American comics: Starting from the Dimensional Demon

#28 - You can lose even if you're 6 vs 1? You're a piece of shit!

The earlier surge of adrenaline had completely vanished.

He felt a chill run down his spine, his legs were weak, and the small knife in his hand clattered to the ground.

Looking back, he realized he had been played by Barok!

How could such a small knife possibly stand against these monsters?

Especially the hulking, dark figure leading them, who was not only impervious to knives and bullets but also possessed immense strength!

Oh no, this is bad...

A stiff smile was forced onto his rigid face.

“L-Look, brothers, can’t we...“

Bang!

Sorry, the line felt too familiar; I couldn't help myself...

Silently retracting his fist, Luke glanced guiltily at the unconscious thug before meeting Barok's gaze.

Matt's radar senses clearly painted a picture of the man's current appearance.

The group stood in silent confrontation, Barok's eyes darting around before settling on Luke Cage with surprise.

“You’re not dead?”

Losing a 6-on-1 fight?

Even though his skin is tough, as long as we coordinate well, find a way to trap him, and attack from within, killing him shouldn't be too difficult.

“Yeah, not only am I not dead, but I also brought some friends to get revenge, Barok!”

Luke stepped forward, a sneer twisting his lips in mockery.

The thought of his earlier confidence being so thoroughly shattered filled Barok with even more rage.

“Hmph... those 'Parasites' really are useless garbage, not worth expecting anything from!”

“What I didn't expect was that you would get involved with Chun-Li...”

“Speaking of which, isn’t that the little detective stubbornly investigating our organization—Chun-Li?

I remember your father died because of this, right? I didn't expect you to be so bold!”

Barok crossed his arms, standing on the activated elevator platform, his arrogant tone immediately escalating the animosity.

His overbearing and conceited demeanor made everyone's fists itch.

“Barok... I will make you pay for my father's death!”

Chun-Li gritted her teeth, stepping forward with a voice full of hatred.

Only now did Marc and the others realize that Chun-Li had such a deep-seated connection with Shadaloo.

A father's murder, an irreconcilable hatred.

No wonder she had been relentlessly pursuing Shadaloo!

Clenching his fist, Luke could no longer suppress the anger within him, thinking of Mocha's death and the many more families devastated by those monsters.

“Barok, die!!”

With a loud roar, he slammed his fist against the cylindrical shield.

Bang!

The shield, made of some unknown material, only showed slight cracks when Luke Cage punched it, remaining unbroken!

Luke was stunned: “......”

Luke's strength allowed him to easily lift a car and deliver punches with a force of over ten tons.

“Get out of the way, let me try!”

Jessica, unable to watch any longer, rolled up her sleeves and stepped forward, throwing a punch.

But the shield was unimpressed, only trembling slightly, leaving a shallow fist-shaped imprint on its surface.

This... wasn't even as good as Luke!

“...Ahem... I don't seem to be in top form today...”

She coughed twice, feeling a little embarrassed under Luke's stare, and turned to spread her hands, shaking her head at the others.

On the elevator platform, Barok, who had been startled, began to mock them again, seeing that they were helpless.

“Hahahaha, you're finished!

I already activated the lab's self-destruct sequence; in less than 3 minutes, this place will be an inferno!”

Upon hearing this, everyone's faces changed drastically. Luke and Jessica, without a word, started frantically pounding on the shield.

3 minutes wasn't enough time to return; their only hope was here!

Matt clenched his baton, forced to watch Barok leave with an arrogant expression.

His super hearing allowed him to easily discern that the man wasn't lying!

“What do we do, Matt?”

Chun-Li's face was tense; if they didn't come up with a plan, everyone would die here today!

Countdown: 2 minutes, 53 seconds.

Bang!

“Damn it, this guy is ruthless, abandoning his own people without hesitation!”

Jeannice cursed, slamming a fist into the shield.

Sweating, Luke stopped his arm.

The cracks on the shield were dense and numerous, seemingly on the verge of collapse, but they stubbornly clung together, showing no signs of shattering.

Countdown: 2 minutes, 27 seconds.

“What do we do?!”

Veins bulging on his forehead, Matt frantically racked his brain.

“It's no use...”

He was helpless.

Either they lacked the necessary tools or they didn't have enough time!

Countdown: 1 minute, 41 seconds.

“Fuck!”

Was he... really going to die here?

Countdown: 1 minute, 27 seconds.

“Get out of the way!”

In a daze, he seemed to hear a familiar shout.

Then, he was pushed aside, watching Frank attach something to the shield.

He saw Frank yell “Down!” and then pull him to the ground.

Boom!

An explosion.

The shield finally gave way, completely shattered by the force of the explosive!

Raising his head, Matt cried out in surprise.

“Frank!”

Then, he quickly looked around, seeing Chun-Li helping Jessica and Luke to their feet.

Frank didn't offer an explanation, only nodding slightly.

He was covered in wounds, a bloody gash running down his face.

The man helped Matt stand up, seemingly without feeling any pain.

He held a gun in one hand, deeply looking at the monster that was too large to fit through the doorway.

Countdown: 53 seconds.

Frank didn't waste words. Time was short. The group exchanged a glance and quickly ran over to press the elevator button, summoning it down.

Perhaps because he believed they were doomed, Barok hadn't set any traps on the elevator before leaving.

After a long 30 seconds of waiting, the elevator finally stopped in front of them.

They quickly boarded and started it.

Countdown: 13 seconds.

The elevator wasn't slow. Looking up, they saw the exit getting closer and closer, and couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.

Jessica was about to speak when she suddenly felt a sinking sensation, as if something heavy was dragging her down, pulling her downwards with force.

At the same time, they could hear the familiar roar of the monster.

Crack crack!

The elevator shook violently, a sharp blade piercing through the platform with a snap, stabbing towards them.

The five were shocked. Luke roared, grabbing Frank with his left hand and leaping upwards, his right arm digging into the rock wall to secure himself.

Without a word, Chun-Li and Matt wrapped their arms around Jessica's waist. As Jessica activated her flight ability, the three quickly flew towards the exit.

Just as they flew up, the elevator beneath them suddenly shattered into pieces, collapsing downwards.

Whoosh!

A blade tip barely grazed Matt's shoe, almost severing his toes.

In this life-or-death crisis, Jessica gave it her all, carrying the two of them and bursting out of the ground first.

The three fell to the ground, turning back to shout.

“Luke!!”

“Frank!!”

Boom!

With a violent explosion, intense flames erupted from the cave entrance, the surrounding ground seething like a turbulent sea.

“Oh... no--!!”

Roaring, Matt painfully opened his eyes, angrily pounding the ground.
