Army of True Salvation

Chapter 80:It's Over

They had arrived in front of the door. "I'll open it," Sheloah whispered and Shannara nodded.

Sheloah held the doorknob and she opened the door slowly. She was surprised to see Tyler bloodied up and his uniform had worn out.

"Tyler!"

Sheloah shouted his name the moment he showed his vulnerability. She caught him and had supported him up, as they walked towards the couch. Shannara closed the door as soon as they went inside.

Sheloah let Tyler lie down on the couch and she started assessing his body. He looked really hurt, but she knew that Tyler had prioritized his escape.

"Tyler, I'm sorry. I already told you not to follow me, didn't I?" Tyler just moaned in pain as Sheloah removed the button of his shirt one by one, slowly.

She saw scratches on his chest. Good thing his wounds weren't that deep or else, Tyler would have suffered too much.

"I'll just get the first aid kit inside my father's office," Shannara said as she quickly made her way to the second floor to retrieve the first aid kit.

Sheloah walked briskly towards the kitchen as she dampened a clean cloth that was hanging on the fridge's handle. After she dampened the cloth, she went back to the living room and she lightly wiped Tyler's wounds. He was slightly screaming in pain, but Sheloah had no choice but to continue cleaning up his wounds or else, it might get infected. She was lucky to have learned something from Isobel.

When Sheloah had completely cleaned Tyler's wounds, Shannara came back with the first aid kit in hand. Sheloah got it and applied whatever was needed to be applied so Tyler would just rest afterwards and won't suffer.

After half an hour, Sheloah sighed as she sat on the opposite couch, with Shannara beside her. She gave her water and Sheloah gladly drank it in one go.

"You're great, Sheloah. You treated your friend. Tyler, right," she said and asked as Sheloah nodded at her as her answer.

"Thank you. I took lessons from my best friend. Don't worry. We will leave this place soon the moment Tyler wakes up and you will know our other group mates," Sheloah said as she smiled and Shannara smiled at her back.

They were about to head upstairs to look for some clothes for Tyler but they were stopped right at their tracks when they heard another bang on the door. This time when they looked outside the window, there were zombies outside Sheloah's door. It seemed that they had followed Tyler as he escaped.

"Let's go to the back door. We have to exterminate them," Shannara said as they prepared their weapons.

Sheloah felt a bit confident to know that she had a formidable comrade beside her. Shannara was a dual wielder, so obviously, she knew that Shannara can indeed fight well.

The girls slowly pushed the television towards the main door to block it, even pushing the side couches to prevent the zombies from destroying the door. They walked to the kitchen and went out through the back door. The zombies didn't notice them; the girls made a back attack.

Preemptive strike.

Sheloah attacked two zombies with her katana and she successfully removed their heads. The moment their new heads emerged, Shannara shot them with her guns accurately. Sheloah focused on being a close ranged attacker as Shannara focus on being a long ranged attacker.

They realized that as it went on, there were more zombies appearing than usual. It seemed that a lot had actually followed Tyler. Sheloah was amazed to realize that Tyler made it alone.

They kept attacking but no matter how many zombies they killed, some were still appearing in their location. The two girls stopped attacking for a while and their backs bumped each other. They both distanced themselves from the zombies as they were catching their breaths. The zombies were now in circles, surrounding the two girls.

"We're cornered," Shannara said as they assessed their situation.

"My gun no longer has bullets," Sheloah said, exasperated.

"Same."

The zombies started closing in on them and they had no choice but to fight them physically by either kicking or pushing them away.

'It's over.'
