Chapter 78: Sarn’s Specialties
Sarn is the largest city in Khorvaire, with a permanent population of 500,000.
One third are humans, one sixth are dwarves, and the rest are a mixture of all races found in Khorvaire.
In addition to the permanent population, thousands of people travel to and from the city every day.
The city is full of criminals, tourists, spies, merchants, and people looking for wealth.
It is worth mentioning that spies are a specialty of the entire Kingdom of Breland.
Along with it are various confusing cases.
…
"Wow--"
When Carl and Hope arrived in Sarn, it began to rain heavily.
The sound of countless raindrops falling to the ground was so loud that it obscured people's hearing.
After packing up everything, Carl sold the brig to the manager of Sarn Port for an extremely low price of 5,000 gold coins.
This kind of thing has long been commonplace for people in the port. After all, anyone with a discerning eye can see that the ship did not originally belong to this young man.
In the pouring rain, Carl and Hope stopped a carriage outside the port and spent 6 silver coins to let it take them to Sarn.
The driver complained about Hope, a tiefling, but when he saw the two chainsaws behind Hope, he soon stopped complaining.
After getting on the carriage, Carl breathed a sigh of relief and talked to Hope about the next trip.
"Is there anything you want to eat? Or do you want to buy suitable clothes and an umbrella first?"
Sarn actually has many similarities with Droum. As long as you have money, even if you are an unforgivable criminal, you can live a comfortable life here.
So this place is not as exclusive to tieflings as in other places, of course, the premise is that the tiefling is rich.
After her eyes stayed on the driver for a moment, Hope folded her arms and nodded.
"All up to you!"
After saying that, she curled up slightly.
More than an hour later, the carriage arrived at the gate of Sarn.
After getting off the carriage, the two looked up and saw towering towers reaching into the clouds, and above the clouds, there were even taller buildings floating.
In the City of Thousand Towers, the height of people's residences was directly equal to their status.
In order to show their uniqueness, the most powerful and wealthy people specially asked mages and mechanics to build buildings for them that could float in the clouds.
Although these buildings were not as powerful as the floating mage towers, they were also as solid as a rock.
"Let's go, into the city!"
After walking into the city with a swagger, Carl and Hope found that they had to climb the stairs before they walked far.
The closer to the surface, the simpler the infrastructure, and in the underground area of Sarn, the environment can even be considered harsh.
Fortunately, Carl and Hope were both strong young people, and they could still climb up a few hundred steps.
However, when the two were about to reach the upper block, two goblins in security uniforms stopped them.
"Well, the area above is the upper class area, and those who are not well dressed are not allowed to enter."
The goblin glanced at Carl and Hope, humming and saying something that he had to say at least hundreds of times every day.
"What does it mean to be well dressed?"
Because Hope had put the chainsaw into his backpack when he entered the city, the two goblin security guards were not as "aware of the current situation" as the coachman.
After hearing Carl's words, another goblin looked at Carl and Hope again, and then said impatiently:
"At least you have to wear a tie!"
It was a bit unworthy to get angry with such a guy. Carl originally planned to buy a good outfit for himself and Hope, so he did not argue with these two guys who looked down on others, but turned and walked into a clothing store a dozen steps below.
The owner of this store opened a ready-to-wear store here, which obviously accurately identified the "pain points" of tourists.
Carl even suspected that the two goblin security guards had shares in this store.
However, when Carl and Hope walked into the store, they found that things should not be so bad.
Although the clothes in the store are not famous brands, the quality and price are quite good.
"Huh? There are uniforms from our school here?"
After walking around the women's clothing area, Carl immediately found a style of clothing that caught his attention.
However, when he got closer, he found that this was not the school uniform of Akanix, but it looked similar.
Picking up such a piece of clothing, Carl put it on Hope for comparison and found that the size seemed to be quite suitable.
The student uniform of Akanix is roughly the same as the student uniform in the UK in the previous life, with a white shirt inside and a black and gray shoulder-length vest with the school emblem sewn on the outside, matched with a tie.
However, students in the school rarely wear this on campus because this school uniform is not very practical.
"Take this one!"
After stuffing the clothes into Hope's hands, Carl also went into the men's clothing area and began to choose clothes for himself.
However, there was no imitation uniform of Akanix in the men's clothing area, so Carl, who originally wanted to dress in the same outfit as Hope, had to buy other styles of clothes.
Soon, the two finished their selection.
After paying the bill at the cashier, they changed their clothes and walked out of the clothing store.
This time, the two goblin security guards did not stop them.
Carl and Hope found the station for the lightning train in the upper area and bought tickets to Erudenwana City in 9 days.
"There are still 9 days left. Come on, follow me to the post office to mail two letters. After you mail the letters, I'll take you to have some fun here."
After getting the ticket, Carl took Hope out of the station.
The Lightning Train in Khorvaire is similar to the Hogwarts Express, with a compartment system.
A ticket can carry up to four people.
An ordinary compartment costs 40 gold coins, a luxury compartment costs 100 gold coins, and a supreme compartment costs 250 gold coins.
There are not as many people in the station as in Carl's previous life, but the number of thieves is just as many.
The thieves like to find fat sheep here, but these guys who hang around on the streets are also very knowledgeable.
Seeing the faint firelight under Hope's skin, they knew that the tiefling in front of them was at least a level 3 professional, so few dared to approach rashly.
Few tieflings with the Hellfire attribute have good tempers. Even if the thieves are confident in their skills, they are afraid of the worst.
If you really reveal your true identity in front of such a tiefling, no one can resist the power of a close-range 2-ring burning hand.
"I heard that there seems to be a good hotel nearby, but it is so close to the station, the price and beds should be quite unfriendly. We don't need to be a sucker. Go a little further, maybe..."
Holding the Sarn travel guide distributed by the staff outside the station, Hope tried very diligently to find a good and cheap place to stay for the next few days.
However, as soon as the voice fell, a human male in a windbreaker suddenly fell from the corridor above and hit the ground not far in front of the two of them.
Carl quickly looked up, but only saw the back of a person wearing the same windbreaker turning away.
