Azeroth Monster Manual
#129 - Summon Hesis
Following Aier's lead, the group arrived at the training grounds of Eagle's Nest. It was the most spacious area that Kurdran could find. Even from a distance, they could see that Akumai's massive frame occupied all the open space on the training grounds.
"How is it? Can the ritual begin?"
Aier asked in a deep voice, looking over the makeshift altar.
"Almost ready."
Wen Nuo Xisi was currently busy. Upon hearing Aier's words, he respectfully replied. From his flustered expression, the young man could tell that the troll was under a lot of psychological pressure.
Turning his head to nod at Fostad, Fostad understood and waved his hand, dismissing the dense ranks of Wildhammer guards surrounding Wen Nuo Xisi.
Casting a grateful glance at Aier, the troll plunged back into his frantic work.
Time passed. Just as Kurdran and Hemit were growing impatient, Wen Nuo Xisi finally stopped what he was doing.
"Lord... the ritual can begin."
Letting the sweat drip down, Wen Nuo Xisi paid it no heed. He merely lowered his head nervously, his entire body trembling slightly.
Silently watching the troll before him, Aier simply patted him on the shoulder, leaving him with a meaningful look.
"Please, everyone, stand back for a moment."
Aier made a gesture of invitation. The group knowingly nodded and retreated to the military camp behind them.
"Your Highness, will Instructor Aier be alright on his own...?"
Luo Mansi gestured with his chin towards the distant altar, speaking to Kael'thas.
Standing under the eaves, Kael'thas simply waved his hand. From the prince's carefree expression, Luo Mansi could see confidence, an absolute certainty in the young man's strength.
The battle of the century between the young man and Antonidas had left an indelible memory in Kael'thas's mind, filling him with confidence in the youth.
Meanwhile, on the other side, the trio and Hemit were whispering to each other with their heads lowered.
"You three brats, if Aier is in danger later, I'll rush out first. You guys cover me from behind."
Hemit said quietly to the trio.
"But... Instructor told us to watch you and not let you cause trouble."
Kalaien didn't dare to look the old dwarf in the eye, but still stammered.
Hemit: ...
Where is the most basic trust between people?
...
Wen Nuo Xisi nodded, just about to say something to Aier, when he realized that the young man had already disappeared.
Just then, a faint voice rang in his ear.
"Don't worry, I'm right beside you. Begin the ritual."
Hearing the young man's words, the fear in Wen Nuo Xisi's eyes gradually receded. The troll turned around and slowly knelt down.
Although the altar was simple, everything that was needed was already prepared. In the center of the altar was a lifelike statue of a venomous snake, an essential tool for summoning Hexis.
"The river of time flows with your wisdom and proverbs...
The seat of the Zandalar gods is for you to occupy...
Venom and cunning are your nature...
... Praise you, praise the great Serpent King Hexis!"
Listening to Wen Nuo Xisi's prayer filled with praise, Aier couldn't help but reveal a contemptuous smile.
A reptile, truly thinking himself an omnipotent deity? Doesn't he know that after the founding of the country, spirits are not allowed to become refined?
"Boom..."
"Crack..."
The originally clear sky became overcast with dark clouds in the moment after the troll finished chanting the prayer. Thunder rumbled, and several lightning bolts snaked across the sky, but strangely, despite such a grand display, no rain fell.
"All thunder and no rain, not much skill, but a big temper."
The young man curled his lips, staring disdainfully at the smoke-filled altar.
Although his words were harsh, Aier was still on high alert. A Loa capable of manipulating the power of nature must not be a nobody. This serpent god named Hexis was not as simple as Wen Nuo Xisi had said.
"Who is summoning me...?"
A chilling, eerie voice rang out. Aier was sure he had never heard such a bizarre sound, but he definitely understood the meaning contained within this language.
"Great Serpent King, please accept the offerings that I offer to you..."
Wen Nuo Xisi simply prostrated himself on the ground, not daring to look at the scene before him.
The misty smoke gradually dissipated, and a shadowy image of a large brown cobra appeared above the altar.
Although blurry, Aier could clearly see the emerald light flickering in the cobra's eyes, a light that was both familiar and foreign to him.
'Natural divine power!? No, it's not pure natural divine power, but rather natural power mixed with venom.'
After observing for a moment, Aier finally saw the true nature of the green light. It was a unique venomous power of Hexis.
"Oh? I recognize you, Wen Nuo Xisi of Gurubashi."
The green eyes of Hexis gradually dimmed. With a chilling "hissing" sound, a pair of golden pupils replaced the original emerald irises.
"How can I, a humble being, be worthy... of you remembering my name."
Wen Nuo Xisi still didn't raise his head, but the trembling tone, clearly laced with a sob, seemed to please Hexis greatly.
"Great Hexis... please accept the tribute offered by your humble servant."
Wen Nuo Xisi said respectfully once more.
"Your loyalty and humility have earned my recognition, Wen Nuo Xisi..."
The golden pupils of the cobra turned very humanly.
After saying these words, all the offerings neatly arranged on the altar soared into the sky and disappeared into a transparent vortex.
'Is that spatial magic? No, it should be a special ability of a Wild God.'
Aier stared intently at the disappearing offerings, pondering silently in his mind.
After receiving the offerings, Hexis seemed to be enjoying himself immensely, the strange "hissing" sound incessant.
After a moment, the cobra stuck out its scarlet tongue, its sharp fangs exposed the moment it opened its mouth.
"Speak, my servant, what do you wish to obtain?"
Feeling the substantial, sinister gaze above his head, Wen Nuo Xisi couldn't help but tremble violently.
'This idiot, if Jema was here, he would never make such a low-level mistake.'
Watching the troll about to expose himself, Aier was anxious, but helpless.
"I... I... I..."
Time seemed to freeze. Wen Nuo Xisi remained prostrate on the ground, shaking like a sieve, unable to utter a complete sentence.
Aier stared intently at Hexis's increasingly impatient expression, constantly calculating his emergency plan.
Just then, Wen Nuo Xisi finally uttered the prepared lines.
"Grea... Great Hexis... I... I have prepared for you... a vessel... that can bear your great power."
