Ashes and Kingdoms

2-3. Night in the Mountains

That night Finn decided to have the blue fog put on an archery.

Even after settling in Comris, our archery was not indispensable, and we worked with our companions, but the former legion soldiers, who sold off both their shields and armor, lacked seriousness and did not seem to think that the only swords and bows left on hand would be useful again. I couldn't help it because I thought I couldn't go back to the Legion anymore, and Finn wanted a peaceful life, so I can't deny that he was just a little loose mentally and physically.

In that regard, the blue fog was harsh.

What he teaches is a rough way of fighting the Sarda tribe, unlike the regimental fluency and the ancient swordsmanship of the Vitians that Finn once taught.

He continued his archery with his sword for a while, but eventually when one or two of his companions fell asleep, Blue Mist cared for the sound and turned it into a bare-handed way of fighting. Either way, I can't stand around flashy, so I'm going to make every move slowly, politely, and quietly. For Finn at last to keep up with unfamiliar behavior, as much as I appreciate it.

By the time I found out that blue fog was the one to fear even with my bare hands, Finn was completely hectic. He flipped over to the meadow and let him breathe and whisper.

"I remember the old alarm. The Sardas will never be alarmed."

"Those hands are just empty for your life and your money, okay? I don't know how many good bandits we are, but I don't think gold can save our lives anyway."

Blue fog had no distracted wind and laughed low. Finn just gave an ambiguous look and looks up at the night sky in silence. The stars are so dazzling because there is no moon.

Finn said as he unconsciously searched for the shape of the constellation, he thought of it.

"One, please"

"What?

"Would you mind not informing my family about your age... if I could? Not yet..."

Blue fog gazed at the cloudy fin at the end of the story. And he smiles slightly all the time.

"Okay. But I wouldn't dare hide it. Sooner or later, they'll know."

"Yes."

Answered briefly, Finn got up. When I saw the family sleeping around the burning fire, I felt my chest tightened. By that warm flame, it's like my place is gone already...... a vague feeling of loneliness that goes off the circle of light and not just sinks into the darkness, but has a pompous knee at the border between the two. Now if you still reach out, you'll reach your family. But one day...

(Let's not, I can't help thinking about that ahead)

Finn shook his head and sighed small. Being pessimistic from now on doesn't change the future. If you're going to taste it anyway, you can just throw it in some storage and lock it up until then, such as a bitter separation.

(At least, because we can be together now)

Blue fog abruptly changed the story to see if Finn had regained his mind.

"Have you ever fought the Sardas?

"Huh? No, no way. I've seen you in Nanais once, but you're the first person I've spoken to or paired with."

To a decent fin, the blue fog gave me an intriguing twist.

"So you're blessed with qualities. Swallow fast. During this winter, you may have learned how to fight us."

"Really?"

Finn just leaned his neck surprisingly and didn't even realize he was complimented.

"The soldier who taught me swordsmanship also told me I was quick to remember... it's easy to remember the shape, but it's not like I'm proficient again. It's just a trick for me."

"Even so, it's better than being slow to learn. It's important to be able to move your body as much as you want. If you have a habit of relying only on the power of dragons, it's troublesome."

"... Yes"

Finn nodded mysteriously and turned his eyes to the darkness.

Similar to the rock that rested during the day, but there is an impending tree stand nearby. The rock floats blurry white with faint stars, but dark darkness beyond. I would have been frightened of that once and truly asked for more light, but not now.

Thanks to Lena.

If you think it's about a wild beast to be vigilant, it's easy to watch.

That's what I thought and let go of my mouth, that's exactly when it happened.

Kissi......

A heterogeneous sound caught the darkness of the night, only slightly. Finn gets a little giddy, hips up and grabs the sword. In the darkness, there was a pounding blue light.

"How could...!

Next to Finn, who whispered gasping, the blue mist does not move while sitting flat. Finn also noticed the difference and frowned.

Kissi...... Cali, Cali,...... Kissi

Blue lights roam in and out, making small noises. But it doesn't look like it's coming close. And neither the fear nor the chill I had always felt had snuck up to Finn.

While Finn was confused, the blue light went off all the time. It's like, that's what foxes and wolves just sneak in to see how it goes, wasted. Finn clapped out and lowered his hips with a sledge.

"What was it, what is it now?"

"It's a beast of darkness. I think I know." Blue fog melts.

"It's not like I know," Finn answered seriously, twisting his neck. "I couldn't feel the hatred or the chill. The guys I've come across are bound to come under tremendous momentum. There was only one exception, even then, when he approached me, I froze my eyelashes and froze to my soul."

"Yes, I mean, it's not like the lowland ones or the mountain ones."

Blue fog nodded and circled his gaze around him.

"As you can see, in the mountains the sun's rays do not reach enough. Even at midday in the summer, darkness has always been there and has lived with us. No, we've been more reluctant to dwell in the darkness, I guess I should say. So the Dark Families in the Mountains have no fierce hatred for humans. Of course we're not close neighbors, but it's not like we just smell each other's fangs and roar."

"It's like another world. It would be incredible if you hadn't seen it with these eyes"

Finn sighed, then he realized all the time and snapped, "Right."

So the Sardas don't like people in the lower realm entering the mountains. Just as in the lowlands, if they do not accept the darkness of the night approaching and burn the brilliant lights, driving away and hurting the beasts of darkness from the shade they find, they will all become haters of man. If that happens, it is the Sardas who continue to live in the mountains that annoy them.

It is not simply my in-laws who want to delay Dilgius' eighth legion from crossing the line. From now on, the night will be longer and the power of darkness will increase. The clash between the Dark Beast and the Legion would be harsh, having forcefully marched through it.

"You seem to understand."

The blue mist smiled and Finn nodded small.

"Here we must bow our heads against the darkness."

"That's the thing. Tell your people, too."

Finn honestly nodded yes when asked, but, uh, I wondered why it was me, and I was caught in a strange mood. Of course, there would be quite a few reasons why it would be easier for Dragon Hou to talk to each other, or if he happened to be doing an archery. But I'm not a representative of my people. Rather, because of his title in the Legion, his experience in action, and his age, isn't Valt more deserving of that seat?

I remember Mac once asking me if I was a great man in the Legion, and Finn, one, scratched his head a little.

"Anything inconvenient?

The blue mist asks, "Oh." Finn answered "No," then flaunted his shoulder small.

"I thought maybe I had a big attitude."

If you can't follow the path of thought, it's a word that seems abrupt. The blue mist was neat during the bundle, but it swept away. I almost laughed out loud at the stake and managed to indulge in it.

"I don't think so. You're calm, and it's easy to do business because you know what you're doing. Neither grandeur nor transgression. Don't worry."

"Really?"

Then good, while Finn was relieved, Lena touched the flutter and heart.

That's right. Finn is a beautiful thing. "

No, I don't think so.

Finn smiled bitterly. I now know that what she calls "pretty” doesn't just mean beautiful, whether it's on the inside or on the outside, but it's impossible for a normal person to see others like her. Whatever the people around him value Finn, it wouldn't really matter if he was “pretty” or not.

But thank you.

To thank you, on the contrary, it conveys feelings that are somewhat illuminated. Unexpectedly Finn smiled, then he noticed a much blue-fogged stare and took up his expression. Blue fog smiles and looks far away, as if to see Lena through Finn.

"You seem to have a good relationship with Deia's dragon."

"Yeah, well," he deceives you, and Finn tells them a story. "Speaking of which, your dragon won't show up."

"I'm sorry, but he's not a very good acquaintance. With me, all I've ever seen is count. Besides, it's the dragon of darkness. It's the same as the Dark Beast, and even if you know you're there, you can't even see your figure clearly."

Finn remembers the night of Nanaith when he was told, and it was dull. People's eyes cannot see the darkness. So the eyes of the beast - even if you can see that blue light, you will never see it to the contour, and even when you occasionally come out within the reach of the light, the more you stare, the less you know.

Finn looked at the blue mist with a shine again and wondered how this man had bonded with such a dragon. But I felt it was against courtesy to ask, and he was just silently turning away and staring behind the darkness.
