Azeroth Monster Manual
#171 - Window No. 11
Selina retracted her gaze from Mr. Heavy Punch and Martina, casually glanced at her pocket watch, and realized that time seemed to be running short.
Frantically pushing through the dense crowd, the girl, like a lithe female leopard, dashed towards the headquarters of the Light of Elune.
"Huff… Huff…"
The girl, panting heavily, snatched up her pocket watch and took a look.
"Still in time…"
Her slender white hand patted her swelling chest, and the girl adorably stuck out her tongue, before following the flow of people into the magnificent building before her.
The girl was immediately stunned by the sight before her as she stepped into the hall.
A lifelike and majestic statue stood before the entrance. The statue depicted a strikingly handsome elf. The entire statue was made of metal, with a gold and red color scheme, except for the skin tone.
The elf's robes billowed, his hands were outstretched, as if magic was gathering in his palms. He had flowing golden hair, and a faint light flickered in his eyes.
Selina observed closely and discovered that the eye sockets of this almost life-sized statue were inlaid with two azure Elune Stones.
"How extravagant…"
The girl wasn't attracted by the handsome face of the statue. Instead, she felt a pang of regret for the exquisite gems inlaid in the statue's eye sockets.
Selina lowered her gaze and noticed that two passages of text were inscribed on the base of the statue, written in both Common and Thalassian.
"Aier Salona.
Father of the Arcanoweave, the cornerstone of arcane in the new era, leader of the Light of Elune Alliance…
No one else could selflessly contribute their research to those in need. Your actions are worthy of the people's love and the title of Alliance leader.
We hear the call of the arcane in the wind, we hear the frost stirred by the elements echoing in the valleys, and the dancing flames will become the crown above your head. They all call your name, Child of the Arcane, may your martial fortune prosper.
— Antonidas, Archmage of Dalaran"
The girl covered her small mouth in shock and once again examined the vivid and exquisite statue from top to bottom. Compared to the statue's subject, Selina suddenly felt that the two sparkling Elune Stones were so insignificant.
Just as she was immersed in her fantasies, a beautiful melody suddenly echoed through the hall, followed by a childish voice.
"Hello everyone, I am Millhouse Manastorm, a mid-level apprentice of the Aier Brotherhood. Today is the first time in the six months since the Brotherhood was established that we are recruiting peripheral members.
I believe that most of the friends present are here for this purpose. Next, please proceed to window number 11 and line up in an orderly fashion. Finally, I wish you all the best of luck, goodbye."
Little Millhouse breathed a long sigh of relief after reading the last sentence on the manuscript. He wiped the sweat from his forehead and jumped off the high stool with difficulty.
"Haha, how did it feel, my son?"
Olvedo asked excitedly, holding Millhouse's small hand.
"I feel like I'm about to faint, Dad. This is really too difficult. I almost bit my tongue just now."
The little gnome fanned his burning cheeks as he spoke shyly.
… …
As soon as the little gnome's voice fell, the originally calm hall exploded like a pot, instantly becoming a surging sea of people. Shouts, cries, and roars filled the air, and the cacophony almost lifted the roof.
A reckless dwarf rushed towards window number 11 in a flurry, and Selina quickly dodged out of the way.
The surging crowd startled the girl. Like a zombie siege, thousands of applicants rushed towards that small window. Selina stood there dumbfounded, watching the absurd scene before her in disbelief.
Looking at the crowd surging towards window number 11, Selina couldn't help but feel anxious, but her shy personality prevented her from acting as rudely as these adventurers (commoners). She could only wait for the crowd to calm down before slowly approaching.
The girl stood at the entrance, helplessly watching the winding queue. Just as she thought she was the last applicant in line, a naive voice suddenly came from behind her.
"Hello."
Will Heavy Punch scratched his head embarrassedly, while the little girl on his shoulder kept looking around, shouting excitedly. This strange combination appeared before her once again.
"You… you can talk?"
Selina nervously took two steps back and even drew the magic wand from her waist.
Mr. Heavy Punch simply shook his head with a wry smile, without explaining anything.
"Don't be afraid, Daddy is a good person, he won't hurt you."
… …
After some understanding, although Martina and Mr. Heavy Punch did most of the talking, and Selina only responded with simple "uh-huhs" and "ahs", she still understood the origins of this strange pair behind her.
'So they're here to apply too, but this human girl actually calls a tauren "Daddy", how interesting.'
Having obtained the answer she wanted, Selina ignored the two behind her and began to observe everything around her.
The entire hall was extremely vast. Selina roughly estimated that it was surprisingly larger than the Fountain Plaza in Silvermoon City. Even for the wealthy Quel'Thalas, this could be considered a grand gesture.
The hall was divided into three floors, mostly with steel frame structures. Rows of transparent glass served as walls, allowing guests to clearly see the different scenes on each floor.
The style of the entire hall followed the Quel'dorei style, exquisite and elegant. The two base colors of gold and red filled every corner of the hall, giving people a feeling of opulence.
Selina's gaze lingered on the first floor. There was a very interesting phenomenon here. The first floor had a total of 11 windows, each labeled with its name in Common and Thalassian.
Window number one: Kingdom of Azeroth (Stormwind), window number two: Kingdom of Gilneas, window number three: Kingdom of Stromgarde, window number four: Kingdom of Lordaeron, window number five: Kingdom of Kul Tiras, window number six: Kingdom of Alterac, window number seven: Magic City-State of Dalaran.
Window number eight: Dun Morogh (this is more controversial, because Ironforge is the main city of the Bronzebeard dwarves and not the name of a country, just like Stormwind City is the main city of the Kingdom of Azeroth. Here, the author uses Dun Morogh, and there is also a saying that it is called Khaz Modan) Kingdom.
Window number nine: Gnomeregan, window number ten: Quel'Thalas, window number eleven: Aier Brotherhood.
Except for window number 11, which was crowded with people, the other 10 windows had almost no one there. Only a few elves stood outside window number 10 of Quel'Thalas.
The windshields of the 11 windows also thoughtfully had the three bolded words "Office" written in two languages.
The setting of the windows was undoubtedly one of Aier's mischievous tastes, wanting the natives of Azeroth to also taste the embarrassment of difficulty in getting things done that he experienced in his previous life.
