Ashes and Kingdoms

5-1. Fugitive (1)

Chapter Five

It took more days to pack and prepare the details of the plan. Meanwhile, rumors continued to spread rather than disappear, and various changed contents became whispered outside the barracks.

Not only did the dragon show up, but it swept away the bandits, from the story that no, it was an illusion invoked by the curse men hired by the legions, no, no, no, no, when one of the legion soldiers was in crisis, a dazzling light shot from heaven and the dragon came down - and so on. I made up stories, but even close to the truth.

It was only natural for this to happen that Valt, returning from the command room, called Finn with a sinister face.

"The commander wants to see you immediately."

"... what did you say?"

"About the collection of Igros' remains. But, well, that would be an excuse. I'll give you permission, but I need to check with him before I do."

Valt shrugged his shoulders and gargled wildly.

"I told him to make sure you were sober. 'I don't mind calling you, Commander, but he's been captive to the toilet with a terrible belly down since last night, so please be careful not to prolong it'. So show me your wretch at best. Whoa, bro, don't really leak it. When you come back with your stinky ass, I'll tighten it up."

The delightful captain was overwhelmed by some of the soldiers he had heard beside him. Finn withstood silently, rarely on the face. You really like "fuck you," keep your evil thoughts to yourself and shake your head small to get out of the jail. There was more laughter across the closed door, but I didn't want to know why.

Either way, I saved myself the hassle of acting because of my tiredness by not lowering it. Seeing Finn show up in the Commander's Office, Dilgius raised a single eyebrow and, after a frigid eye, coughed up and cut him out.

"I hear you're going to pick up the remains of Nanais' soldiers. Are you going to take a walk outside the walls, grabbing everyone you've brought in from the north?"

"No. It's dangerous, and the kids won't remember the place. My parents help me, and then there's only one more... I'll take Igross' niece. Because you might be able to identify the artifact."

To Finn, who answered carefully, Dirgius snapped his nose. Just like when I gave you the letter from Nanais.

"That's good."

Dilgius snapped like a solitaire and nodded. Finn's stomach twists. I was really going to feel sick.

That's good? So what do you say it's not good? What's the commander on guard?

Dilgius stared at Finn carefully and frowned when he saw him blued. If you are truly taking on the lies of Valt, you must have been concerned about something disgraceful to Finn.

"One more thing, confirmation. Rumor has it the dragon showed up to help you. It's true."

"Who would do that?

Unexpectedly Finn inquired with his eyes round. Regardless of the dragon rumors, why were you named? The doubt was, however, blown away by a ruptured eclampsia.

"It's this way I asked! Answer!!"

In a hurry Finn grabbed his expression and softened by remembering the act on the clap.

"Something's wrong, Commander."

Can I go now, answer weakly with a complaining voice, and steal a slight look at the door. Dilgius flashed his face, but to that extent he did not forgive me.

Then you say you haven't even seen a dragon.

"A dragon is such a thing... a rumor, isn't it?

At the same time you say it unreliably, you intuit that it's not, it's not the words they want. Finn continued his words as he dug up his memories of hitting the oysters.

"Even if he is, there is no way that just a powderer's son can help. Regardless of a more fine soldier...... excuse me, Commander, the"

Holding down his belly and looking at Finn, who had bowed forward, Dilgius had an arrogant grin full of scorn. The sight of Finn, who looked up at it, is red and black. What flashed behind my brain was the way Dilgius, who could follow a giant winged creature behind his back, stepped on forehead people and laughed.

(Give me a break, now)

Finn lay down his face in agitation and meditated his eyes. I can hear Dilgius sniffing over my head.

"Enough is enough, go"

Chasing a wild dog but being ordered by voice every now and then didn't bother me either. Finn greets there too, jumping out of the room like a roll. Only for a moment, the idea of what kind of rumors would come up later crossed his mind, but Finn quickly shook it off and ran out on a scale.

The northern suburbs of Winnea were like heaven and earth apart from when they passed before. In the summer, small white and light purple flowers spread carpets everywhere, and the sky is clearer and clearer than before when it was colder and colder. It's so hot, it's so hot.

Before off the street and out into the wilderness, Finn turned his foot to a painting of the cemetery. There is still one new stone, surrounded by numerous boring common graves of resemblance and stopover. No inscriptions, just names - Igross. It was Valt who arranged it, but he's not too keen on the same legion soldiers, even if he's a stranger to others.

Finn looked down at it often silently. Though I blurred to think that I would come up with some words to carve out, nothing came to mind. Either way, you don't need that. Finn bent down and put his hand under the headstone, wandering where the urn should be laid down. A small bag swept at his fingertips whispers faintly charming.

Feeling the gatekeeper's gaze on his back from afar, Finn grabbed it into his hand and quickly hid it in his nostalgia and walked out again in a no-eating flair.

Farnayne, who hasn't been out in a long time, had forgotten all about it just a month ago. Run after butterflies and birds, pick flowers, and turn them into snowstorms and scatter them. Oandus and Fauna also watched with a smile. What each has in hand is a lunch and water bottle for four.

Finn's luggage was bags and tools for collecting artifacts, plus swords and corner lights in case. There was also a reason why I could bring it up without being suspicious. Because if you can't get back by sundown and tighten up, it's tough to spend the night without fire, even without the danger of the Dark Beast.

After a while I took off the street and kept walking northeast, it was nearly noon and a familiar hill caught my eye. Even with the idyllic landscape where the flowers bloom, the place does leave an unmistakable pain.

Slowly climbing the slopes and looking down from the top, there were traces of burning black so that they could be buried in green grass. Traces of burning the luggage car and attaching Igross' body to a provisional cremation. Farnayne also seemed to be awakened to memory by the boulder for this, which turned off her expression and quieted her down.

Everyone was silent while working. Oandus and Finn wreak havoc, excepting carbide horizontal trees and axles. Fauna walked around with Farnein and looked for what was falling.

Some time later, they gathered their respective harvests in their hands.

Not that I didn't expect it, but still, it was a little spicy that Igross' bones - nobody's bones - remained. Were they eaten by dark beasts or scattered because foxes, wolves, etc. took them away? What was found was the stopper of the sword belt, the idyllic wreckage of the little amulet, and the slices of shoelaces and clothing that were not clear whose belonged.

"Well, either way, you can't go to the grave."

Oandus laughed bitterly, and Finn nodded and dug a small hole on the spot. Burying the remnants of what once lived on this earth, and piling some small stones on top, he set a small fire in front of it. Baking incense and offerings is the way it was supposed to be, but now there's nothing.

The four of them prayed silently until the fire went out, and then when they left the spot a little and lowered their hips on the grass, they took a lunch with them. Twice baked sunny bread, water and cheese, plus a little fruit. The content is qualitative, but the quantity was sufficient. More than you can eat at once.

Seeing as there was still dried apricots or something in the bag, Farnein was more of a screw, but Fauna slowly stopped it and started cleaning it up.

"Are you leaving already?

Boring, Farnayne says, pointing her mouth. Finn gave an ambiguous look, answered briefly "no" and smiled. Farnayne glowed her face with joy, but when she noticed the odd atmosphere of the adults looking down at her, she turned off her grin in confusion.

"I'm not leaving, Farnayne. I'm not going back to the orphanage."

Finn tells him quietly. Farnayne frowned at anxiety and anger while she watched, distorting her mouth and about to cry out.

"Why? No, I'm going home."

Said frightened, Farnayne stood up softly. But Finn's hand caught the arm. Even though I was scattered worried about how to say it, all Finn could say was too fragile a fact.

"No. When you get back to the orphanage, they're gonna kill you."

"Liar! Why are you saying that!?

Farnayne rumbled where she waved her arms, and when she saw that it was not going to work, she raised a golden cut that stuck her ears.

"Farnayne! I'm not lying, you can't go to his mansion"

Finn managed to persuade him, but the words also didn't arrive undone by Farnayne's screams.

"Get off me! I hate you so much, get off me! Idiot!"

Farnayne beats Finn to a mess with her little fist, shakes her hair and cries out. and Fauna, who had been static until then, knelt beside him, raising her hand gently.

He gets his cheeks snapped and Farnayne opens her eyes to surprise and fear. Fauna said harshly in the gap where the scream stopped.

"Be quiet. Otherwise, we'll hit harder next time."

Farnayne takes a breath and shrinks to a strong voice that doesn't make her say yes or no. With its deep green eyes, Fauna looked relentlessly.

"It's not always good people who give you treats, Farnayne. That man... Nialdo is going to eat you like a wolf after he brings you to his mansion with sweets. That's why we have to run."

…………

Farnayne shook her head small, but did not speak. Instead, I cling to Finn's arm, which I was about to shake until just now. As Fauna reached out, she clasped her neck even more as a scarecrow.

Fauna smiles bitterly and keeps doing it with her messy dark hair done.

"Are you scared? But if I go to that man's mansion, this will happen every day. They make you do a lot of things you don't like, and if you cry, you get hit dozens of times instead of once, and then the same hand strokes you. Your body."

".................. lying"

"I'm not lying. Be smart, Farnayne. You are so cute, there are a lot of guys out there who will try to call you in kind words with sweet treats, beautiful clothes and flowers. But most of those men, they don't love you. With you wasting your time finding your cute doll and wanting it. If you play a little, you'll get bored and throw it away."

"That's a lie. Uncle Nialdo, something sweet. You said you'd take care of me."

Farnayne argued weakly and began to squirm again. Now Fauna didn't scold me, either, to be quiet.

"That's what men often say. You're the only one special."

To the sword swallowing lurking in a pale tone, the two men, silently refraining, looked at each other. Now Fauna was not a mother or wife, she was one woman.

"My cousin had someone as cute and lovely as you. But the bastard man tricked me into dying. I don't want that to happen to you. Remember not to jump on the sweets in front of you. Be patient, be careful. Okay?"

Furnaine nodded small when she was told. But actually, I guess I don't know anything. That look that spills tears and bites my lips complains that this kind of manipulation is unreasonable, awful, not really.

Still, we can't hang out until our young minds are convinced right now. When the adults looked at each other and each sighed small, they stood up.

"All right, let's go. Farnayne, can you walk?

Even to Finn's question, Farnein stares to the ground and answers nothing. On behalf of Finn, who looked at his parents in trouble, Oandus held the girl up.

"I'll hold him for a while. You have to leave only one hand free."

"Excuse me. Please"

Finn lowered his head with a pepper, looked around and then walked out in the lead.

Towards the northeast so that you can exit the streets leading to Far Nanais.
