is what she came here for, right?
Quentin was looking forward to this weekend. He planned it for Brianna and their friends, as a time they get to have fun and strengthen their bonds while creating memories. And it turned out that Brianna decided that she should spend it with her girlfriends and to exclude him. He spent time and resources to organize this weekend for three couples, yet his own girlfriend wanted girl-time, to steam out, and maybe find some guy to hook-up with, because Quentin is obviously not enough.
But no matter how much he wanted to stay away, he couldn't, and he ended up punching the guy.
Quentin didn't want to talk to Brianna. Not now, because he would say hurtful things that he can't take back.
Brianna was frozen and her stomach was full of knots as she watched helplessly Quentin walking out to fight with a guy who is a few sizes bigger than he is. She never saw Quentin fight before and she never saw him this angry either.
Brianna was faintly aware that Mia and Liz are by her side, saying something, but she didn't hear them.
Quentin never looked at her like that. His eyes were full of anger and anguish and there was a disappointment as well, and her heart broke into a million pieces.
Whatever happened, it is obvious that Quentin is blaming her for it, and he is not completely wrong either. She cursed herself for not taking his call earlier. And she cursed herself more for coming here without him.
"Bri! Bri!", Liz shouted. "Snap out of it!"
"What do you want?", Brianna asked with annoyance in her voice.
Isn't this all Mia's and Liz's fault? Didn't they do enough damage for the night? If they didn't start talking about Kendra and that stupid phone call, Brianna would brush it off and the dinner would not be spoiled and none of this would happen.
"We need to go out, the guys are fighting!", Liz said while tugging Brianna's hand, irritated that Brianna is not moving.
Brianna yanked her hand away. "You can go. I don't want to."
"He is fighting for you!", Mia shouted angrily.
"I never asked him to!", Brianna snapped back. "And I never asked you to meddle in my relationship!"
Liz ignored Brianna's second statement. She was back to tugging Brianna's hand. "You never asked him for anything! That is your problem! You are sitting there and letting him guess what you want, and you are sulking when it's not how you thought it should happen!"
Brianna didn't want to go out, but Mia was pulling her also, and she ended up being almost dragged out.
The street looked normal, without any sight of a fight.
"There!", Mia pointed at an alley between two buildings and the girls rushed that way.
Before the girls reached the alley, Hunter and Max walked out, both shaking their hands that are bloodied.
Liz approached Max and frowned at the cut above his eyebrow. "How did you get this?"
"There were five of them.", Max said and lifted his chin proudly, silently telling her that the other guys got a worse beating.
Mia visually inspected Hunter and took his hands into hers. "This will need ice."
Brianna stared without breathing, waiting for Quentin to emerge. Hunter and Max would not leave him behind, right?
Quentin walked out a few seconds later and Brianna frowned when she saw that his lip is bleeding.
Quentin glanced at Brianna and diverted his gaze.
"I'm going back…", Quentin mumbled and walked toward their hotel.
"Hunter needs ice, and Max will get first aid…", Liz said while walking with Max after Quentin. "Let me check you."
Quentin didn't want to stop. "I'm fine."
"You don't look fine.", Liz grumbled. "But if you can complain, then it can wait until we reach the hotel."
"Bri? Are you coming?", Mia asked Brianna who seemed to grow roots that prevented her from moving.
Mia waved at Hunter to go with others and she looked at Brianna. "What are you doing? You know that you need to talk to him, right?"
"He does not want to talk to me."
"That is stupid. If he does not want to talk to you, why would he come here? Quentin came to the club because he cares about you."
"I don't know what to say.", Brianna admitted.
"Try saying what is on your mind. Or at least listen to what he has to say and start from there.", Mia said and hooked her arm around Brianna's while pulling her to move.
