Chapter 68 Arrival at the target

After two days of delays in the mountains, Carl and Hope's journey finally began to get better.

Not long after leaving the mountains, there was a river that happened to be in the same direction as they were heading.

Carl used the wood in his backpack to build a small boat, and he and Hope floated along the current for three days.

Unexpectedly, after crossing a hill, a small city built of stone appeared in their sight.

This should be the location of the goblin tribe in Salamander's memory.

Whether it's the slightly broken city wall or the moat surrounding the city, it's exactly the same as Salamander remembers.

At the other end of the city, an active volcano is steadily flowing lava into the city.

This is obviously not a miraculous work of nature, but the result of human intervention.

It seems that the goblins of this tribe are much better than the group of muddle-headed people outside the forest. At least they know how to use the surrounding environment to provide convenience for themselves.

Some distance away from the goblin tribe, Karl and Hope got off the boat in advance and disassembled the boat and stored it.

Along a not very obvious stone road, the two continued to move forward and soon came to the vicinity of the city wall.

There are not many goblins on the city wall, and most of them look lazy and have not woken up.

This is in line with Karl's inherent impression of the goblin group. There is always a goblin security guard at the port where Arkanix goes to Breland.

After all, for these ordinary goblins, even if they work hard, bugbears and hobgoblins will only think that this is what you should do.

The reproduction speed of ordinary goblins is comparable to that of mice. If an ordinary goblin dies, it will continue to live at worst!

As long as a pair of goblins of the opposite sex survive in a tribe, it will soon develop into a tribe again.

Looking at the goblins openly fishing on the city wall, Hope poked Carl's back and asked in a low voice:

"Why are these guys so lazy?"

"Maybe it's because I don't have much ambition in life. If you go this way, there doesn't seem to be a goblin guard here."

Finding an unguarded position on the city wall, Karl waved to Hope, then threw out the climbing rope and quickly climbed up the city wall.

This city wall is barely 5 to 6 meters high. It is full of cracks and is very easy to climb.

Even if Carl and Hope were very careful, it only took them more than 2 minutes to climb up.

Following the climbing rope to the inside of the city wall, Karl used the password to retract the rope.

Looking around, this goblin city is filled with buildings made of adobe bricks.

They are neatly distributed on both sides of the street, as if they were carved from the same mold.

Although it doesn't look very high-end on its own, once it grows in scale, it looks quite impressive.

"Why is it so quiet here? Looking at the size of this city, even if it is their sleeping time, it won't be so quiet, right?"

Approaching Karl, Hope whispered his doubts.

Karl quickly released his psychic energy, and the feedback from the psychic energy was: Within a radius of 300 meters, there were no other goblins except those on the city wall.

After telling Hope the results of the psychic exploration, the two looked at each other, a little confused for a moment.

"Look further and have a look!"

Helpless, the two had no choice but to continue deeper.

One hundred meters, two hundred meters, until the two of them had advanced a kilometer, they finally found signs of life around the city wall near the inner city.

Compared to the goblins guarding the outermost city wall, the ordinary goblins here have more standard equipment.

Inside the inner city wall they guard is the area where hobgoblins, bugbears, and ordinary goblins who have mastered professional skills and become professionals live.

But when the two climbed in again, the signs of life inside were still not much different from those in the outer city.

"Where have all these goblins gone? Spring outing?"

The continuous exercise made Karl quite tired. After hiding in an empty house, he complained to Hope angrily.

"No one is good? Do you plan to join me in slashing all the way from the main road here to the center?"

After playing with the battle ax in his hand, Hope gestured twice towards the air in front of him, as if he was imagining the scene of fighting against the goblin army.

"When something goes wrong, there must be a monster. I always feel like something happened. Let's go! Look deeper into the inner city!"

Feeling that his strength was almost restored, Karl stood up and greeted Hope to continue exploring the inner city.

After continuing to go deeper than two hundred meters, Karl's psychic energy finally detected dense signs of life.

"This is probably the place where goblins breed and nursery."

The goblins in the DND world are different from the teddy-like goblins in Japanese fantasy adventures. Although they have a strong desire to reproduce, they are reproductively isolated from other races.

Therefore, it is impossible for them to complete the genetic upgrade within the race by capturing women from other races.

Goblins have an extremely weak concept of spouses, and female goblins are "public property" within the goblin race.

Because even if two hobgoblins reproduce, there is a high probability that the offspring will be ordinary goblins.

Therefore, in addition to the daily expression of desires, the main task of reproduction is completed by ordinary goblins.

This will not only free up the labor force of female hobgoblins and female bugbears, but also give ordinary goblins more roles.

At present, the only race that can cross the barrier of reproductive isolation and reproduce with all races is the dragon race.

However, there has been no goblin with dragon bloodline in Khorvaire.

After all, no matter how idle the dragon race is, it will not find a goblin to spread its bloodline.

As the descendants of the ancestor dragon, the dragon race still attaches great importance to their own words and deeds.

So even the evil dragon race that worships the Yellow Spring Dragon Khyber at least retains some bottom line.

Hearing that this is the breeding place of goblins, Hope's face immediately showed a look of disgust.

"Let's go! Keep going forward, that should be a more important building in this city, go over there and take a look!"

Pointing to a building similar to the Roman Colosseum in front, Hope pulled Carl and left here quickly.

...

While Hope and Carl were exploring the city of the Traveler Tribe, on the forest side, the goblin coalition finally achieved a good result under the influence of the earth element plane.

Due to the influence of gravity, the functions of the Nautilus spacecraft declined in all directions.

The Goblin Alliance seized the opportunity and cut off the three tentacles on the Nautilus spacecraft, but many of them were killed or had their brains dug out by the Mind Flayer Arcanists.

The residual influence of the Dagon Empire made the cooperation between the Goblin Alliance gradually develop in a good direction. As one side gained strength while the other side lost strength, the Mind Flayer Arcanists' days became more and more difficult.

However, all this had nothing to do with Carl and Hope for the time being, because they found what they needed most in the "Roman Colosseum".
