Azeroth Monster Manual

#195 - The End of Hakka

At this moment, within the ruins of the Zul'Gurub altar, the wind howled, piercing shrieks and violent collisions filled the air, and dazzling magical lights intertwined with crimson blood mist.

The battle between Aier and Hakkar had already lasted for several hours. Although the strength of Hakkar's avatar had reached the peak of the Legendary realm, Aier still relied on numerous trump cards and powerful endurance to hold on.

"Boom!"

A Frostfire Bolt roared and struck the behemoth in front of the youth, followed by a series of dazzling, multi-colored spells. These spells contained immense energy and exploded one after another on Hakkar's body.

"Roar! Insignificant insects!"

Hakkar let out a piercing roar. As the roar echoed, the already massive body of this Wind Serpent Loa began to swell, and the originally vibrant red scales burst forth with a blood-red luster.

"Damn it, it's [Berserk]!"

Aier's brow twitched violently. In that instant, he felt an unprecedented sense of crisis.

No sooner said than done, before the youth could react, Hakkar had already transformed into a streak of crimson afterimages and pounced towards the youth. Instantly, the wind howled, and the yellow sand and dust in the ruins began to spread.

"Bang!"

The youth coughed up blood and staggered back two steps. Even though he had managed to block with the Shattered Halberd Barrier in time, the powerful kinetic energy from Hakkar still injured his internal organs, causing capillaries to burst.

That wasn't the end of it. While flying rapidly through the air, Hakkar had already opened his enormous scythe wings and frantically slashed at the giant shield in front of the youth.

Deafening 'bang, bang' sounds echoed incessantly, and the giant shield in front of Aier emitted a grating sound. All of this happened in just a few short seconds, and Aier was being mercilessly manipulated by Hakkar like a human sandbag.

Hakkar swung his scythe wings at lightning speed, and a scarlet luster gleamed at the tips of the wings. The upper half of this Wind Serpent Loa had already transformed into a series of ever-changing crimson phantoms, while Aier could only hide behind the Shattered Halberd Barrier, retreating weakly.

In just a few short seconds, this epic-level barrier had already become overwhelmed. Finally, a 'crack' of grating sound rang out, and the shield that the youth loved so much was cleaved in half, and Aier took advantage of the rebounding force to fly backwards.

"Huff… Huff…"

Not bothering to feel sorry for his equipment, Aier took advantage of this brief moment to catch his breath, wiping the sweat from his forehead. But what he didn't realize was that his already numb hands were now covered in blood.

The fair cheeks were stained with a few comical streaks of blood from the palms of his hands.

The youth stared fixedly at Hakkar, and a faint glow stained his azure eyes. The Mystic Eyes of Death Perception opened silently.

"Weakness, weakness, weakness, all weaknesses, but…"

In the pseudo-bullet time granted by Hyperthymesia, Aier used the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception to discern no less than five major and minor weaknesses on Hakkar's body, but these weaknesses almost made him vomit blood.

"With my current strength, these weaknesses are practically non-existent."

He sighed helplessly. The reason he said this was because the upper limit of Hakkar's avatar had already reached the peak of the Legendary realm, only one step away from crossing the threshold of a demigod.

This also meant that, in order to exploit the weaknesses on Hakkar's body, one must possess the same strength as him, or even higher.

"I've already graduated from Karazhan, why am I still fighting Karazhan?"

Spitting out a mouthful of crimson saliva, Aier muttered the old meme from his previous life under his breath and stopped dwelling on it.

As the pseudo-bullet time ended, Hakkar's body once again transformed into a crimson afterimage and charged towards Aier… …

… …

Lianda and the little maid Lola hid in the canopy of a birch tree, grabbing the bare branches and staring intently at the epic battle between the youth and the 'god'. The two girls seemed to be mesmerized, occasionally letting out loud exclamations.

On the other side, Anasterian and a group of high-ranking officials nervously observed the battle in the ruins.

"Your Majesty, are we really not going to help?"

Salrorean hesitated to speak.

Anasterian turned his head in surprise and asked with a puzzled expression:

"Salrorean, why haven't you left yet?"

"Uh, it's like this, Your Majesty…"

The Marshal's face was rarely a bit embarrassed, and he said intermittently.

But before he could finish speaking, the Sun King interrupted him.

"Doesn't the 100,000-strong army of Aier's Light and the 200,000 troll prisoners need to maintain overall control? Doesn't the military operation to encircle the Stranglethorn Vale with Stromgarde need command? Could it be that your duty as Marshal is just to watch the show here?"

Just like that, Salrorean left in disgrace, not forgetting to look back at the battle in the arena every three steps, even as he was about to leave.

The reason why everyone was able to leisurely watch the show here was because they had received a message from Aier two hours ago.

The first message was to have Salrorean and Kael'thas and Rommath leave here immediately and go to Aier's Light to maintain overall control and actively respond to the upcoming Battle for Arathi.

The more obedient Kael'thas and Rommath had already left, while Salrorean saw the duel between the youth and Hakkar and stayed here out of curiosity.

The second message was to have Anasterian and Auriaya and the other Legendaries not interfere in the battle between him and Hakkar.

At first, they were very puzzled. Could it be that Aier had a sense of chivalry? Did he want to have a fair one-on-one duel with Hakkar?

As the Blood God and Soulflayer, Hakkar naturally possessed many bizarre and powerful spell-like abilities.

Aier also gave them a simple explanation, coupled with the explanations of Belowar and Vondrell, who specialized in illusion and curses, and everyone finally understood Aier's good intentions.

First of all, there was Hakkar's first skill, Life Drain.

This skill could drain most of the enemy's life force in a short period of time, and Life Drain was a group skill, which meant that the more enemies Hakkar had, the more life force he would drain.

Although they didn't understand how Aier was able to be drained of his life force more than a dozen times and still be able to fight Hakkar with vigor, the Legendary combat experience was very rich, and they naturally understood that if they joined the battle, they would probably be drained into dried corpses by Hakkar after a few times.

The most terrifying aspect of this skill was not the draining of life force, but the ability for Hakkar to restore life force, which was Aier's biggest concern.

If Hakkar's avatar became complete, then it would only be a matter of time before Hakkar's main body descended.

Hakkar's second spell-like ability was a skill called Cursed Blood.

This skill was the most troublesome and unsolvable.

Those who were hit would continuously lose health during the duration and spread it to their companions next to them. After the companions were infected, they would continue to infect others, endlessly and endlessly.

The energy level of this disease was Legendary level, and Vondrell, the only one present who could dispel the disease, only had less than Epic level.

The third skill was called Mind Control.

As the name suggests, the Mind Control skill was the same as the priest's Mind Control, and its function was to control a friendly unit.

Because of this skill, Anasterian had specifically calculated that, apart from him and Vondrell and Belowar, Auriaya and Saeldor would definitely be the first targets of Hakkar's Mind Control if they participated in the battle.

If these two Legendary rangers were controlled, the direction of the battle would enter an extremely dangerous situation.

In this way, everyone could only agree to Aier's request and helplessly hid on the periphery of the ruins and became spectators.

"How are the illusions and traps?"

Anasterian suddenly turned his head and looked at Belowar with a worried expression.

Belowar sighed helplessly. This was already the fourth time the Sun King had asked this question, but he could only patiently answer:

"Your Majesty, the traps and illusions are perfect. As long as they don't exceed the Legendary level, there shouldn't be any problems."

"Hmm…"

After hearing Belowar's words, the Sun King's expression seemed to relax a little, so he continued to turn his head and watch the battle in the arena.

… …

Aier spat out blood again and flew backwards, rolling around on the ground a few times before finally struggling to stand up.

Looking at the Phoenix Whirlwind Blade broken into two pieces in his hand, the young man's heart ached so much he almost spat out blood.

“Damn it, it's been so long, why doesn't this big moth feel even a little bit exhausted?”

Wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth, Ayr nimbly dodged Hakkar's sweep, then flashed past in a series of blinks, creating distance.

“Forget it, never mind, if this trick doesn't work, then I'll just lure him into the trap.”

The young man gritted his teeth, threw the broken weapon in his hand on the ground, and took out Aluneth to begin chanting a spell.

Scorching flames swirled around the young man's palm, and feeling the arcane power (arcane divinity) within his body, which had somehow become full again, the young man's heart gradually calmed down.

The orange-red flames gradually turned into a crystal-clear white, and the originally cold temperature in the ruins rose sharply, so much so that even Lianda, who was hiding in the distance, felt the heat.

“Ouch, it's burning me to death.”

Lianda covered her delicate palm, whimpering in pain, while the little maid Laura suppressed her laughter, pretending to be serious.

“Young Miss, let's leave here first, it's too dangerous here.”

The little maid felt the rapidly changing temperature in the arena, put magic shields on Lianda and herself, and said worriedly.

“No!”

“Ah, why?”

“Oh, no means no, let's just move further away.”

Lianda patted the little maid's shoulder in embarrassment and slowly climbed down from the tree.

A young girl's heart is always poetic; no one knows what Lianda is really thinking, not even Laura, who accompanies her day and night, understands why the timid young miss suddenly wants to risk her life to come here.

“My fiancé is a peerless hero…”

Lianda covered her blushing face and murmured to herself.

……

Hakkar, who had been distanced, reacted in less than a second and discovered the young man's direction.

“You think you can escape? Damn maggot, I will kill you, imprison your soul in my body, and torture you day and night!”

In the [Berserk] state, Hakkar's body visibly swelled up by a large circle, and the original scarlet light became even more vivid as the body expanded.

“Whoosh!”

“Whoosh!”

“Whoosh!”

More than a dozen hurricanes rose from the ground and howled towards the young man's direction.

Looking at Ayr, the flames in the young man's palm became increasingly bright, and the surrounding temperature reached an extremely terrifying level. The clothes on his body had long since turned to ashes, and the sand under his feet had melted into a bubbling pool of lava.

The hurricane roared past, the young man's silver hair was raised high, and he was about to be torn into pieces by these violent hurricanes, but his expression was incomparably calm, as if everything in front of him was an illusion.

At the moment the hurricane was about to approach, a pale purple light began to surround the young man's body, and in just a short breath, the Blink spell had been activated, and the young man's figure turned into purple afterimages and disappeared from Hakkar's sight.

In this way, Ayr narrowly avoided the dozens of violent hurricanes, and the magic he was chanting was not interrupted, but became more solid and majestic.

“That is?”

Belovar looked at his grandson's god-like operation with a shocked expression and asked tremblingly.

“Arcane Walk, a super-magic technique that is almost lost. Mages who learn this technique must possess extremely strong control and powerful mental will. I have only seen this magic formula in the Silvermoon Royal Court's library. I didn't expect this kid to learn it silently.”

Anasterian stared at the young man's movements without blinking, his face full of sighs.

What was revealed on the Sun King's face was an undisguised envy, or rather, jealousy. Even with his 2,800 years of long life, he had not been able to learn this difficult and obscure complex knowledge, and this super-magic technique that was almost lost appeared on an 18-year-old boy, how could he not be jealous?

[Arcane Walk], as the name suggests, allows the caster to cast spells while moving. It seems simple, but the words 'almost lost' show its scarcity and preciousness.

Ordinary mages may make mistakes even when standing still to cast spells, thus interrupting the spell. In severe cases, they may even suffer backlash and die in their own violent magic torrents.

However, Arcane Walk allows you to cast spells while running wildly (Blinking). This is no longer a simple difference in levels, it is simply a dimensionality reduction strike.

Just imagine, two mages are dueling, and you are still standing in place to cast spells, but the other person has already run behind you and danced a dance, and then gave you a big fireball, how can you fight this?

……

“Huff… huff…”

Having dodged another powerful chop, Ayr was already panting heavily.

The [Blood of the Fallen] on his body and the constant aura of berserk on Hakkar's body made Ayr's body weak and full of scars.

In addition, the continuous use of Blink to avoid Hakkar's attacks, and the magic brewing in his palm, had already overwhelmed him, and he was relying on the belief in his heart to support him from falling.

Just as Ayr's body was about to give out, the magic in his palm finally took shape.

“Bang…”

The young man laboriously threw the magic in his palm out, and Hakkar, who was flying towards Ayr, seemed to crash into it on his own, using his body to 'catch' this ball of incandescent flame.

Hakkar stopped in surprise. The wind serpent cautiously raised its left wing and suspiciously checked its own condition.

Weak flames burned on Hakkar's body. This flame was very weak, and even the scales or feathers outside Hakkar's body were not ignited.

“This is your magic? So weak? So ridiculous!?”

Hakkar let out a piercing laugh, and the contempt and ridicule in the laughter could be heard even by Lianda and the little maid hiding on the outskirts of the ruins.

“I have to admit, you ant have given me quite a bit of fun, but now you have lost the value you possessed, so, become my flesh and blood, don't resist, it's your honor!”

The wind serpent Loa wriggled on the sand, slowly approaching Ayr, and the young man seemed to have completely lost his resistance, kneeling on the ground with his head lowered, as if he had given up resisting.

“I'm going to save him!”

Lianda stood up anxiously from a pile of ruins, wanting to rush in to save her fiancé without thinking.

“No! Young Miss, you can't go!”

The little maid cried and desperately grabbed Lianda's sleeve to prevent her from moving forward.

The Sun King and his party, who were hiding on the other side, silently watched the changes in the arena. Two legendary rangers were anxious and wanted to speak several times, but they held back.

“Pfft…”

Belovar and Anasterian looked at each other and couldn't help but laugh.

“This brat is pulling this trick again.”

Belovar shook his head and smiled wryly.

……

“Become a part of me and complete this glorious evolution!”

Hakkar moved slowly towards Ayr, and a flattering emotion was revealed on that velociraptor-like face.

“10”

The young man lowered his head and murmured.

“9”

“8”

Hakkar's speed gradually increased. When he came to the young man, he finally heard what the young man was muttering to himself.

“3”

“You bastard, what exactly…”

“1”

Hakkar finally realized that something was wrong, but it was too late. He saw the young man raise his head and give him a slight smile, and then a pale purple light flashed, and the young man had disappeared from his sight.

“Boom!”

A huge explosion sounded loudly, and Hakkar's body was completely ignited at this moment.

Miserable wails and angry curses echoed continuously in the empty ruins. At this moment, Hakkar became a moving torch.

“Seventh Circle Forbidden Spell [Living Bomb]…”

The Sun King's eyes were dull, and he said again and again.
