Chapter 8.5 (Chapter 8 Part 3)

True Feelings (Kyoko Tachibana's POV)

"Hey, let's go somewhere together."

Those words came out of my mouth naturally.

I grabbed the sleeve of Kato's uniform and I wouldn't let go.

No, I couldn't let go.

I wonder if what I'm doing annoys Kato?

"Where are we going?"

"Anywhere is fine."

"Is it no good?"

I'm having a mixed feelings to what I'm doing.

I feel that I was being a nuisance to Kato, but at the same time I wanted to be with him.

Kato accepted my request and we got off to the last station.

"Let's go shopping!"

I've been on an after-school outings with girls before, like with Rina and the others, but never with a boy.

This is my first time doing this with a boy.
　
The rain had stopped.

I took Kato's umbrella and hold it up as we skip along.

I can feel myself getting carried away because I don't usually do this kind of thing.

My heart is racing with excitement at this unusual event.

I wonder if Kato feels the same way.

We arrived at the mall and I looked around the stores.

There are so many different kinds of stores here.

"Are you going to buy something?" 

Kato asked me to which I replied.

"I would buy something if I saw something that I like."

I wonder why did he ask me that question.

Could it be that Kato...

"... You haven't been to a mall with a girl before, Am I right?"

Kato's face looks like he's saying "Yeah, so what".

I was a little relived that Kato isn't used to shopping with girls.

We went to a bookstore.

I'm currently browsing through the fashion magazines.

I generally get my information from these magazines because it would cost me a lot of money if I had to buy them every time. So from time to time I just usually read them inside the store.

Kato is standing next to me, staring at a magazine of an idol group.

It is a popular idol group.

They all look very neat and clean, and everyone looks like a young lady in uniform.

I knew that Kato likes those types of girls.

Though I think I'm just as pretty as those idols in that group.

Hey, you should look at me more.

"Hmmm, so you like those type, huh?"

"Nope, it's not like I like them or anything."

Kato you can't fool me.

"Hmmm"

That's right! I wish Kato would pick out some clothes for me!

"Hey, hey! Let's go look at some clothes!"

We immediately left the bookstore.

"Hurry up!"

This is really  fun and it's completely different when I shop with a girl.

I wonder what this feeling of excitement is.

Kato then asked me.

"What kind of clothes do you usually wear, Tachibana?"

"Well I sometimes wear a one piece, also..."

I taught Kato various trendy clothes combination but he didn't seem to understand anything I said to him.

"But I sometimes wear my school uniforms even on my days off, you know?"
 
"Why would you that?"

Kato is looking at me strangely.

"Because after I graduate I can't wear my school uniform anymore. Besides, being JK is a brand, so I have to enjoy wearing them while I still can."

Yeah, you can only wear uniforms in high school.

Once you graduate, it becomes cosplay.

We arrive at the clothing store and I look at the different clothes on display.

Inside the store, I keep asking Kato if the clothes I'm picking looks good on me.

"How about this?"

"Maybe it's good?"

"What about this one?"

"I think it looks good on you."

All of his response are dull and it seems that he isn't taking me seriously at all.

"Are you really sure you're thinking about it?"

"Of course, I'm seriously thinking."

"Well, which one should I choose?"

Kato is looking at the clothes carefully.

Oh it seems that Kato is thinking seriously this time.

"I think this one's better."

Kato points in the opposite direction of the one that I thought was better.

"Hmm that one huh?"

In the end, I bought the one Kato chose.

At the cash register, I'm paying the bill with Kato on my side.

"You two looks like a perfect couple!"

Suddenly I feel hot because of the word "couple.

"Ah, no..."

"Uhmm, well..."

We are both fidgeting.

After I paid the bill we immediately left of the store.

"..."

It's really hard to talk in this situation

I know that we looked like a couple but in reality we're not one.

I hope we can be someday.

I didn't want today to be my first and last shopping trip with Kato.

"Oh, that's right! Let's buy a banana juice!"

"Banana juice?"

"Oh didn't you know? After the tapioca fad it was replaced by the Banana juice."

"I see..."

Right now I'm having a conversation with the clerk on the banana juice store.

"Is this the new one? Oh yeah! Wow, so there are flavors like this. Ah! I really like your nail polish!"

Kato looks at me like he is impressed with my conversation with the clerk.

"Which one do you want?"

"Oh, I'll have the same one as her, please."
