Azeroth Monster Manual
#66 - Hemet's 'fist diplomacy'
“ Rumble… ”
“ Rumble… ”
The people of Tarren Mill were still immersed in their pre-dawn dreams, but they were awakened by the deafening tremors.
Tarren Mill is one of the fiefs of the Barov family, which belongs to the Kingdom of Alterac. Tarren Mill is also one of the important towns of the Kingdom of Alterac, occupying a very high proportion in the Hillsbrad Foothills.
The garrison officer was a veteran who had participated in the troll eradication campaign. At the age of 50, he still maintained abundant physical strength, and Kima's severed palm was his masterpiece.
“Enemy attack! Sound the alarm! Captain, you are responsible for evacuating the people, there's a big guy coming.”
The garrison officer said solemnly to the adjutant beside him.
The frightened adjutant responded hastily and trotted off to organize the soldiers and evacuate the people.
…
“I don’t know if that bastard Kima has found the Evil Branch tribe. If he delays Master El’s important affairs, Old Hermit will definitely slap his ugly face swollen.”
Hermit sat in the cockpit of the Null Type, fiddling with the complex instruments with nothing to do. Having long been familiar with the structure of the Null Type, he skillfully manipulated this big guy.
“Yawn…”
The old dwarf yawned greatly, complaining while pulling the joystick.
“Master El is really fickle. One moment he asks me to go to Stormwind City with that pretty boy Eilan, and the next moment he asks me to go to Aerie Peak to find those poor relatives.
I don’t have any friendship with that old fossil, Falstad, but the little cub Kurdran did have a fight with Old Hermit. Strange, how does Master El know everything?”
“If you can’t operate the Null Type properly, then hand the control stick to me…”
Kainel sat up from the bed, baring his teeth, the bumpy road making his unhealed wound even worse.
“Impossible, the Null Type is the crystallization of my and Master El’s hard work, don’t even think about taking it from me.”
Hermit sat up straight, gripping the control stick tightly with both hands.
“More boasting…”
Kainel rubbed his throbbing chest and muttered softly, possibly because his voice was too low, the old dwarf didn't hear him.
“Hey, hey, hey… Did you see that? Hermit, ahead, ahead, ah, stop quickly!”
Kainel seemed to have discovered something and exclaimed loudly.
“Where’s the brake, where’s the brake, damn it!”
“Idiot, it’s at your feet, stop quickly, we’re about to crash!”
“Ah!”
…
The two covered their eyes and screamed in unison, and the Null Type also stopped under Hermit's full control.
The garrison officer took two steps back in cold sweat. The big guy in front of him almost trampled a regiment of Alterac troops into meat patties.
“Crack…”
With a crisp metallic collision, the Null Type's huge hatch opened, and the old dwarf and the elf jumped down.
The garrison officer, who was on full alert, breathed a sigh of relief after seeing who it was, but still cautiously raised his standard longsword, held his shield in front of him, and asked loudly.
“Put down your weapons, this is the territory of the Kingdom of Alterac, who are you!”
“Don't be impulsive, have you heard of Amway? Bah, have you heard of the Salorn Alchemical Workshop?”
Kainel stood in the distance, raised his hand, indicating that he was not carrying weapons, and said loudly.
“Of course, who exactly are you!”
The garrison officer had already lowered his guard when he heard Salorn. Over the years, the equipment and potions produced by the Salorn Alchemical Workshop had a good reputation in the various human kingdoms.
And the big guy behind the dwarf and the elf might also be a new product of the Salorn Alchemical Workshop.
Kainel helplessly raised his hands and came to the garrison officer. He took out a work permit from his space backpack and handed it to the garrison officer.
“Salorn… Ar疣 Breeding Farm, although I haven’t heard of it, the steel seal on the certificate is correct, lads, alarm dismissed, confirm they are from the Salorn family.”
The garrison officer raised one hand, clenched his five fingers, and the tense expressions on the faces of the soldiers disappeared, and they all put down their weapons and dispersed on the spot.
…
“Strangers, where are you from, what can I do to help you?”
The garrison officer sat in the office and asked with a gentle expression. It was no wonder he was so polite. The brand effect of Salorn had already spread throughout the Eastern Kingdoms after two years of fermentation and the operation of the Salorn family.
And the entire set of equipment inside the garrison officer's military uniform all came from the Salorn Alchemical Workshop.
“Garrison Officer, we don’t mean to disturb you, we are just passing by and want to ask how to get to the Hinterlands.”
Kainel elegantly picked up the teacup on the table and took a sip, but the rough tea almost made him spit it out in one gulp. The old dwarf was originally sitting aside watching the elf perform, but after seeing this scene, he couldn't help but laugh out loud.
“It seems that our pig-raising expert hasn’t adapted to the current environment yet.”
“Shut up!”
Kainel glared at Hermit, then turned to look apologetically at the garrison officer.
The garrison officer wasn't annoyed, just smiled. He had also seen elves before, and the personality of this elf in front of him could already be considered approachable among his arrogant compatriots.
“The Hinterlands, I do know a small road, but that small road is firmly controlled by the Wildhammer dwarves. Although those dwarves are generous and forthright, they are extremely xenophobic, in short…”
“Please, Garrison Officer.”
Kainel bowed and requested earnestly.
“Ah… Alright, follow me.”
The garrison officer sighed with a complex expression, got up and walked out of the office.
…
“It’s here, a few days ago I chased a troll here. That troll was very cunning. Although I cut off one of his hands, he still escaped our pursuit.
I suspect that he may have escaped to the Hinterlands, the land occupied by that troll. You must also be careful. That troll may have mastered some secrets of our human kingdom. This time he escaped, I always have a bad feeling in my heart…”
The two looked at each other, both revealing a knowing look in their eyes.
…
The “rumbling” sound gradually faded away. The garrison officer instructed the adjutant to come over and handed him the letter that had been prepared.
“Give this letter and my token to His Majesty Perenolde, and tell him everything that has happened in Tarren Mill recently.”
Watching the adjutant ride away on his steed, the garrison officer sighed.
“Truly an eventful autumn…”
…
The Null Type did not take off, but honestly advanced on land.
It wasn't that Hermit had learned a lesson from the "crash" incident, but that El had repeatedly told him before he left not to use the Null Type's flight system unless in a moment of crisis.
Hermit's own power of Khaz'goroth couldn't even be considered weak, it could only charge the Null Type's ordinary actions. Each time he charged it, this strong man, like a Khaz Modan mountain goat, would have to rest for a whole day.
The small road was lined with dense oak and maple trees, and the warm sunlight sprinkled down through the branches and leaves. Occasionally, one or two swift griffons flew across the sky, making loud cries. Such beautiful scenery made even the rough old dwarf become fascinated.
“That flag…”
Kainel carefully observed the map given to them by the garrison officer and compared it with the scene in front of him.
The road gradually widened, and a flag on a towering tree caught his attention.
The flag was white overall, with a golden shield and hammer depicted on the white background, the shield also featuring two lifelike mustaches.
"The Wildhammer flag, old Hemet hasn't seen it in 100 years. Last time we met was in Ironforge. I wonder how that little whelp, Kurdran, is doing."
Hemet smacked his lips, his face full of reminiscence.
Just as the two were chatting, a violent roar came from the Zero's shell.
Hemet quickly checked. A silver-white hammer with lightning was embedded in the Zero's sturdy exoskeleton, and the mithril ingot armor beside it was also cracked, which made the old dwarf's heart ache.
"This is Stormhammer..."
Hemet stood on the Zero's shoulder, gritting his teeth.
"Kur-dran! Get down here!"
The old dwarf roared, looking up.
Meanwhile, in the cloudless sky, Kurdran Wildhammer was about to draw the short-handled warhammer from his waist to give that big guy some trouble when he seemed to hear someone calling his name.
"It must be the wind being too noisy today, making Kurdran hallucinate. Sky'ree, a little faster."
He patted the head of the gryphon he was riding, and the gryphon, named Sky'ree, seemed to understand his words, increasing its speed.
With a crisp cry of "Kree!", Sky'ree made a 360° sideways turn, accelerating towards the Zero.
"That's a good lad. Let that big guy who dares to invade Wildhammer territory see the power of Kurdran and Sky'ree!"
The dwarf whistled excitedly, and the power of lightning surged within him. The originally ordinary hammer became ablaze with sparks.
"Whoosh!"
Stormhammer flew towards the Zero like a meteor.
"Damn it, how dare that little whelp!"
Hemet couldn't bother to continue roaring. His skin turned gray in an instant, his muscles swelled, and his size increased.
"Haah!"
The giant Hemet miraculously caught the lightning-infused Stormhammer in his palm. The massive kinetic energy caused the armor under his feet to shatter inch by inch.
"Eat this!"
The old dwarf started spinning around as if self-taught, and the hammer in his hand became faster and faster.
"Take this back!"
Like throwing a shot put, Hemet abruptly stopped and threw the hammer back.
The lightning on the hammer became somewhat faint, but undeniably, the attached lightning indeed came from Hemet himself, meaning the old dwarf had learned Stormhammer in just a few breaths.
Like a cannonball, Stormhammer flew vertically towards Kurdran and his gryphon.
Kurdran almost dropped the reins in his hand. Stormhammer turned into a blur, with the faint flickering of tiny lightning bolts on the hammerhead.
"How is this possible!?"
Ignoring the question in his mind, Kurdran and Sky'ree flipped to the side in perfect synchronization, narrowly dodging it.
Although they barely dodged, a large portion of Sky'ree's wing was grazed.
The loyal and brave gryphon cried out in sorrow and spiraled downward.
"Sky'ree! Sky'ree! What's wrong? I'm sorry, Sky'ree..."
The dwarf hugged the gryphon's neck, tears streaming down his face. It seemed his relationship with this gryphon was more like friends or family, not just master and mount.
But what he didn't realize was that falling vertically from a height of 1000 meters would mean that even the merciful Holy Light couldn't save him and Sky'ree.
Just as he was in great pain, closing his eyes and waiting for death, he suddenly felt the speed of descent begin to decrease.
Kainel stood on the Zero's head, covered in sweat.
Hemet stood beside the elf, apologetically handing over light feathers.
[Slow Fall] x1
[Slow Fall] x2
[Slow Fall] x3
...
Until Hemet's hand was empty, Kurdran and Sky'ree in the air finally "floated" down as well.
"Hey, Kurdran, you little whelp, you still love to cry so much. Don't drink at the dog's table in the future, and don't throw your broken hammer around."
Hemet taunted, seemingly disgusted, but actually panicked.
Standing in front of him was one of the actual controllers of Aerie Peak. If he really killed him with a hammer, then he would become the culprit who provoked the war between Master Aire and the Wildhammer dwarves. If it reached Falstad's ears, it might even escalate into a "Second Hammer War."
The thought of the Copperbeard brothers' fierce and menacing faces sent chills down the old dwarf's spine.
"You are... So it's you, Hemet, you bastard. You actually dare to come to Wildhammer territory. It seems the old beating from 100 years ago didn't leave you with a deep enough lesson."
Kurdran ignored the moaning Sky'ree under his feet, rolled up his sleeves, spat on the ground at Hemet's feet, and walked towards the old dwarf, cursing.
"If it weren't for that old fossil Falstad stopping me, I would have beaten you, a little whelp who doesn't know how to respect the old and love the young, to death."
Hemet also spat in his palm and walked towards Kurdran.
"You old, self-important, third-rate hunter, eat my fist."
Kurdran used the Wild Flailing Fists.
"Ha, you dare mock my hunting skills, you little dwarf."
Hemet used the Turtle Fists.
"You're only two centimeters taller than me, damn it. Look at your smooth chin, it's a disgrace to us dwarves."
Kurdran used the Baseball Fists.
"Bullshit, my beard is the thickest and most beautiful. Your disgusting beard is full of feathers, it makes me sick."
Hemet used the Seven-Day Golden Lock of Love.
"Let go quickly, you old pervert, Grandpa Kurdran won't fall for that."
Kurdran used the Awei Eighteen Styles.
...
Kainel squatted on the ground, applying ointment to Sky'ree's wings, helplessly watching the two.
...
Half an hour later.
"Hahaha, Hemet, you can actually use the Divine Descent. The power of that hammer almost scared me to death."
"Your Stormhammer is getting more and more skilled. If old Hemet hadn't reacted quickly, he definitely wouldn't have been able to dodge it."
"By the way, where did you get your hairstyle done? How is it so layered? The Wildhammer girls must love it. You're in for a treat, Hemet."
"The feathers on your beard aren't bad either. You truly are a rare handsome man among dwarves. I think the Copperbeard girls will definitely be unable to take their eyes off you when they see you."
Hemet Nesingwary: Hahahaha
Kurdran Wildhammer: Hahahaha
Kainel Sunstrider: Hehe... hehe, how awkward. Is this the commercial flattery that Master Aire talked about?
And so, the two bruised and swollen dwarves walked towards Aerie Peak with their arms around each other's shoulders.
Sky'ree's watery eyes stared innocently at Kainel.
Kainel: So, in the end, I'm still the one who takes on everything?
PS: First post, then edit. A combined chapter is presented. The Dalaran chapter is coming to an end. Next is the Hinterlands Troll War chapter. That's not a spoiler, right? Hahaha
