Azeroth Monster Manual
#105 - I have been flying kites all my life, but today someone actually mistook me for a kite?
As the last syllable of 'Edman' echoed, the atmosphere in the entire arena reached a fever pitch.
Over fifty thousand spectators were chanting the names of the two gladiators, further fueling Antonidas's excitement.
"Is this the allure of gladiators? No wonder that Edman guy…"
"Speaker, daydreaming isn't a quality befitting a gladiator, is it?"
Like a phantom, the young man's figure instantly appeared before Antonidas. Before the Archmage could react, the giant shield, radiating an eerie light, hurtled towards his face.
"Bang!"
Antonidas looked in surprise at the Ice Shield he had released at the last moment. The legendary Ice Shield actually cracked inch by inch under the impact of the giant shield. In less than an instant, it transformed into a pool of translucent magical fragments and disappeared.
As soon as the giant shield landed, the spinning blade in the young man's right hand stabbed diagonally towards the Archmage's waist and abdomen at a tricky angle.
Antonidas didn't dare to be careless. A faint purple glow surrounded him as he teleported away.
The sharp spinning blade was as fast as lightning but only grazed the air. Ayrton sensed something was wrong because a scorching magical fluctuation was already approaching his back.
"Buzz."
Ayrton didn't have time to think. He instinctively twisted his body, bent his knees slightly, and held the giant shield in front of him.
Like a meteor, a scorching hot boulder rushed towards the young man at lightning speed. The audience in the stands didn't have time to exclaim because it was too fast. Only a second had passed since the host announced the start, and they hadn't even reacted yet. They were all stunned.
"Hmph, even if your shield is a rare epic-quality item, how many rounds can it withstand against an Archmage's Fireball?"
Antonidas sneered inwardly, but his movements didn't stop. During the Fireball's flight, the highly accomplished Archmage actually released three or four more Fireballs.
Metamagic: [Chain Fireball]
Ayrton maintained his initial defensive stance, but the blood-red Shattered Halberd Barrier emitted a milky white light in a split second.
In the blink of an eye, several meteor-like Fireballs flew towards the Shattered Halberd Barrier in front of Ayrton, but the violent explosion didn't occur. The Fireballs bounced back like billiard balls as soon as they touched the young man's Shattered Halberd Barrier.
[Shield Reflection] (Arcane Version)
"Not good!"
Antonidas seemed to sense something was wrong. He teleported several times towards the edge of the arena, but the Fireballs, flying straight, seemed to have a navigation system installed. After turning a few corners in the air, they flew towards Antonidas again.
"What kind of move is this that can lock onto the caster's position?"
Seeing that the Teleport spell failed to evade the Fireballs flying towards him, Antonidas simply stopped dodging.
He began to chant spells rapidly. In a breath, azure frost magic covered the Archmage's eyebrows. A giant ice orb, shimmering with icy cyclones, floated up and met the incoming Fireballs head-on.
It was the [Ice Orb] that Kima had once released, but Antonidas's Ice Orb looked even more powerful than Kima's.
"Sizzle, sizzle…"
The Fireballs, carrying tremendous kinetic energy, didn't cause the violent explosion the audience expected when they encountered the giant Ice Orb. Instead, they disappeared instantly as if ice and snow had melted.
This wasn't over. The Ice Orb continued its momentum and flew quickly towards Ayrton's direction. Everywhere it passed, the originally hard rock surface froze into frost, making crisp 'crackling' sounds.
At this time, the young man had already disappeared, but the Ice Orb, like the Shield Reflection just now, had a guidance system installed. It turned a corner at an incredible angle and flew straight towards Antonidas not far away.
"Sigh, as expected, he's a difficult enemy."
Ayrton appeared from [Greater Invisibility] and sighed helplessly. This Ice Orb also had a built-in lock-on function, just like Antonidas's returned gift.
Ayrton dodged the Ice Orb left and right. Antonidas in the distance didn't miss this excellent opportunity and began to chant quickly. Before long, more than a dozen giant Water Elementals occupied most of the arena.
"1, 2, 3… 16! Damn it, there are sixteen Legendary Water Elementals. Is this old man a son of Neptulon? How did he do it?"
Ayrton was running for his life while dodging the powerful Water Arrows and Heavy Hammer Strikes of the giant Water Elementals. For a moment, the young man seemed to be in an irreversible dead end.
"The good news is that summoning so many creatures must have consumed a lot of Antonidas's mana. His mana pool might already be empty. As long as I approach him, this battle will… Damn it, how is that possible?"
Ayrton was walking a tightrope in the 'Water Arrow Net' released by the sixteen Legendary Water Elementals like a butterfly flitting through flowers. Just as he was about to rush towards Antonidas to end this difficult battle, he found that the Archmage, who should have been depleted of mana, was leisurely casting a magic shield on himself.
"No matter how gifted you are, you're just an inexperienced brat, Ayrton Salona. You simply don't understand the importance of spirit to a mage!"
Although Antonidas was proud in his heart, he didn't relax. He watched the young man using Teleport to replace frantic running and couldn't help but become vigilant.
So this scene appeared. Whenever Ayrton teleported towards Antonidas while enduring the Water Elementals' attacks, the Archmage would teleport in the opposite direction.
"Damn it, I've kited others for a lifetime, and today I'm being kited."
Ayrton cursed inwardly. In a moment of distraction, an elemental fist as big as a hill slammed heavily into him.
"Bang!"

The Legendary Water Elemental's elemental fist slammed heavily into Ayrton, but something amazing happened. The Water Elemental didn't smash the frail young man into a meat pie. On the contrary, the fist, as big as a hill, seemed to have touched something and instantly turned into a pool of clear water, pouring over the young man.
"Forget it, it seems I'm still too naive. For Archmages like Antonidas, any clever trick is just a waste of time. To deal with such an enemy, I can only defeat him head-on. As expected, unleashing my full power is the path I should pursue."
Ayrton wiped his wet golden hair in a mess, and his eyes became firm.
Just as Ayrton was in a precarious situation, fighting fiercely with Antonidas's summons, the host, Edman, finally recovered and excitedly explained:
"Speaker is indeed a veteran Archmage. Audience, please observe these Water Elementals carefully. These Water Elementals are not simple summons. They are summons that the Speaker has personally signed a contract with the Hydrossian Water Elemental. These summons are all named Elemental Lords!"
"As everyone knows, only high-level mages can summon such powerful elements, but the Water Elementals summoned by high-level mages are only mid-level."
"By analogy, the Water Elementals summoned by Archmages can only be epic-level, but our Speaker seems to have broken this curse!"
"Did you see it? 16! A full sixteen! These are 16 Legendary Water Elementals, audience! Cheer, cheer for the Speaker's superb magical skills!"
"Long live Antonidas!"
"Kirn Tor is invincible!"
…
The people, who were originally immersed in the wonderful battle below, became even more excited after hearing the host Edman's explanation. Those who supported Dalaran, both civilians and mages, all stood up and shouted the names of Kirn Tor and Antonidas.
"Instructor Ayrton, he…"
Millhouse clenched his small hands tightly, not daring to look at the embarrassing figure of the young man below.
"Don't worry, Instructor Ayrton will surely win this victory!"
Although Olverdo also looked nervous, he patted Little Millhouse on the shoulder and comforted him.
…
"It's appeared! That magic-immune state from the battle with Kima has appeared again!"
Antonidas stopped his movements, staring unblinkingly at the Water Elemental that had lost an arm. Although the Water Elemental's arm was restored to its original state in an instant, its original huge size of more than ten meters had shrunk by a fifth.
"Ayrton Salona, let me see what you're hiding?"
