Chapter 68 - The Duel

A duel.

It is an occasional event among the nobility.

The reason for a duel varies from time to time, but the most common reason is that the insulted party is trying to regain honor.

If you are offered a duel, you have the option of accepting it or not, but if word gets out that you refused the duel, it is considered so disgraceful that you cannot survive in a noble society.

However, I had been expelled from my family.

I’m not in that much trouble even if I can’t live in a noble society.

“Of course, you’re not going to run away, are you?”

Sanchez said in a sarcastic tone.

The other side of his gaze was Orobas, who had just beaten Sanchez.

Although Sanchez doesn’t say it directly, he is implying it.

“If you run away from the duel, I will punish Orobas for assault.”

Well, Orobas is a demon, so no matter how he is punished, he will be able to escape by retreating to the demon world.

But I don’t care about such logic.

“Yes, of course I’ll accept the duel.”

Orobas was angry for me, and it was my duty as his lord to return the favor.

“Let’s set the rules for the duel, shall we?”

“It can be as simple as a one-on-one fight between you and me.”

“Hahahaha, you incompetent Norman fighting me. “

I really don’t mind if it’s me and Sanchez fighting one on one. I’m not the same person now as I was when I couldn’t use magic.

Speaking of duels, it used to be common practice to fight one on one until one of the two was fought to the death, but nowadays, it is common knowledge to set rules to prevent the fight from developing into an exchange of lives.

Although, people have been known to die in accidents from time to time.

“We have just the right thing for a duel. As a matter of fact, we’ve come to this dungeon to complete an urgent quest.”

“Urgent quest?……”

An urgent quest. As the name implies, it’s an urgent quest that needs to be resolved, usually involving the defeat of an unusual demon that has appeared in some mountain.

Emergency quests are rare in the dungeon.

“It seems that the demons that normally appear only in the lower levels have appeared in the middle levels, and the ecosystem in the dungeon is undergoing changes. To be more specific, because of the appearance of the demons in the middle level, demons that originally inhabited the middle level have begun to flee to the upper level. If the demons continue to climb upward, there is a risk that they will eventually reach the outside of the dungeon. Before that happens, we need to defeat the demons that are the cause of that strange phenomenon.”

I see. Indeed, it is a matter that needs to be resolved quickly.

That’s why Sanchez came to this dungeon with his knights in tow.

“What is the name of the demon that caused this?”

“The multi-legged dragon.”

A multi-legged dragon. That sounds like a powerful demon.

“The rules of the duel are quite simple. The first one to defeat the multi-legged dragon wins, is that correct?”

“Yes, that’s fine.”

Originally, we were going to hunt demons in the dungeon, and I have no complaints about the rules themselves.

“And it would be unfair if we didn’t have the same number of people. If you’re going to dive the dungeon with three people plus one of those big dogs, then we’ll go with only four people.”

The number of knights that Sanchez had brought with him was more than ten at a glance. I’m sure he’s going to leave most of them here.

“Mr. Sanchez, it’s…….”

“Even if we were to win with a larger group, it wouldn’t show.”

One of the knights tried to disagree with Sanchez’s idea, but Sanchez silenced him.

I don’t think it matters how many people come with us.

“Also, a duel needs a reward, right? How about the winner gets to do whatever he wants to the loser?”

Sanchez suggested with a chuckle.

“Alright.”

We’re going to have a duel, so what’s the point of doing it if we don’t get that kind of reward?

“Hmm, I see! Then, if we win, I’ll have you get down on your knees naked in public!”

Sanchez insisted as he gleefully spread his hands.

That’s a fantasy in very bad taste.

“Well, I guess I’ll have to do something similar then.”

“Hahaha, I wonder why the incompetent Norman still thinks he can win. Shouldn’t he be practicing getting down on his knees right now?”

“What more could I do for you, Master?”

He must have been holding back for a long time. Orobas, who was so frustrated that his veins were about to burst, tried to step forward, but I stopped him with my hand.

“The rules have been set, so let’s begin. Let’s duel.”

“Yeah, sure.”

This was the moment when the duel between Sanchez and me was about to begin.
