Ashes and Kingdoms
1-2. Comrith's Powder Shop
"Thank you! Apparently it's going to be over by the end of the day, and let's take a little break"
The farmer's loud voice echoes in the vineyard. More than a dozen men carrying cages for harvest came together cheering to say thank you. Stop in the shade of a large oak tree and soak up the cold well water prepared by the ladies.
"I'm glad you guys are here this year. When" The Powder Shop "asked me to do it, I twisted my neck."
The farmers laughed and the men sitting in the shade reacted vaguely, clapping their shoulders and spilling bitter laughter. The youngest, dark-haired young man, who still looks like he might turn twenty, said with a soft grin in his blue sharp eyes.
"Because I just happen to live in a windmill cabin. Formerly a runner."
"Oh yeah, there are a lot of drifters these days"
The farmer turned true and nodded heavily. But soon he smiles again, slapping the young man's shoulder rough and intimate.
"But you're not like the bad guys. I also feel like I somehow know what it was before it flowed to Comrith, but, well, that's a good idea. If I ask you guys, they'll do a good job. Boy, uh, was it Phineas? You especially have a reputation for being serious and honest no matter what you make them do."
Then he was beaten often, and Phineas grinned bitterly, as troubled. Because I was able to anticipate the next dialogue. The farmer gave in and dived his voice, whispering as if he were going to do anything.
"I liked your work, too. What do you say, we have two daughters, but aren't you willing to come to your son-in-law? I'll let you pick whoever you want."
"I appreciate the story, but I won't"
When Finn quietly refused, the farmers did not eat either, and unfortunately clasped their shoulders depending on whether they seemed light. It is customary in this city to make offers of this hand to young people, both men and women, in praise of their work. Of course that may really make it a marriage, but the majority of it is a liturgical one. Although Finn was also surprised at first, he settled into Comlis for roughly a month and was now completely used to it.
Valt, who is narrowing his eyes to the leaky yang on the side, doesn't chill much, but rather blurs with envy.
"Phineas, how many times have you done this? Damn, I wish I was ten years younger. Here's my wife and I'll spend the rest of my life relaxing."
"If I were ten years younger, I wouldn't be able to relax for the rest of my life."
When Finn pointed out to discipline, some of the people around him laughed. They're all friends from Winnea. Apart from Finn, of course, there are a few who have been told by their son-in-law, but so far no one has been talked to.
Finn thought that the eleven former legion soldiers would be disbanded immediately after they reached Comris. But the coincidence knot that brought Finn and them together was apparently stiffer than I thought.
When Oandus and Fauna asked the man in the city if there was anywhere they could stay or give us a job, they looked at the two children who seemed anxious between the couple. A luxurious boy with an adorable face and a dirty but likely glowing girl if polished.
The man happened to know these people who wanted these kids for a high price. Therefore, I kindly told him to go to the windmill cabin and tell him that if it was my introduction, he would give me a job.
The man, of course, did not know that besides the couple and two children, there would come more than ten nasty men.
Windmills and their warehouses, built at the edge of the Cape, have been occupied for some time by poorly natured flowers, making it a place to sell and buy things that cannot be traded grandiose on the table, but without knowing otherwise, the line is somewhat pushy...
As a result, they knocked out the natives and turned them into their own twists.
The city folks initially regarded the next inhabitants as very different from the previous ones, but were surprised because they repaired the windmill and really started working on the powder shop.
Oandus' honest personality quickly grabbed the customer, and his spread reputation and connections led him to the next task he could assign to other faces. Comrith was a rich city with farmland spread out nearby and needed as much manpower as he could.
That's why they are now collectively referred to as' powder shops', to the point where they have no difficulty eating. It may be easier than when you were a legion soldier because you are in a position to be allowed to rest in the shade of a relaxing tree.
Though not all of them could enjoy it.
Confirming the farmer had pulled into the house, Valt roared with a nasty stretch.
"But what, don't be restless that this is peaceful every day. The hole in my ass mumbles. I've been dealing with a bandit who's a beast of darkness for a while now, and the red stain on my clothes is not blood, it's grape juice."
'Cause I'm gonna stumble on it.'
Plast bursts into the blur, and Valt bites, "I didn't". Finn laughed a little and looked over at the vineyards stretching beneath the blue sky.
"Sure, you feel a little weird"
It's as if all that tragic northside situation was a lie. Or just ourselves sneaking out of hell, like backwards.
I'm not saying that there's no such emotion at all. Although.
"... but I like living like this"
Finn snapped quietly, with emotion.
The only answer to that was the sound of leaf slippage soaring in the gentle wind.
Eventually the break was over, and the dough shop faces were once again refined for harvest, and before sundown they were to arrive on their way home. Walking down a suburban path, you can see the city of Comlis, which is about to cramp between the sea and the mountains. On the coast a little north of there are regimental barracks.
That said, there was no need to be frightened.
Legion soldiers look around more suburbs, a line of bonfires lined up along the perimeter where farmland ends. Sometimes they come to the streets for patrols, but they don't pay much attention to whether they are refugees or deserters. We just have to get to the city of Comrith from here anyway, and the citizens and vigilantes solve the city thing. Legion soldiers are all they need to get out of the darkness.
Because of this situation, Finn and the others were able to quickly enter the city and blend in. If they don't even cause problems, they'll be allowed to reside wherever and by whomever.
Returning to the city, the Valts rolled out to the tavern, and Finn broke up with one person and headed to the temple.
As exemplified by the example, the temple was also situated on a mountainside high ground in this city. Climb the ramp under the western sun on your back and creep through the gates of the Temple of Nena. First Nellis found Finn and waved happily. A number of clear little lights overlapping its appearance enter your eyes faster than your voice can reach you. Finn had come to understand what Lena meant when she said "I can see it even from afar" these days.
"Tired, brother. Mac will be bringing Farnayne in soon."
Nellis worked that way first, exploring the bag he had raised on his shoulder and removing a roll of books from between wax plates and writing fixtures.
"Yes, this is the book I was asked to do."
"Oh, I'm sorry"
"Fine," Nellis grinned bitterly when he was apologized for by discipline. "Your brother never gets tired of it, either. I'm going to the library anyway, and generally because if your brother walks into the temple himself, he'll definitely find someone and make a scene... I think I told you before?
I was sarcastically told, Finn had no choice but to clasp his shoulders. And spread the book a little to deceive. It's a paper scroll made of reed fiber. It was very recently that I was able to lend these books because they are brittle than those spelled parchment. Thanks to Nellis' diligence and the reputation of the 'powder shop'.
Nellis peeks into Finn's hand from the side and admires the age.
Since settling in Comlis, Phineas had been reading and fishing from one end for heirloom and historical writings held in the temple. To know a little about the dragon and the dragon marquis.
"I already borrowed this book of hands coarsely... but did it bear fruit?
"No."
Finn answers terminally and fastens the roll.
"There's nothing specifically useful about that. The content is interesting."
There were not too many specific portrayals of how the dragon marines wielded their power in the war against the Dark Family. Moreover, apparently, the power that Dragon Hou gains depends on the tied dragon, and there are few descriptions that are likely to guide Finn.
The prestigious Roflus clan of the present Nornicom, for example, is its first contemporaries, once bonded with the dragon of Gens, the god of fire. He manipulated the flames and said that without ever suffering burns, the enemies pierced by that spear instantly burned up and turned into ashes.
On the other hand, the king of the Fidae, who bonded with the dragon of Org, the god of hidden power, hid himself behind a deep forest with his clan, saying that he had never allowed himself to enter from the outside world since, nor had he shown himself.
"The only thing I appreciate is that apparently Dragon Marquis can defeat the beast of darkness, even with a normal sword or spear,"
"Can you take him down? I mean, not just get rid of him?
"Oh. Even in the darkness without a single candle, even if it is not a blessed special weapon, it seems that with the power of a dragon we can fight the beast of darkness. I don't really care, but if we were to fight them again, it wouldn't be as tough as Nanais' night."
As Finn said quietly, Nellis shook and held us for a long time. Finn strokes his head with a pong so as to ease his sister's anxiety.
"We're talking hypothetical. Don't worry about it."
"... yeah"
Nellis nodded, but that look doesn't clear. Because I know the darkness didn't disappear from the way it went. Finn was also aware of that, and therefore there were times when extra anxiety was silent about giving away.
I've read a variety of books, but there's one thing that bothers me.
- There are extremely few descriptions of Dragon Hou's "final period".
They're supposed to be dying at some point, too, because I don't hear about them still living, except for the example that killed them even more in the war, most of which has been omitted.
... and how many times today the family members of Dragon Marquis have laid the foundations of their homes. How did the Dragon Marquis, who became the first emperor, live, what role did he play in the fight between humans after the war, and what happened to the Dragon Marquis after his death? When it comes to "afterwards," the treatment is smaller, as if Dragon Hou had disappeared at some point.
(Couldn't be happier, I'm sure)
Finn exhaled softly in his heart. Maybe that's why Lena apologizes so much. If you, as a good lord, have fulfilled your heavenly life as a good family, you must have a record of merit and admiration. The Naenas in the country in particular are so teased with the recording demons that they want to keep their own and the achievements of their households in inscriptions and books. The absence of it means that you have spent the rest of your life completely innocently, or...
(Did the Dragon Hou family descendants die the way they think they wanted to erase it from the record and make it something they didn't?)
As for Finn, I can only hope that will be the farthest possible future.
Shake your head to pay off the dark mood and look up at the sky at the same time.
"Brother Finn!
Mac's bright voice called. I just took Farnayne and came out of the orphanage.
Finn raised one hand and responded accordingly, asking a routine question, how'd it go? Mac smiles and responds, as usual.
"You learned to multiply today, didn't you? The teacher praised Farnayne for her memory."
Hey, and Mac talks to me, and Farnayne proudly distracts her breasts. Once again I was able to live in the city and she was totally back on track.
