American Comics: BOSS Invasion

#6 - There is a place to live

Arriving at the designated location by taxi, I saw Laurie waving from the side of the road as soon as I got out of the car.

He was still wearing the same clothes as yesterday, his face still weathered, but his eyes were much more spirited.

It was as if he had suddenly seen hope.

"Where is he?"

Laurie pointed in a direction and said, "He's over there, but he's with Vega. Omar also arrived in a truck a while ago. They seem to be doing some kind of transaction."

Following the direction he pointed, Qi Shan indeed saw * * * and Vega.

Next to them was a white mid-sized van, which should have contained the so-called goods.

At this time, a scruffy-looking white man was leaning against the van, his eyes darting around nervously.

"Is that the guy, Piper Rex?"

"That's him."

Qi Shan could vaguely hear Laurie grinding his teeth.

"Got it. Leave it to me."

"Be careful. Give me a signal if you spot anything unusual. I brought a sniper rifle."

Qi Shan looked at Laurie with some surprise. Laurie nodded fiercely.

"Did you bring any grenades? Give me two."

It was just a casual remark, but Laurie actually pulled out two pineapples and stuffed them into Qi Shan's hands, then turned and rushed into the nearby stairwell.

"He's really desperate."

Adjusting his collar, he was just about to go over when a commotion suddenly came from a distance.

Omar's men had a conflict with Vega's men. Omar's men were quickly disarmed, and Vega's face showed a look of triumph.

As Qi Shan got closer, he could vaguely hear Vega's smug declaration of victory.

"Let me tell you, Omar, you're finished today. How dare you search my men? Don't you know that Piper has been with me for years? This is a provocation!

Today, I'm going to take over your entire community. If you know what's good for you, get out of my territory before dark.

If I see you or your men again tomorrow, I'll throw you into a blender and turn you into dog food.

Do you understand?"

Just after he finished his harsh words, a small pineapple suddenly fell from the sky and landed in the crowd.

The group of people froze for a second, then scattered in a frenzy.

Boom!

An explosion sounded, and a group of people fell to the ground.

The muzzle of a gun was silently pressed against Vega's head, making a crisp sound.

Vega looked up, trying to struggle to get up.

"Don't move, don't move. Trust me, an extra hole in your head won't make you feel any fresher."

The group of people scrambled to their feet, each with injuries. It seemed that the shrapnel from the small pineapple was quite powerful.

A rubber bullet bounced off his shoe, and Qi Shan's lips curled into a smile.

"Let me go, who are you?"

Piper, whose shoulder was being gripped tightly by Qi Shan's left hand, struggled constantly.

Qi Shan remained unmoved, stepped on Vega, who was trying to get up, and raised his chin.

"Omar, I'll give you a gift."

Omar glanced at Vega and said with pleasure, "Okay, I like this gift."

He took two steps forward with his men, grabbed Vega, and choked his neck.

"Never thought you'd have this day, did you? I'm telling you, starting today, your territory is mine."

Vega's eyes were cold, and he didn't say a word.

Two underlings stepped forward and dragged Vega away.

Omar walked over and said, "No matter who you are, let's just call it even. I don't want to see you again."

Qi Shan smiled and said, "Don't be so sure. I have a feeling we might be seeing each other often in the future."

Huh?

Omar's eyes widened.

At this moment, Laurie, carrying a long black bag on his back, walked over quickly, his eyes fixed on Piper.

"You bastard, I finally found you. Let's go!"

After speaking, he stepped forward and grabbed him, took out a zip tie to tie him up, and shoved him into the trunk of a car.

Qi Shan smiled slightly and then followed.

Omar repeatedly clenched the gun in his hand, feeling a bit of an urge to shoot him in the back.

Suddenly seeing the small pineapple in Qi Shan's hand, he quickly dismissed the idea.

He muttered in a low voice, waved his hand, and told his underlings to retreat quickly.

Now that he had taken over a new district, there were many things to do.

Although he lost a villa, he eliminated a strong enemy and gained a district.

Overall, it was still a profit.

However, * * * found it difficult to feel any gratitude for Qi Shan's methods.

Taking a ride with Laurie, he returned to Tom's bar.

Getting out of the car, Laurie pressed Piper and disappeared into the corner, while Qi Shan sat at the bar, slowly drinking beer with a plate of cashews.

It was only noon, and Tom had just opened, with no customers at all.

Qi Shan was the only person in the entire bar.

Listening to the screams coming from behind from time to time, Qi Shan calmly and leisurely watched TV.

Sure enough, it was another report about Supergirl's heroic deeds.

Several different channels were analyzing the matter from different angles.

It seemed that the appearance of Supergirl had greatly excited the news media.

The police were routinely showing their faces, and high-ranking officials with flowery epaulettes solemnly complained about Supergirl's overreach.

Stating political correctness, the reporter seized the opportunity to spark discussion.

The studio was in an uproar.

After a while, Tom walked out wiping his hands, his expression calm.

Qi Shan glanced at him and could clearly see the bloodstains on the rag: "How did it go?"

"He told me. Laurie has already gone over there."

Tom walked to the sink, carefully washed his hands, and answered faintly.

"Need any help?"

"No need. Laurie brought two people. There shouldn't be any problems."

Drying his hands, Tom walked over and took a bottle of very high-end champagne from the top of the shelf.

He opened it with a tool and poured two glasses, placing one in front of Qi Shan.

"Thank you."

"It's nothing. He paid for it."

Tom nodded and took a key from his pocket and placed it on the bar.

"Room 307, International City. From now on, you have a year of free housing."

Qi Shan took the key, and a slight smile appeared on his lips.

"I hope the environment is good."

"Definitely no problem."

Tom nodded and took out another key and placed it in front of Qi Shan.

"This is?"

"You could say it's spoils of war, or you could say it's my thanks."

Tom said, "Piper Rex owns a bond company that specializes in bail bond mortgages. You know, for shell corporations to launder money.

I vaguely remember it. It seems to be a small shop.

Take it. I'll get the paperwork sorted out for you in a few days. By the way, is there a problem with your identity?"

"So generous?"

Qi Shan picked up the key and glanced at it, not being polite, "My identity hasn't been sorted out yet. I only got a few fake IDs yesterday. Can you get a passport there?"

"I can, but it takes time and it's expensive."

"How much money do you need?"

"Complete identity information?"

"Of course!"

"100,000 yuan, I can get the best."

Qi Shan nodded: "Okay, how long will it take?"

"A week at most."

Qi Shan picked up the champagne and drank it all in one gulp, got up and said, "In that case, I really need a legitimate job. I'm leaving to go see the two properties I acquired."

Tom shouted from behind: "Leave me a phone number."

"It's already written on the napkin."

Qi Shan waved his hand and pushed the door open and walked out.

Tom picked up the fruit plate, and sure enough, there was a napkin underneath, with a few numbers written diagonally on it.

The bar wasn't far from International City, three blocks away, and it was only a 20-minute walk.

This area was obviously a business district, with tall buildings everywhere, signs more exaggerated than the next, and various high-end shops lined up, even most of the pedestrians on the street were office workers.

Occasionally, you could see hot dog and ice cream stands on the roadside, very American.

The apartments in International City were pretty good, the area wasn't that big, but it was decorated very delicately.

The functional areas were distinct, and the furniture and basic living supplies were all available.

Qi Shan simply walked around the room and found that it seemed that he only needed to fill the refrigerator and buy some personal items.

There was no need to rush these things, anyway, Qi Shan wasn't planning on cooking at home.

Turning around and going out, he prepared to go see the so-called bond company.

Hailing a car on the roadside, it took about 30 minutes to reach the destination.

This side was a bit far from the business district, and the number of tall buildings dropped sharply, most of them were one- or two-story buildings.

This so-called bond company was actually just a shop with an area of about one hundred square meters, divided into front and back rooms.

Other than being on the street, there were no advantages.

Piper was obviously not a businessman. The signboard was old and damaged, although it was barely usable, it gave people a desolate feeling of the end of the world.

The interior decoration was also old, and there was nothing valuable.

There was a 16-inch safe that was very conspicuous, but it was broken and the door couldn't even be closed.

Inside were all kinds of odds and ends, not worth a penny.

There were two rows of shelves in the room, with some messy documents placed on them.

Judging from the yellowing and aging, they were at least a few years old.

"It needs cleaning up too!"

After simply taking a look, he didn't even have the interest to sit down. Qi Shan turned around and went out.

The basic problems were solved, and now it seemed that he should consider the problem of money.

He couldn't go out and rob petty gangsters every night, could he?

Or become a superhero for a while and pickpocket along the way?

Those bastards who make a living from illegal activities are very rich.

Thinking about it, Qi Shan couldn't help but feel a little tempted.

Maybe, he could try?
