Chapter 19

Day Trip ~Train~

Today is finally the day trip with Tachibana.

There is no beach near where we live, so we decided to take the train to a beach a little further away.　

We'll leave first thing in the morning and probably we'll return at night.

It's still hot even on the inside of the train.

The train is air-conditioned, but I can't stand it until the breeze comes around to me.

I couldn't help but fan myself with a fan I had brought with me.

There were many children inside the train because it was summer vacation.

They must be going to a swimming pool or an amusement park.

I departed from the nearest station to our house then I will meet with Tachibana at her station then we will proceed to ride the train up until the last station.

From there we will take the bullet train up to the station near the beach

After getting off the bullet train we will then took a bus to the beach.

It's quite a long distance travel.

Tachibana's driver offered to take us to the beach, but we declined.

I thought it would be nice to go on such a long trip by ourselves.

Besides this long-distance trip would also be a beautiful memory with Tachibana.

I sent a message to Tachibana.

"I'll be in the very back of the train."

"Ok! I'll be waiting for you on the platform."

We texted each other yesterday and it seems that she's also looking forward to this trip.

At first, Tachibana was making a very detailed plan about when we would go and what we would do.

But when I told her to just go and do what she find comfortably she agreed with me.

The train arrived at Tachibana's station and Tachibana boarded the train.

"Good morning!"

Tachibana was wearing a white off-the-shoulder dress with her shoulders showing and black shorts that shows her slender legs, it's a really summery* fashion. She also had a shoulder bag on her shoulder and a straw hat tied around her neck hanging on her back.

I could also smell her usual perfume.

On the other hand I'm just wearing a black skinny jeans and a normal white T-shirt.

I'm really proud that my girlfriend is a really beautiful woman.

I should improve myself and be more cooler to look better with Tachibana.

I'm admiring Tachibana who was sitting next to me.

"What's wrong?"

"... Are we a beautiful couple?"

"Of course!"

Thank you Tachibana I really appreciate your concern.

We then rode the train up until the last station.

Then I suddenly remembered.

"Of course, you brought your swimsuit, right?"

"I brought it!"

"Hmm."

"You just imagined me wearing it, didn't you?"

"No, I didn't!"

She understands me really well.

"I'm curious what did you bring today?"

I wonder what's inside her bag.

"Let's see. My makeup tool, sunscreen, swimsuit, and..."

That's a lot of stuff.

"Did you already apply your sunscreen?"

"I didn't. Men don't sunscreen, right?"

Actually when one think about it men doesn't wear sunscreen is just a prejudice.

"No, you have to put some on!"

Saying that, Tachibana quickly put out the sunscreen that she brought and applied it with the palm of her hand from my elbow to my wrist.

I could feel the sensation of Tachibana's palm and I was really nervous.

"OK! The other arm too!"

She then tried to apply it to my other arm as well.

"No, that's okay! I'll do it myself!"

I then took the suncreen bottle from Tachibana, put it in my palm and applied it roughly on my arm.

"Seriously! You'll get burned if you don't apply it properly!"

Ah... Is this what they called flirting?

If I had seen a couple like this before I started dating Tachibana, I would have stared at them.

After a while we finally arrived at the last station.

We are now looking for the station of the bullet train that goes near the beach.

"I wonder where is it? I'm sorry, I don't really know exactly where it is because I don't come here that much."

"Hey, can we link our arms?"*

"...Sure."

Tachibana and I were walking while our arms are linked together.

Before I really used to admire couples who were walking together while their arms are linked together.

Right now I was more interested in touching Tachibana, than the feeling of being embarrassed to be seen around her.

We then found the bullet train station, then we bought the tickets and we boarded the train.

We sat in a seat for two people then train started moving.

I looked at Tachibana who had her arms still linked in mine.

"I'm looking forward to the sea."

"Yeah, me too."

It seems the two of us are thinking the same thing.



Note: 1. I didn't know that summery is an actual word. For those who also didn't know like me it's an adjective that means "characteristic of or suitable for summer".

2. This sentence took me 10 minutes to decide what to put it there because I don't know the exact term on what you call that gesture. Sorry I couldn't phrase this much better.
