#72 - Kima: If you don't come pick me up, I'll soon become the boss

The evening breeze rustled through the lush maple forest, scattering red leaves onto the undergrowth.

Hinterlands, this fertile land, shed the delicate veil of high summer, welcoming the colors of early autumn.

Kima, however, had no heart to appreciate such beauty; at this moment, he was hobbling towards his former homeland - Shadra'lor.

He had already taken the spatial backpack from his abdomen and changed into his gladiator's robes, but if one observed closely, one would notice that the troll looked somewhat strange.

“Damn elven bastards! Damn stinking dwarves, damn Hex, you bunch of scoundrels, don't let Kima…

Kima's face was contorted, muttering the same old threats. His previously torn abdomen had already healed thanks to the troll's freakish regenerative talent, but the way he walked still seemed both wretched and pathetic.

As Kima stumbled, a corner of his wide robe was revealed, and the two originally large toes were missing. Both large feet had become a bloody mess, and the stark white bone fragments sent shivers down one's spine under the moonlight.

Kima fell to the ground, struggling for a long time without being able to get up. He could only silently chant a spell, casting a Levitate on himself.

“Huff… Huff…”

He gasped for breath, laboriously turned over in the air, and after a moment of recovery, stood up straight and continued on his way.

The empty left sleeve fluttered in the breeze, and the once sturdy arm was nowhere to be seen.

Kima still had large and small wounds all over his body, especially his gaunt face, which was covered in blood. A large section of his long, pointed ears was missing, his cheekbones were swollen high, the teeth in his mouth had become sparse, and even his only remaining eye had turned blood red.

All the troll's handiwork on Kima came from High Priest Hex. That vile woman had said to him, with a pretense of kindness, that this would make it easier to gain the trust of Warlord Skullsplitter.

Thus, Kima had no choice but to head to his former homeland, Shadra'lor, with a terrifying array of wounds and missing limbs.

Of course, at Kima's strong request, the troll jailer who had once humiliated him was also beheaded. Those startled and terrified pupils were forever frozen on that well-preserved head.

The radiance of Elune gradually dimmed, a sign that An'she, the sun, was about to appear.

Kima dragged his battered body to the outermost perimeter of Shadra'lor.

Surrounded by several Skullsplitter sentries, Kima struggled to utter a few words.

“I have secret intelligence about the Zabra'jin, take me… to… to see…”

With a soft “thump,” Kima staggered and fell to the ground.

When Kima woke up again, he was already in a sturdy wooden cage, and the robes he had been wearing were nowhere to be seen. The Skullsplitter trolls had kindly left him a pair of underpants.

Looking at the newly grown limbs that had somehow recovered, Kima couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.

“Huff… Luckily, they grew out after the Skullsplitter trolls found me, otherwise Kima's efforts would have been in vain…”

Just as Kima was checking his injuries, a faint sound came from afar.

Two green-skinned trolls, wearing two rare iron shackles, approached the wooden cage where Kima was.

The faces of the two green-skinned trolls were covered with disgusting and sticky moss, revealing only their facial features, making it impossible to see their faces clearly.

“This is why I hate those poor relatives. Barbaric culture, crude clothes, and filthy bodies. I even suspect that these Skullsplitter scum have the blood of Rot Hide trolls…”

Although he was inwardly slandering his compatriots, Kima still grabbed the wooden bars and shouted loudly:

“^&&&^#%@$…” (Skullsplitter slang)

The two Skullsplitter guards looked at each other, revealing astonished expressions. A troll with a skull necklace loudly said to Kima:

“^&&&^#%@$!?” (Skullsplitter slang)

Kima: “taz’dingo! taz’dingo!” (Troll language)

The guards warily placed the thick iron shackles on Kima's wrists and ankles, and took him to the residence of Warlord Skullsplitter.

This time, Kima smoothly arrived at the residence of Warlord Skullsplitter, which was a large tent sewn together with various animal furs, and the outer perimeter of the tent was constantly patrolled by several organized troll squads.

Kima stared at the huge flag erected outside the tent. The strange pattern on the flag made his eyes widen.

“Shadra… I've found you.”

“What did you say?”

The two trolls looked at Kima, who was muttering to himself, in confusion.

“I am praying to the great Shadra, so that I, a wanderer who has been separated for many years, can return to the embrace of the Skullsplitter.”

Kima pretended to be pious. Perhaps his acting skills were exquisite enough, the two guards did not suspect him and led him straight in.

“You say you come from Arathi? But I have never seen you in Skullsplitter Village.”

The warlord played with Kima's spatial backpack, and said playfully.

“Yes, respected Warlord, I indeed come from Arathi. More than ten years ago, when I was still a child, the chieftain sent me to the human world to study magic. You certainly haven't seen me.”

Kima knelt on the ground, his eyes shining with sincere light.

“Ha, you cunning rat, do you think I will believe your nonsense? Guards, take him down and let him experience the taste of shrinking heads.”

The two guards at the door rushed into the tent and fiercely pressed Kima down.

“Arcane burst!”

A faint purple light flashed, and the two strong guards were blasted away by the fierce arcane energy.

Just as the guards struggled to get up and rushed towards Kima, Warlord Skullsplitter's words interrupted their actions.

“Is this human magic? Your power has earned you the right to speak to me on equal terms. Troll, what is your name?”

The warlord changed his previous ferocity and irritability, and his tone became gentle.

If Kima's actions had taken place in the human kingdom, it would only have led to a greater crisis, but here among the trolls, it could make the warlord, who had previously regarded him as scum, become polite.

This is because the principle of the strong preying on the weak has been deeply ingrained in the trolls' bones.

Underneath the warlord's wild appearance was a clever and cunning heart. From the moment Kima walked into the tent, he had already been thinking about how to extract more benefits from this troll, such as human magic? And the test just now made him very satisfied.

“Respected Warlord, my name is Kima.”

Kima did not kneel and lick the warlord's boots like he had done with Hex. The test just now made him realize that the man in front of him only believed in the law of the jungle. So, Actor Kima became reserved, and even his words carried the demeanor of a strongman.

And this demeanor happened to be greatly appreciated by the warlord.

“Warrior, please sit down. Tell me, what is your purpose in coming here?”

Although the warlord's tone had softened, Kima could still hear a sense of urgency and ruthlessness. He knew that if he didn't say some "real stuff" next, then his situation would become very dangerous.

“Warlord, more than ten years ago, I infiltrated the human world. Fortunately, I quickly became a slave of an Alterac noble…”

Kima told the pre-prepared lies vividly, and the warlord's expression gradually eased. As for how much he believed, only heaven knew.

Looking at the warlord's expression, Kima swallowed and continued:

“After learning magic from the humans, I escaped, intending to return to Skullsplitter Village to give this knowledge to the chieftain to resist the conquests of those humans from Stromgarde.

But unfortunately, when I was about to return to Skullsplitter Village, a team of elite Zabra'jin headhunters rushed out from the mountains, and when I woke up again, I found myself lying in a dungeon in Sin'theral…”

“Wait, you said that a team of Zabra'jin headhunters rushed out from the mountains west of Skullsplitter Village? Are you sure you didn't see it wrong?”

The warlord's suspicious eyes made Kima break out in a cold sweat.

“Someone! Guards!”

The warlord's shout almost scared Kima, who was sitting on the chair, into falling off.

“Sarth, take the tribe's strongest hunter, and I want you to search the mountains within 100 kilometers to the southeast in three hours. Remember, only three hours, there may be a top-secret trail there, which concerns the fate of our Skullsplitter.”

“Your will, Warlord!”

Kima watched the strong troll walk out of the tent, wiped the cold sweat from his forehead without showing any emotion, unconsciously straightened his body, and silently prayed in his heart:

“Master Elre, I have completed the lies you told me word for word, please don't screw me over.”

“Alright, our conversation can continue. Of course, my most loyal shadow hunter has already searched for the location of that trail according to your clues, we still have three hours.”

The warlord showed a cruel smile on his face, and the intimidation in his words was self-evident.

“Of… of course, Warlord, later I…”

Kima trembled uncontrollably. He knew that when the shadow hunter named Sarth returned, his life would likely be lost.

But as a professional actor, he still told all the lies that Elre had told him.

“Warlord, that spatial backpack.”

Kima, covered in cold sweat, cautiously pointed to the spatial backpack on the table.

The warlord showed a meaningful smile and casually threw the palm-sized spatial backpack to Kima.

Kima rummaged through the backpack for a while, and finally found what he wanted.

He held the head of the Zabra'jin jailer in his palm and respectfully presented it with both hands.

“The head of a Zabra'jin troll? A nice decoration, Kima, I think you should understand that this is not enough to prove your loyalty. Hex, that bitch, wouldn't let such a valuable sacrifice escape.

Or rather, everything you said is just a lie to please the Skullsplitter?”

The warlord's once relatively amiable face turned somewhat狰狞, and the wooden water cup in his hand shattered inch by inch under brute force.

But Kima's acting skills were no longer what they used to be; his unforgettable time in Hinterlands had benefited him greatly.

He repeated his old trick, rubbing a pinch of gray powder from his braids, and in the warlord's astonished gaze, he painfully slashed open his wrist, spraying blood into the water cup he had prepared.

Kima approached the warlord, and under the warlord's suspicious gaze, he sprinkled a tiny bit of the powder into the blood.

The warlord's expression changed from suspicion to blankness in just a few seconds, and the shock on his face was exactly the same as Hex's back then.

"What kind of voodoo is this? It's so terrifying. If this powder were smeared on weapons…"

The warlord didn't avoid Kima's presence and muttered to himself.

"The Evil Branch calls this powder Haka's Fury. It's said to be the latest legendary voodoo developed by that vicious woman, Hex. Those fools made a big mistake. They didn't know I was a mage.

Just as the Evil Branch witch doctor was preparing to experiment with this powder on me, I took advantage of the witch doctor's bowed head and released a powerful spell, successfully killing him and hiding this powder in my hair.

At the cost of one foot and one hand, I successfully escaped from Jintha'Alor…"

Kima vividly recounted his experience, occasionally releasing a scorching flame in his palm to increase the credibility of his lies.

The warlord listened to Kima's story, but his gaze was somewhat erratic, occasionally looking at Kima's hair.

Seeing that the warlord was unmoved, Kima decided to add another log to the fire.

"Warlord, during my time in the dungeon, I gleaned important information from those pathetic prisoners…"

"Tell me about it."

Hearing about important information, the warlord's expression became serious.

"I heard from an Evil Branch troll… that's right, those insane Evil Branch trolls don't even spare their own people… Warlord, has the Revantusk tribe been experiencing unexplained disappearances of civilians and women recently?"

After Kima finished speaking, he stared unblinkingly at the warlord's expression, and the warlord's eyebrows furrowed as he had hoped.

"Are you saying… the Evil Branch trolls are abducting my people?"

The warlord suppressed his anger and said in a cold voice.

"That's right. Those damned Evil Branch trolls not only abducted our people, but they also treat the Grimtotem Village by the eastern coast as their sheepfold.

Those Grimtotem trolls are like two-legged sheep, allowing them to take whatever they want. And the only purpose of doing this is that the Evil Branch trolls want to sacrifice all the trolls in Hinterlands to their loa god…"

"Nonsense! You liar full of lies! Shirvallah, the Wild God of the Panther, is not as greedy as you say!"

As if unwilling to believe it, the warlord angrily slapped the table and cursed, pointing at Kima's nose.

"Warlord, please calm down. I didn't say that the object of their live sacrifice is Shirvallah. That vicious and arrogant woman, Hex, has completely gone mad.

She has long since changed her allegiance and become a betrayer. Now, for the sake of powerful strength and eternal youth, she has turned to Haka, that evil and cruel blood god!"

"Clang."

The spear in the warlord's hand fell to the ground, his face filled with fear and bewilderment.

"Haka… impossible, it can't be Haka… He already… You're lying, you must be lying!"

Just as the warlord was murmuring unconsciously, a loud voice came from outside the door.

"Warlord, may I come in?"

Sass's voice awakened the warlord, who now seemed to see a life-saving straw. He hurriedly stood up and walked outside the tent, personally pulling the shadow hunter in.

"Sass, is there a result? Does that trail not exist at all? Tell me, expose this liar full of lies. I want to make this liar's head into the most exquisite collectible and hang it around my neck…"

The shadow hunter seemed to realize the warlord's panic and fear. The warlord's brute force pinched his sturdy arm painfully, but he still said hesitantly:

"My brothers discovered the secret passage mentioned by this… this warrior in a mountain depression about 36 kilometers southeast of Shadra'Alor. After investigation, we found that the trail… leads directly to an excellent hiding place outside Revantusk Village."

"Impossible… impossible."

The warlord seemed to have all his strength drained at once, collapsing to the ground without regard for his image, and no matter how the shadow hunter pulled, he couldn't help him up.

"Still a bit short…"

Kima's eyes darted around, and he decided to add the last straw that broke the camel's back to the warlord.

So he lowered his voice and said with an emotion mixed with fear and sadness:

"They not only capture our people, but even the dwarves of Eagle's Nest Mountain and the elves of Quel'Danil are not spared. People are sacrificed alive in that dungeon every day, but the cells are never empty.

An Evil Branch prisoner told me that Hex's goal is to sacrifice all the humanoids in Hinterlands to Haka so that Haka can become even more powerful.

When Haka's avatar is strong enough, she will summon the avatar of Shirvallah, the Wild God of the Panther, and then let the evil god Haka devour Shirvallah's avatar in order to achieve the ambition of Haka's main body returning to the material world.

And this blood-coagulating voodoo is Haka's secret weapon given to Hex. As long as they launch a war against us and the dwarves, our fate will become extremely miserable.

And we cannot resist the Evil Branch trolls who possess blood-coagulating voodoo. Warlord, imagine that with the deaths of our people and the dwarves, the souls of these dead will become a gluttonous feast for Haka…

Think about it, who is Haka's next target with even greater power…"

Kima spoke until his mouth was dry. Of course, these words were also taught to him by the elven youth. As for Hex's lies, who cares?

Kima suddenly became excited. At this moment, he finally realized the pleasure of manipulating others in the palm of his hand. What's more, the double agent he was playing with was not just a few people, but two tribes with hundreds of thousands of people combined.

"Shirvallah… Shadra… and the even more powerful Haka, you will all become toys in Grandpa Kima's hands, hahahaha…"

Not to mention Kima's self-indulgence, the Revantusk warlord was already on the verge of collapse.

"Shadra… their next target must be Shadra'Alor. No, I'm going to find the high priest."

The warlord climbed up in embarrassment, rushing out of the tent regardless, leaving only the shadow hunter and Kima, who was savoring the moment, staring at each other.

Three days later.

The warlord had long since regained his initial composure and majesty, but Kima could still clearly feel the unease and bewilderment revealed in those originally cruel eyes.

"Warrior, come forward!"

Surrounded by many Revantusk trolls, Kima calmly came to the warlord and knelt on one knee.

"In view of your contribution and loyalty to the Revantusk tribe, I will reward you. The tribe's high witch doctor is old and frail and can no longer withstand the tribe's high-intensity work. I think you can take on this position, and please don't refuse…"

Kima: If I remember correctly, the high witch doctor is already the third-in-command of the tribe, right? If I work hard for another two years, Grandpa Kima might be able to sit on the warlord's throne?

Yeah right, Master A'el, when are you coming to save me? If you don't come, I'll become the boss!

Just as Kima was enjoying the tension and excitement of being a double agent, the ten-day period in Dalaran was also approaching…

PS: A'el's plan and the following plot are basically laid out, and next is to complete the Dalaran hegemony competition plot.

Also, let me nag a few words to those who read quickly, so as not to be sprayed by the author for no reason. (Not once or twice)

I have to say that Kima is alive. A'el's initial task for him was to return to the Revantusk tribe and gain the leader's trust in order to facilitate A'el's next purpose.

But coincidentally, Kima obtained information that the Evil Branch was plundering the population and summoning the blood god, so he took the initiative to sneak into the Evil Branch tribe and report the situation to A'el.

The drama came. Although Kima gained Hex's trust, he also became a double agent, ordered by the high priestess to take her lies and the heads of the jailers to Revantusk and gain the trust of the Revantusk warlord.

So the bitter Kima told A'el this information again, and A'el made a plan, let Kima gain the trust of the warlord, tell the warlord his prepared lies, let the two tribes fight each other, and he would benefit from it.

The most interesting thing came. A'el only speculated based on his memories of his previous life that Hex believed in Haka, and Hex didn't tell Kima her plan.

But Kima just said it, and the key is that the compilation is all right, accidentally told the warlord Hex's overall plan in a form that he thought was a lie.

Friends who understand can just swipe away. These nagging words are written to those who read quickly.
