American Comics: BOSS Invasion

#18 - Kryptonians are giving away heads

National City. Below, chaos reigned, with plumes of black smoke rising in the distance.

A bustling metropolis had seemingly transformed into a chaotic battlefield in an instant.

Piccolo Daimaō stood with his arms crossed, floating silently in the air.

Modu and Supergirl were still locked in combat.

Supergirl possessed speed and strength, while Modu was agile with explosive power.

They should have been evenly matched, but Supergirl, despite her strength, was essentially an ordinary girl without professional training.

Facing Modu, the fight was a messy affair.

The Great Demon King suddenly snorted coldly.

She crashed into the ground like a cannonball, smashing through a car and creating a spiderweb of cracks spanning several meters.

Modu's entire being erupted with ki, and he dove towards Supergirl.

The sharpened ki manifested as blades before his arms. If it connected, even Supergirl's steel-like body wouldn't withstand the blow.

Ki was a wondrous thing.

It could unleash tremendous power in explosions, or become exceptionally sharp when focused.

Even the mighty Frieza had been sliced in half by a ki-powered Destructo Disc.

Supergirl also sensed the danger, but she was already exhausted, failing to rise after two attempts.

She realized she had depleted her energy and was now just a mortal.

Was this the end?

As the monster's face loomed larger, Supergirl's mind flashed with memories.

Just then, the building beside her exploded, and a black figure shot out horizontally, slamming into Modu as he descended.

A burst of sound echoed in the air, scattering a ring of smoke, and Modu was sent hurtling sideways like a bullet.

He crashed through several buildings before finally collapsing.

Supergirl squinted, recognizing the familiar face before her, and blurted out, "Astra?"

"Are you alright?"

The woman before her, clad in a black skintight suit, was none other than Supergirl Kara's aunt, Astra.

They had fought just days before, confirming their animosity, yet today she was rescued by her enemy.

Supergirl wasn't sure how to face her aunt, and nodded slightly with awkwardness: "Thank you."

Astra shook her head: "It wasn't to save you. These creatures can rival Kryptonians. They are a major threat to our planetary conquest and must be eliminated beforehand."

Before she could finish speaking, six more figures floated down from above.

These were all Kryptonians, prisoners who had been locked up with Astra.

Meanwhile, Modu, bearing minor injuries, floated back into the air, his eyes now filled with even more sinister intent.

Astra waved her hand: "Execute the mission."

The six formed an arc in the sky, unleashing their speed as they charged towards Modu.

The six formed a semicircle, and twelve scorching beams of light shot out from different angles.

Modu simply swayed his body, creating a multitude of afterimages, dodging all the beams.

Having suffered a setback, Modu's ferocity erupted, and he abandoned any playful intentions.

He unleashed his full ki, gathering it in his hands.

With a flicker and a flash, he appeared behind one of them. A white light flashed, and the soldier's head was severed.

Even in death, the soldier's eyes were still projecting heat rays.

As the head tumbled, the heat rays plowed deep gouges into the surrounding buildings.

The Kryptonian soldiers were shocked, and in the brief moment of hesitation, another was decapitated.

The remaining four frantically retaliated, firing heat rays at every location the target appeared, but all they hit were afterimages.

A simple Image Technique was enough to toy with the powerful Kryptonian soldiers.

Modu sneered, not even needing a second move to behead his victims. Every time he flashed, a head would certainly be severed.

In the blink of an eye, three were already dead. Astra was shocked and, leaving Supergirl aside, was about to step forward to help.

"Don't!"

Astra paused slightly: "What?"

"I said, don't go up there." Supergirl shook her head, solemnly stating, "This monster's close combat is too powerful. You need a weapon."

Astra slowly turned her head, revealing a smile.

"Kara, I am a warrior."

After saying that, she flew up and went straight to the battlefield.

Supergirl was stunned.

At that moment, a black SUV recklessly crashed through the cars blocking its path and stopped in front of Supergirl. Alex and his team jumped out.

"Kara, how are you? Are you hurt? Didn't I tell you to retreat? The military has a plan to deal with the Great Demon King."

Supergirl forced a smile: "Is that so? That's great."

After saying that, she collapsed weakly to the ground, and passed out.

On the other side, Modu was still rampaging, and although the Kryptonian soldiers used all their skills, they were still no match.

Their performance was so poor, it was as if they were deliberately handing over kills.

In the blink of an eye, only one enemy remained.

This Kryptonian soldier had long panicked and, seeing Modu's approaching face, shouted and turned to flee.

Modu had anticipated this move and flashed ahead, bringing his sharp ki blade down head-on.

Just then, Modu's body suddenly froze.

The Kryptonian soldier crashed into him, sending him flying. Astra arrived just in time, piercing Modu's brain with a sharp weapon.

Modu's eyes widened, and he slowly turned his head, his blood-red eyes staring at Astra, his voice hoarse: "How could… who…"

Astra gritted her teeth, pulling the blade sideways, tearing off half of Modu's head, splattering blood all over her face.

Bang!

The corpse fell, smashing into a pulp.

A red light flashed in the distance. Astra grabbed the exhausted survivor and quickly ascended into the air, disappearing rapidly.

Nearby, Director John's figure appeared in the opening of a smashed building, his eyes glowing red before gradually receding, and he retreated step by step into the shadows.

Although it sounds like a lot, the actions of both sides were very fast.

From Supergirl's exhaustion to Modu's death, it only took a little over a minute.

Piccolo Daimaō only glanced at the distant scenery before suddenly sensing the disappearance of Modu's ki.

"He's dead again? Lujia! Did you memorize her ki? Good, go kill her!"

A light flashed in the strange bird's eyes, and with a cry, it flapped its wings and soared into the sky.

At that moment, a red light shot straight towards him.

Piccolo Daimaō narrowed his eyes slightly and reached out his right hand.

Bang!

A wave of ki spread out, and the red light reverted to a human figure, revealing a completely red robot.

The immense impact force did not cause the Great Demon King any trouble.

His floating figure didn't even shake in the slightest.

On the contrary, Red Tornado suffered a huge reaction force, his body freezing for a moment.

"It doesn't even have ki, what is this thing?"

A hint of surprise flashed in the Great Demon King's eyes. He had never seen such a thing before.

After all, he was a boss from the early Dragon Ball era, and had not experienced Frieza, nor had he ever seen the abnormal Artificial Humans.

The sudden appearance of this toy piqued the Great Demon King's interest.

Red Tornado's arm suddenly transformed into a drill, and began to spin wildly.

It pressed against the Great Demon King's palm, emitting a sizzling sound and bursting out sparks.

The Great Demon King exclaimed in surprise, withdrew his hand, threw a punch, and sent Red Tornado flying. Then, with a flash, he appeared behind him and kicked him back.

This was repeated more than ten times.

Red Tornado, on whom the military had placed high hopes, had become a red ball, bouncing back and forth in the air.

DEO Headquarters.

General Sam looked at the satellite feed, his face darkening.

"This is the result of ten years of effort and billions of dollars? Doctor, your project is too disappointing."

The doctor, wearing small glasses and exuding a somewhat hypocritical air, was now covered in sweat.

His hands danced across the keyboard, constantly adjusting various parameters.

On the monitor, damage reports poured out like a waterfall.

Massive amounts of error information piled up, and the error correction mechanism couldn't keep up.

"It's too fast, the opponent is too fast. I've set the reactor to the highest sensitivity, but it still can't keep up."

A DEO technician next to him said, "Based on the data we collected earlier, we've done a simple analysis. In normal state, the Great Demon King can move 60 times per second, and in extreme state, he can move 120 times.

But the distance won't exceed one hundred meters. To break the current stalemate, perhaps a bomb would be more useful."

General Sam immediately ordered: "Detonate the concentrated explosives carried on the right arm."

The doctor screamed in protest: "No, I've only built this one prototype in ten years of effort. If there's extensive damage, the repair costs will be astronomical.

Too much funding will be consumed, the report will look terrible, and for future mass production…"

"Doctor, this is an order, execute it immediately." General Sam's tone was firm.

You think I'm going to mass produce something like this? Keep dreaming!

The moment General Sam saw that scene, he abandoned the Red Tornado plan.

The doctor could only execute the order with red eyes.

After pressing the confirmation key, the upper part of Red Tornado's right arm suddenly exploded in the feed.

The huge shockwave pushed the Great Demon King away, while Red Tornado rolled towards the sky, desperately trying to escape.

Having attracted the Great Demon King's attention, how could he let him escape?

With a shake of his figure, a ki blast erupted from his feet, and he chased closely behind.

Half of his arm, surviving the explosion, drew an arc in the air and smashed through the wall, flying directly into Rhodes Technologies' laboratory.

Holding a welding torch, Mr. Rhodes looked at the flying object that had smashed his months of work into pieces, tilted his head and said: "New trick?"

The secretary quickly ran over, holding a tablet.

"Boss, we found a dozen congressmen and finally got the information. That robot is a secret research project of the military, called Red Tornado, designed to guard against future threats from Superman. It has already cost billions, and it will be very… difficult for us to get a sample?"

At the end, the secretary looked up and was so shocked that her tone changed.

Rhodes shrugged, making an innocent expression.
