An Endless New Dream

Night Starts to fall.

"I guess it isn't a new moon." Itami says

"Yeah judgone by how much it shrank we can ȧssume it will be one in the next 2-5 days though." Harriet says as Luna nods.

It's several hours of waiting in their entrenched positions.

"Where we able to range the mortars?" Huston asks

"I don't think so, we should be able to tomorrow though." Itami says looking through night vision binoculars.

Eventually the time clicks till midnight.

At 12:05 they approaching army shows up.

Several bright flares are shot into the sky as the army takes aim at its targets.

A few seconds later the first shot is fired.

The AA lights up the night sky shreading anything in the air space with its 20-40mm guns depending on the vehicle in use.

"It looks like remnants of what attacked Japan." Luna says seeing some damaged shields and broken armor on some of the troops who seems to have been on the other side of a power armor punch.

"No there are some new ones too... maybe they planned on regrouping with reinforcements and attacking Japan again.

There is the sound of a mortar launching.

"Who shot that! We haven't ranged them yet!" A officer shouts knowing safety regulations were just broken.

"Well the same daft regulations also say people should not be inside of a tank when it is fired." Harriet says

"That's for older tanks that were decommissioned then refit we can't have people fire modern shells out of cast iron tanks made in the 40s." Huston says

"Leave it to the Texan to know the rule." Harriet mutters

"I mean if you put on rubber treads depending on the state it could be street legal." Huston also adds.

The next day.

"We got a survivor!" Harriet shouts as the medics with her all go to grab the groaning unconscious man.

"More prisoners of war." Mari mutters as they start to treat the wound on the spot so the man doesn't bleed out.

"I mean how many wounded we are gonna pull out of this." Harriet says as she chases away some vultures.

Luna is back with the hunters who are able to heal with aura trying to save the life of the most critically injured.

Several hours later squad leaders are being decided and a meeting is being held.

"The prisoners are being prepared to be sent back to Japan." The American leader says

"All the hunters that are good at scouting are out doing so." Harriet says as she looks out the window to see the ones that are more combat oriented having a sparring match.

"5 dollars says Itami wins." Luna says looking at the JDSF officer getting sacrificed by his peers.

Suddenly he his handed an M-14 with rubber bullets and a bayonet.

"What makes you so sure?" The Japanese commander says.

"He was special ops." Harriet says having read the file her mom made on Itami. After having borderline Foresight is severely impressive not to mention being able to use it instinctively to always avoid your enemies and run away.

As the fight gets heated Itami scores a "lucky" blow after not falling for a feign and hitting his partner in the chin with the rifle stock.

"Did he just?" The Japanese commander asks

Harriet flicks rock at him through the window only for Itami to fall down just before the rock hits him.

"That's too coincidental to be luck." Harriet says

"Recon team 3?" The Japanese commander asks

"I think he would be a good leader. Me and Luna will probably join him since he seems to have the weirdest luck." Harriet says

"Do we have spot lights we could set up or are we gonna rely on night vision." the Japanese commander asks.

"We would be giving away our position with spot lights let's stick to night vision." The American commander says
