186. A Vacation

Bo Yu squints at Song Shilin, ‘Don’t do that in front of others!’ He roars inwardly.

Ignoring Bo Yu’s silent censure, Song Shilin lifts his chin towards his boyfriend. He says composedly, “Have you finished? Mom has prepared soup for you.”

Hearing that, a journalist asks hastily, “Mr. Song, you mean your mother has accepted Bo Yu, right? You’ve met each other’s parents? Is that true?”

“Bo Yu has a child. Will you treat Little Watermelon as your own child? A step-father might… Mmm, will you treat him as your own son?”

Bo Yu throws a glimpse at the two journalists who raised questions at the very beginning. He considers, ‘That’s his biological son. He’s not a step-father. Jesus.’

Song Shilin looks around the crowd, speaking indifferently, “Yes.” He doesn’t threaten them.

“We’re in a relationship. I’ve read those comments online. I really appreciate your concern. Thank you for your love.” Bo Yu speaks in an official tone. He doesn’t have to deliver a harangue. A journalist can compile a report of a thousand characters according to a few key words.

“Well, may I ask…”

Frowning, Song Shilin gesticulates.

The bodyguards switch to another formation. They block those mad paparazzi, helping Song Shilin and Bo Yu leave. The two head towards a car.

Bo Yu’s assistant peers at Bo Yu with expectancy. She widens her eyes. As they are close, she swiftly opens the door for them. The driver is ready to step on the gas.

However, Bo Yu doesn’t get in his car.

He climbs into Song Shilin’s car which speeds away before others.

His assistant and driver become mute.

Relaxing his body, Bo Yu snuggles up to Song Shilin. He starts playing games on his phone. However, he loses his interest after a few minutes and puts his phone away. “Have you bought the tickets? I wanna leave these days. I need a break. Work almost wears me out.” The man fingers Song Shilin’s hands.

A sound-absorbing glass rises to separate the front seats and the back seats.

Noticing that, Bo Yu raises his head with a tacit smile.

Song Shilin lowers his head to kiss Bo Yu. He doesn’t leave Bo Yu’s lips until they are gasping. Song Shilin rubs his boyfriend’s glistening mouth, “I have to stay here. Our company has undertaken some big projects, so I can’t leave.”

“Okay. Then, I’ll take Little Watermelon with me and you should take care of Little Candy.” Bo Yu responds instantly, “Little Candy’s too young to travel. I’m afraid he’ll be under the weather during the trip. You happen to be at home, so you can look after him.”

Hearing that, Song Shilin doesn’t find any disappointment from Bo Yu’s eyes. ‘I can’t accompany him, but it seems that he’s fine with that.’ Song Shilin lowers his head to nibble Bo Yu’s lips. The man asks gloomily, “Is it fun to travel alone?”

“I’m not alone. Little Watermelon is with me.” Bo Yu turns around and buries his head in Song Shilin’s arms. Sniffing his lover, he asks, “Have you changed your perfume?”

“Nope.” Song Shilin has never applied any perfume, “I changed my body wash.”

They used different shower gels before.

Bo Yu rubs his nose awkwardly. ‘I thought he secretly applied my perfume, otherwise I won’t smell a familiar scent. It turns out that he changed the cream. That’s too embarrassing!’ Bellows him inwardly.

‘Wait!’

Narrowing his eyes, Bo Yu throws Song Shilin a suspicious look, “Have you taken a shower before you came here? If not, I won’t smell the shower gel.”

Song Shilin’s eyes show an ardent look, but Bo Yu doesn’t notice that. The bashful man covers his lover’s eyes, “Take a nap. We’ll be home soon.”

Bo Yu deliberately removes Song Shilin’s hands from his eyes, speaking seriously, “Say it out. Have you taken a shower? You’re shrewd!”

“Yeah.” Bo Yu asks again, so Song Shilin answers in a low voice. Then the latter gives his lover a peck on the lips before Bo Yu could respond. “Did you stay up late last night?” Asks Song Shilin softly.

He distracts Bo Yu who nods with face wrinkled, “We stayed up all night acting. I only took a one-hour nap. I was knackered.”

Song Shilin chuckles but says nothing. He presses Bo Yu’s head against his chest, speaking gently, “Just take a break if you’re exhausted. I will wake you up when we arrive home.”

Nodding sleepily, Bo Yu puts his hands around Song Shilin’s waist. He is about to fall asleep, “Oh, we should pick up Little Watermelon. Remember to call Yan and ask him to wait for us at home.”

Song Shilin nods voicelessly.

Silence descends in the car. Bo Yu snores in a minute.

Song Shilin slowly and softly pats Bo Yu’s back, soothing his lover.

Bo Yu wakes up after an hour as someone is tickling his nose. The man opens his eyes in a daze. Little Watermelon’s smiling face pops up before him. Dumbfounded, Bo Yu comes to his senses. He rubs his chest to soothe his terrified heart, “Why did you kiss me? I was sleeping.”

Leaning against the back seat, Song Shilin remains mute. He is under Bo Yu whom Little Watermelon is above. The three are in the back seats and it’s very crowded.

The child pouts, “Father didn’t allow me to wake you up, so I kissed you, daddy.”

‘Well, that’s your father’s duty to wake me up by a kiss.’ Bo Yu raises his eyebrow.

He glances at Song Shilin, but only sees a gloomy face. Besides, a trace of helplessness emerges in Song Shilin’s eyes.

Little Watermelon clings tightly to Bo Yu. He giggles, “Daddy, when will we start our trip? Is Little Candy with us? I love beach and sea!”

“You spent a whole year at the seaside. Haven’t you gotten sick of it?” Hearing that, Bo Yu stops yawning. He asks helplessly, “Jesus. Why are you so obsessed with the ocean?”

“Because I can make sand castles with you and father. I won’t give up until I build one. Daddy, where are we going this time?” Little Watermelon is thrilled after realizing that he’ll be on a trip with Bo Yu. He keeps asking with eyes sparkling.

Noticing that the child is delighted, Bo Yu grins. “Silly boy, we’re not going to the beach.”

The kid’s smile ebbs away. He pouts, asking in an injured tone, “Why? Daddy, you haven’t made a sand castle with me.”

Bo Yu pats his head, “I built a dozen castles for you last year, remember? How can you forget them?”

“No!” Hearing that, Little Watermelon goes furious. He points at Bo Yu, scolding in a huff, “You didn’t know how to build a castle! Daddy, you always ruined my works.”

Bo Yu stares at the kid impassively. ‘He’s spoiled. How dare he talk back to me?’ However, the man remains mute. He remembers that he accidently destroyed Little Watermelon’s sand castles every time they were half-finished.

Seeing that, Song Shilin chokes on a snort of laughter. Bo Yu’s not very kind to Little Watermelon, but the boy clings to him. Every time the child is given the cold shoulder, he will retain that obsessiveness.

What was more, the kid didn’t leave Bo Yu any personal space when the man was pregnant last year. Little Watermelon followed Bo Yu everywhere.

At that time, Song Shilin considered that Little Watermelon was afraid that Bo Yu would abandon him after having another baby. However, it’s the boy that loves Little Candy most after Bo Yu gave birth to his brother. Song Shilin is confused.

Bo Yu never obeys rules while Little Watermelon always puts others in a spin. There’s a saying, “Children always resemble their parents”.

Song Shilin’s mind drifts while a finger emerges from nowhere, “What are you doing?”

Bo Yu withdraws his finger, “I thought you were haunted. Why didn’t you answer the question?”

“Sorry, I didn’t hear that. Could you ask me again?” Song Shilin replies gently. He starts to get softened when Little Watermelon stares at him with eyes blinking. The dashing man holds the child up, asking, “What’s wrong?”

“Will you come with us?” The little boy raises his head to gaze at Song Shilin. His eyes are full of pity and disappointment, “I’ll miss you, father. Daddy will also miss you.”

Bo Yu puts his hands behind his head, speaking slowly, “He’s busy working. I believe he will come with us next time. Son, can you leave him alone?”

Little Watermelon rejects the man, “I will say no. We’re a family. If Little Candy and father don’t come with us, I…”

“You don’t wanna go? Okay. Stay at home to accompany your brother and father. I can travel by myself.” Bo Yu teases. He bursts out laughing when the kid widens his eyes dumbfoundedly.

Little Watermelon leaves Song Shilin and lunges at Bo Yu. He doesn’t kiss Bo Yu, but says to Bo Yu with a cute look, “Daddy, you’re so bad. I don’t wanna stay with father. I will go with you!”

Bo Yu throws a glimpse at Song Shilin who is impassive, considering that a poker face is not that bad under such circumstances, “All right. Kiss me, or I won’t take you with me.”

Little Watermelon pretends to be reluctant, but gives Bo Yu’s cheek a few kisses. The boy’s eyes become crescent moon-like when he giggles.

Bo Yu is amused by his son. His shoulders are shaking when he is laughing.

Song Shilin looks outside the window apathetically when he is left aside.
