Chapter 17: Curing the Plague

Rhode nodded to Forbas and agreed to give the Athenians the asylum they needed.

“Thank you for the generosity of the gods beyond Mount Olympus.” Forbas repeatedly kowtowed to Rhode.

The latter couldn’t help but smile in his heart, although it was rumored that the belief of the Greeks in piling the gods of Olympus was rock solid, but in the face of the desire for survival, faith eventually turned into dust.

“Then without further ado, go and inform your army to quickly mobilize the people to help me find someone.” Rhodes said.

“This…” Forbas looked away in shame, and then stretched out a hand towards the door, “Please, my lord, let me show you where we are now, and you will understand.” ”

Rod and Seeg followed in Faubas’ footsteps and came all the way to a clearing deep in the building.

On the ground mountain, there was a group of people lying on a thin white cloth, their faces were gray, and blood-colored festering wounds could be seen on their skin.

The blood veins on the neck spread out like black spider webs, making people’s backs chill against the background of the miserable white and gray skin.

Everyone moaned weakly, and only the faint rise and fall of his chest could tell that he was alive.

The bare skin of the limbs has a large area of rotten flesh hanging on the ground, and flies hover back and forth in the festering place, occasionally landing on the wound to eat.

“Yay~” Above the sky, the crow fell on the eaves, and the empty dark eyes stared at the people on the ground, and every scream seemed to mock everyone’s powerless actions.

Physicians in Athens came and went, applying green herbs to the festering skin of their patients.

“Ahem… This didn’t work either. The leading doctor, dressed in a yellow robe, coughed a few times from time to time, scratching his already red throat, trying to relieve the itch of his throat with pain.

Being able to wear brightly colored clothing shows that his status is not low.

“As you can see.” Forbas looked worriedly at the crowd on the ground, “My soldiers have suffered from the evil plague, and we don’t have extra troops to help you.” ”

Rhode looked at the soldiers guarding the clearing, one by one, bowed over, cold sweat oozing from his forehead, and he looked exhausted.

What’s more, Rhode saw that these people actually began to cough violently from time to time.

“There is no protection against the plague at all, and this will only allow the plague to continue to spread.”

Rhode picked up a dirty rag from the ground and found a jar of water to soak it in.

“What are you doing? It is water for the patient to drink, so dirty cloth, it will contaminate the water source. Forbas stood in place and stretched out his hand, wanting to stop but not daring.

“This water has long been polluted, and the plague is so big, how can the water source still be clean.” Rhode explained as he picked up a few stones on the ground and threw them into the water tank.

“Is there salt?” He asked several white-robed assistants who were circling around the yellow-robed doctor.

They looked at Forbas uneasily, hesitating to answer, after all, salt was a very valuable thing, and although this stranger seemed to have a good status, he could not call it casually.

“What do you want salt for?” Forbas asked.

“I’m going to make some high-concentration brine, and the rock on the ground doesn’t have enough salt and needs a lot of coarse salt.”

“Concentration?” Forbas’s level of knowledge could not understand Rhode’s words at all, but when he thought that Rhode was a divine soldier from Asgard, he secretly decided to gamble in his heart.

“Anyway, I trust you, and we’ll find you salt.”

After Forbas retreated, Rhode called Seeger to his side.

“Asgard’s medical technology, it should be more than enough to treat them.”

Siger nodded, and then sighed helplessly, “Although it is simple to treat them, the plague has spread, and it is impossible for us to treat the entire people of Athens. ”

Seeger looked at the doctors, who were coughing violently as they talked, apparently because of excessive intimate contact with patients that had caused him to be infected.

The thought of these people returning home at night, and the plague spreading further to his family, made Siger feel powerless.

“If you want to heal the entire Athenian people and wipe out the plague, at least call the army of Asgard to come down, and the two of us will finish the treatment of these soldiers on the ground at most.”

Rhode nodded, “That’s enough. ”

Saying that, Forbas has returned with people, they are holding large pieces of pale yellow solids in their hands, and the purification technology of this era has made the salt block in his hand the highest purity refined salt.

“Sir, this is all the refined salt of Athens now, feel free to use it.”

Rhode took the salt cube, threw it into the tank without the slightest mercy, and stirred it with his own spear.

In the process of stirring the Rhode spear, the salt block collided with the spear, turned into pieces, and then slowly dissolved in the spiral water.

After stirring for a long time, seeing that there were still some undissolved solids left at the bottom of the cylinder, Rhode knew that the water in the cylinder was already a high concentration of salt water, reaching the maximum dissolution and could not continue to dissolve.

He pulled out the cloth that had been immersed in it, twisted it half-dry, and tore it into strips of cloth that could encircle the length of a person’s jaw.

“Distribute these to everyone present.” Rhode ordered.

Forbas took the strip, his eyes full of doubt, he couldn’t understand why Rhode was soaking the strip with salt water, but he still handed it out to the soldiers and doctors.

All those who received the strip looked at Rhode suspiciously, hoping for an explanation.
