Army of True Salvation
Chapter 59:Deep Trust
Sheloah had already ended her confession but Veon just stood right in front of her, not saying a single word. He was taken aback by how Sheloah was expressive of her feelings towards him. He did not know how to react—what to reply to her.
Sheloah just smiled as she changed the topic, hiding her nervousness.
"Veon, the agreement a while ago… if you win, we can go further and get some of their resources, right," she asked and he nodded slowly.
"What if… you lose?" Her eyes started to water and Veon instinctively held her cheek to wipe off the tears that escaped from her eyes. Sheloah was suddenly embarrassed.
"That won't happen." Veon finally spoke after a while since Sheloah's confession. What he said next had left Sheloah speechless.
"You're one of the people who's patiently waiting for me."
Sheloah did not have the courage to ask. She felt her face heat up as she embarrassingly hid her red face on Veon's chest, surprising him. He could actually choose to push her away from doing so…
But he didn't.
He embraced her and Sheloah smiled. They stood this way for quite some time before Veon said something that made her heart ache because Sheloah knew what he meant and she knew that Veon had read her mind.
"Sorry."
Sheloah looked up at him as Veon released her from his embrace. "I have no intentions of being in a romantic relationship and I only see you as my precious friend. Nothing more, nothing less," he said and Sheloah smiled at him slightly, hiding her sadness.
"Thank you." Regardless of her aching heart, Sheloah just thanked Veon instead. "Instead of taking advantage of my feelings, you turned me down on the spot." Veon patted her head.
"But I want you to know that you are part of those people who are important in my life, Sheloah," Veon said and Sheloah nodded at him, smiling sincerely this time.
"Thank you… for listening to my confession," she said and Veon smiled at her back.
Sheloah knew that some parts of how they interact with each other won't be the same way again. But deep down, she was happy to have confessed her feelings to him. She had bottled these feelings for too long.
The both of them started walking back to their group. Tomorrow at 7AM, the battle between Army of True Salvation and Weapons of Massive Destruction will start. Ray and Veon would be challenging each other, representing their own groups.
Sheloah and the others believed in Veon's capabilities. They knew that he had the potential to defeat Ray. Once Veon gets serious, there's no stopping him. They know that Veon will do his best for everyone's sake.
They have deep trust in him.
