Ashes and Kingdoms
3-1. Redirection
Chapter Three
"Okay, so... we're all here, right? Let's go."
Finn makes sure, Mac nods. The children each had a little water and food, and the two horses were connected to a luggage car that was barely safe. Like humans, the horses weren't in very good shape, but when Nellis talks, he walks out submissively. I was fortunate not to need your Lord. Because I can get a little more food.
Igross was still unhappy. Ultimately, he, too, has looked like he was forced to take bitter pills ever since, although he admitted that the future does not open up where he stayed here. If there was any trigger at all, that's why I said I'd stay, and I'd blame Finn.
Compared to that, his niece Farnayne and the kids at the beginning of Mac were good listeners. When I heard that I might be able to get to Winnea without running into the Dark Beast, Mac ate it first. It wasn't just optimism. When he found out it was grounded, he hit on the kids' persuasion. I guess he was also guessing that he had to get out of here and go somewhere.
He gathered all the food he could gather in town, loaded it in his luggage as far as the two horses could pull, and the line left two days after his arrival in the morning.
The children also all walked at first. Moving on to your little feet is rather tiring for adults, but there's not enough room for you to grab it. The horse can't go that fast either, so the walk of the line was a slow one.
Still, Finn breathed a ho relief as he could reach where Lena was saying in the evening. Blue tsyuksa flowers bloom on the side of the road, leaving wells in the grass that used to be farmland.
"Ah, deer."
One of the children points to the dark grass, and everyone turns around. Just outside the woods stood a deer that would have just been born this spring. I still don't know my fears, I look somewhere far away with my innocent eyes.
Cui, I heard a pro-deer calling from afar. The deer's ears move piquely and jump back into the woods.
"... you're going home"
Furnaine snapped. Ouch, I was awakened with sorrow by the word, and dusk came down upon the hearts of the children. Finn also looked at the woods in vain and thought of my home, which had become far away. The house where the tide was always heard. The windmill turns and the molar grinds the powder. When returning from town, the view always made me feel warm with my eyes. Will I ever walk down that road again someday, feeling the same way?
"Come on, help me," Fauna raised her voice to encourage a soggy line and began to support the meal. Draw water from the well, pick up dead branches and grass and start a fire. There is no more ground wheat, so I have to coarsely degrease it with a bowl and a poking stick, cook it and porridge it. At the behest of Fauna, the slightly older child takes the initiative to help and take care of the younger group. While living alone with the children, it seems that nature and sequence have been set.
All I could do was add some beans and vegetables, some porridge to taste or not, but still the kids ate to be greedy. You've been walking all day, and at least this is decent porridge.
After a crude dinner and cleaning up, the children laid a blanket on the grass, leaning against each other and falling asleep. There was not one Guru child. I guess there's no room for that.
I noticed the incineration was about to go out and Nellis transferred the fire to the corner light. Relying on that light, Fauna is turning every leg of the sleeping children upside down to make sure they are not having blood beans or blisters or injured.
Finn and Igross had placed the sword of the stripper beside them, clearing their ears to the surrounding sounds.
"... you don't seem to be answering tonight"
Slightly, Igross said. Finn nods, too, looking up at the sky. There are a few clouds out there, but it won't rain. Thank you.
Since the first night of duty, as it was, Finn always watched first, and Igross continued with the pattern of sleeping, so I thought he'd be asleep soon as usual tonight, but he still didn't move. When Finn was surprised and asked if he was going to take turns, Igross said in a low voice.
"Hope they don't leave again. Look, if the beast strikes you once... I won't help you then. I know all the other kids. It's not here. Let the beast eat you, but I'll take Farnayne and run away."
"-! Who are you..."
"I told you I'd stay in Tetna, don't forget. There was a fence, there was a safe temple, there was a chance I could live. And yet you insisted you take them all. It's on you."
It's an angry way to put it, but it must still be true. As Finn shut up, Igross whispered slowly, in an emotionless voice, threatening him.
"Look, if I screw up first... you're definitely gonna get Farnayne somewhere safe. You have a responsibility to do so. I swear, I will."
Finn stared at Igross in dismay. I have enough on my own. Tell me you won't help Finn, but if you die, take responsibility for it, I don't know.
But Finn couldn't be angry. Igross is serious. Whatever logic might be selfish, it's desperate for him - to live, not least to help his young niece.
"Okay. I swear."
Strictly as Finn raised his right hand and swore, Igross went by the children silently and lay down, looking a little loose of tension.
Finn was still thinking as he looked up at the dark sky.
- If I die.
It was something I didn't want to think about, but I have to think about it. The people who now live in this northern land, no one, without exception, are not even guaranteed tomorrow's life.
(Someone has to be entrusted with it. To whom...?
When I was thinking about it, there was a soft light in my sight at some point. Ha, face up, Finn grins. It's Lena.
"Evening."
I get greetings from afar. Finn glanced often, but realized he was too close to everyone, and stood up quietly and left the camp.
Lena wasn't the usual smile. It brings together a sad atmosphere, as Finn's anxiety contagious. Finn remained strong and calm in his mind, making a laugh and retrieving the map.
"Thanks to you, I was able to get here safely. Can you give me another tour?
"... Yep. Tomorrow..."
Lena looks around as she says, fingering the map. Finn knocked the topography of the place into his head and then took a map.
As the conversation broke, Finn stared at Lena. Looking at that grieving face, I knew what I was supposed to say.
"Lena, I don't feel comfortable asking you to do this... if I can't talk to you like this"
Ha, and Lena takes a breath. I see it. I see it. It moistens my eyes. In a hurry Finn places his hand on Lena's shoulder and grabs it gently.
"It's okay, I'm talking about what if. But I promised to take everyone to Winnea, so I'm responsible for doing it. I have to think about it so I can do something to myself. So... just calm down and listen to me. Ready?"
…………
Lena nodded silently and small. When I open my mouth, I'm going to cry now. Finn continued his words as he stroked her shoulder to do it.
"If I get hurt or something... if I can't talk to you, I still want you to keep showing everyone. You can talk to Nellis, right? Besides, if you're in a situation where you're alone, you can talk to your uncle and aunt, right?
Kokon, and Lena nods again.
"Later, maybe Mac can count on you as a commander, too. I'm just a kid, but I can get everyone together best. No matter what happens, someone within what I just said will be safe. I'll tell you about you, please."
Finn said, looking at the camp. I didn't think Lena would talk to Igross. Finn himself didn't hate him or not, but still, I could predict that it would be very impossible if it meant that Lena would be weak when she touched anger and hatred.
The rest of the kids, even if their minds are 'pretty', are too young to properly listen to Lena's directions. First of all, a situation where only such a child remains... is no longer desperate.
As Finn turned around thinking about it, Lena had tears all over her golden eyes.
"Don't die, Finn"
"It's okay," Finn accidentally laughed bitterly. "I'm not saying anything is life today or tomorrow. I don't want to die that easy either. We just talked about it in case, so don't look like that."
Finn wrapped Lena's cheek in a gentle palm. Close your eyes as Lena lays her hands on it and tries to erase the ominous future. Finn gave himself in very naturally, without thinking about anything, and lay her lips gently.
So you finally calmed down, and Lena didn't stop Finn from letting go, and she managed to smile by wiping the tears of what snorted. And then flutter and throw your arms at Finn and hug him.
Embracing that body that barely made it feel weighty, Finn slapped him on the back with a pound. You're a big kid, and at the same time Finn leaked a bitter laugh, "You know," Lena opened her mouth.
"I can see what's going on and what's going on... but I don't really know what people look like. I know you are, but I can only come out during the night... everyone sleeps at night, right? So... I can't tell you if that's a good person or not, even if I know there are people"
Realizing what Lena was trying to say, Finn changed his expression. If you let yourself go and peek into her face for a moment, a serious obsession returns.
"Humans are scared. So please, be careful."
"I'm human, too."
Finn grinned bitterly, putting his forehead firmly against Lena's forehead, which moistened his eyes again.
"I know. It's not my only life, so I'll be very careful.... Nevertheless, you've missed me a lot again. What the hell did you like so much?"
Lena blinked her eyes at Finn, who had a twisted tone of teasing and self-derision. Tilt your little neck, stare at Finn, and do it right.
"Why do you say it like that? Finn is so pretty."
"... thanks for that"
No, this. With a giving up look, Finn sneezed and stroked Lena's hair. Did you see that inside, Lena stared at Finn and stressed, "It's true."
"It may be hard for people to understand, but I do. You don't have to see exactly how pretty that person is. Finn is very clean. So I, you."
Lena swallowed the words, as she said that far and accidentally returned to me. Now it was Finn's turn to squeeze his eyes.
Soon Lena turns red, hands on her cheeks and bars.
"Lena?"
What the hell. In front of Finn's bewildered eyes, Lena wandered off alone, looked around even though there was nothing, and when she met Finn again, she stopped moving.
"... oh, good night!
Suddenly that's all I said, literally, disappeared like smoke.
The leftover fin stands flaunted and tilts his neck. Somewhere the owl howled.
