Cardboard Houses Do Not Tear
Chapter 33
33 – Dinner and an Uninvited Guest
Dinner was served fairly early.
A bowl of stew eaten while sitting around a bonfire in a dark corner of the village contained magical powers that made everyone friendly towards the end of the meal.
“Mr. G-House, you’re good at cooking, unlike how you look?”
Lily said that, and other people’s comments followed.
But I didn’t make that. The prianian squad leader cooked it all up.
“Thank you for the delicious meal.”
Still, she bowed her head and said thanks.
Because I peeled the potatoes and onions I just put in the stew.
“I’m glad you liked the dinner we served you.”
Come to think of it, it’s true that the two of us really served.
So, as the person responsible for putting a spoon in the process of making this amazing stew, I’m willing to try my hand at pretending to be a chef.
“Would you like some more?”
“Oh my God. Thank you!”
“Say something.”
This is more fun than I thought.
***
“Keep.”
“Dirty bastard, there’s also Captain Prianian, but he’s burping.”
So, just as all six of them were filling their stomachs and kicking out the chill, Blender, who had been pounding his stomach after burping, opened his mouth.
“Oh, G-House?”
“Yes?”
“Sten said he saved Betty from being beaten by the goblins over there.”
The gratitude in his eyes was faint. Just like what Sten showed me earlier.
“Thank you.”
Why is this strange?
People who may or may not be enemies.
“Since you were closest to me, it’s only natural.”
“I heard that he jumped at the goblin even with his bare hands, and killed him in an instant? Usually don’t do that That one is great.”
Blander painted the man’s face with gold, and Perun’s and Lily’s eyes turned to mine.
Then Sten said in frustration.
“No, that. You said you caught it with bread. Did you forget right away?”
“Huh? Bread?”
The eyes of the adventurers who heard that changed as if they were looking at me like a madman.
“What do you mean, Sten? G-House saved Betty and killed the goblin with bread?”
Asked Lily, who was quietly clasping her hands with Perun’s.
“That. As for what happened.”
Sten couldn’t tell the story of last night in a long, dirty way.
That’s why.
By the end of his story, I had become a monster from them who suddenly attacked Betty with bread, muttered something incomprehensible, and struck the goblin’s head five times.
For reference, that’s what I’ve organized as best I can.
Let’s just know that the original version was so low that the leader of the prianian squad asked, ‘Would you like to drink and talk?’
Lilly, who had heard the whole story, who was at least able to tell for certain that his hidden talents did not include speech, uttered only one word.
“…No, how do you kill a goblin with bread?”
“That. He even blew his head off with a bottle of alcohol. Come on, what is that drink-“
The moment Sten took out a bottle from his waist while explaining further,
“Now that I don’t have to testify, I don’t think I will have anything to drink. Sten.”
The leader of the prianian squad said something. In those cold eyes, I felt a warning not to pull it out.
As he glumly put the bottle back in, Lily asked Perun, who was stroking his hand next to him.
“Perun, do you think it would be possible?”
“No.”
“What, can’t you?”
Lily’s face went sullen, and Perun immediately spat out a line that seemed to be hasty.
“But at least I have the confidence to do it with my bare hands if someone touches you.”
‘f*ck.’
I endured the nausea that almost came out in an instant.
I can assure you that even if it wasn’t me, there wouldn’t be a man who would look normal while watching a boy talk like that and even make his eyes feel greasy.
“As expected, there is only Perun!”
But judging from Lily’s reaction, it seems to work surprisingly well.
I heard somewhere that the smell of chestnut flowers gives men a sense of repulsion and women feel fragrant.
Those f*cking deep eyes felt like chestnut flowers to me.
But I wonder if that scene felt the same to other men besides me.
Dirty jugglers. Will people with cold sides live in sorrow?
“Damn it. You came to get dinner and then you go to see how other people are dating.”
Blender grumbled, and Sten, wordlessly again, scraped the bottom of her pot with the ladle to scoop out the ingredients.
I could see the burning desire in his eyes, and then the desire came out of his mouth.
“Hey. That, if you have a drink here-“
“Don’t even dream.”
The prianian squad leader warned again.
I felt something strange about the sudden dejected hand movements and called Sten.
“Sten.”
From noble mtl dot com
Then he asked with admiration.
“Why but? Wanna have a drink?”
I bent my wrist slightly, pointed the head of the spoon I was holding towards me, and pointed at him who stopped his hand.
“Put meat in moderation.”
I haven’t eaten yet either.
“Ha.”
He kindly put his ladle back in, and Lily asked me again.
“Mr. G-House. How did you beat the goblin with that soft bread?”
‘The bread was soft?’
“The bread was hard. It was to the extent that I was told to warm it up.”
Then Blender looked at me strangely.
“Betty’s bread was hard? It’s strange.”
“Yes?”
“My bread was soft.”
That day at the campfire, Sten murmured as he was the only one who ate the bread Betty gave out.
“Mr. G-House. Is it true that the bread Betty gave you was really hard?”
Lily, who had put the stew bowl down beside me and licked her lips, looked at me and asked.
I was taken aback by their expressions as if they were denied common sense.
‘No, isn’t it common sense that bread that has been baked for several hours is hard?’
“Yes.”
“It is strange. The bread Betty makes can’t be like that.”
“My bread must have been weird.”
“Well, even though Betty makes amazing bread, she is still a person. But it’s interesting.”
But the reaction of the adventurers was a little different from what I knew.
Is Betty’s bread the same as the mythical nectar for them?
“Is there anything different about Betty’s bread?”
“It stays moist for at least three days. But three days have not passed yet.”
Lily said it naturally.
“The taste is average, but should I say it’s soft enough to wipe your face with? I still can’t understand why she makes her bread so well.”
Sten nodded as if he agreed with her words.
“Among us, he is the best at archery, so he’s good as a guide, and he’s good at making bait and bread. If you drop by an inn, you’re the girl who rents the stove first.”
Perun also quietly helped.
“He is an indispensable talent in our party. But why do you ask?”
At his question, Blender looked at me and asked.
“Doesn’t he have feelings for Betty?”
Suddenly?
“Yes? Do you mind if I ask you something about why you are suddenly driving that way?”
“Is it a Far Eastern question? You say it strangely.”
“That sounds interesting.”
The prianian squad leader spoke in a cold voice.
“Mr. Betty and Mr. G-House.”
To the extent that it somehow sends chills down your spine.
As if Blender had noticed the tense atmosphere, he laughed and made excuses.
“Just kidding, kidding. That lady already has an owner, so don’t worry about it. As for who the owner is-“
“I see.”
I said that and turned his head away, and he asked again.
“Oh, are you not asking?”
“There is no reason for me to ask. Now, shall we return to our topic for a moment?”
He was someone who had no interest anyway. Whoever the owner was, it didn’t matter to me.
***
“So that’s it. As I evaded the goblin’s spear and rode my horse quickly, the merchant friend who was riding on my back grabbed me by the chest, like hugging a teddy bear, and said,
“What did you say?”
Blander jumped up and stretched out his two hands to wrap around an imaginary object.
“‘I don’t know what I did wrong, but I did it first, so go slowly!'”
“Puhahahaha!!”
After Lily and Perun disappeared, four remained in front of the fire.
“By the way, why aren’t those two guys coming?”
After completing the demonstration of ‘traveling through 50 or so goblins in a short period of time’, Blender sat down again and asked.
“Damn it. All the dirt is splashing. I haven’t eaten yet.”
Sten scolded him by covering the top of his bowl.
Then she added a word.
“I’m sure you two are having a good time. Dude.”
“How cool.”
Before Stew was done dozing off, he set the pot on the ground to cool slowly on the cold soil, but Mark and Betty did not return.
It’s strange. According to Sten, he decided to come here after his shift.
‘Well, it’s like going on a real date.’
It was thanks to him that he wasn’t mentally ill to the point of being suspicious of someone else’s tryst.
So I asked Sten about Mark.
“By the way, is Mark the leader of the party?”
He shook his head a couple of times before answering.
“Yes. I used to be the leader, but after Betty brought Mark in a few months ago, he became the leader. Hmm.”
I didn’t see any jealousy in Sten’s eyes when he said that.
It seems that it was not simply pushed down by force.
“Why, did you even look like he was the leader? He must have never seen him before.”
“Well, to put it that way, you and I haven’t seen Sten a few times, have you?”
He smiled broadly at my answer, then didn’t say anything for a while.
“…Mark is very good. He is cool, moderate, and gentle.”
“It’s strange that all three modifiers that can’t be attached together are attached.”
Like a mint chocolate pineapple smoothie.
Suddenly, while working at a store, I remembered a strange joke that my friend encouraged me to try.
‘It was really f*cking taste that I’ll never do again.’
Ah!!! My tongue is dry, but my nose is wide open, and the slightly greasy aftertaste of chocolate is all at once. That thrilling memory of a cup!
As she tried to get the horrible feeling out of her head, Sten spoke up.
“Ah, G-House. And I have something to tell you.”
“Yes?”
His expression became serious.
“Well, never ask why the costume is the way it is in front of him.”
“…Why?”
“At least no one laughed at his appearance and didn’t fight, foe or ally.”
Taking the advice of Sten, who didn’t stutter, he thought about his outfit again.
Come to think of it, Mark’s outfit was pretty bizarre.
The former Sara was wearing a robe that was unusually long and didn’t fit her hand, covering all of her hands.
What a crazy combination.
“Okay.”
After today, he will be someone you won’t need to see anymore.
So I nodded, and Sten went back to normal.
“Sure.”
After he finished his sentence in a heavy voice, he tried to rummage through the stew again, but was hit on the back of the hand by a blender.
“No, let’s have another bite!”
“Is it only your mouth? Mark and Betty haven’t even had a bite yet.”
I got up from my seat.
I wanted to see more of their bickering, but now I suddenly have something to do.
The attention of the three people who heard the rustle was focused.
“Uh. Where are you going?”
“A bathroom.”
With those words, I left the place for a while.
This is a rather serious matter.
“After.”
Jerobeok, jeobeok.
Tung.
“Huh?”
After finishing my errands, I was walking back to the bonfire when I heard the sound of a bow string being strung somewhere.
I stopped for a moment and looked around.
After a while,
Tung.
The sound of bouncing was heard once more, mixed with the sound of insects.
The sound of the string being pulled came from the wooden fence, and it was slightly more cheerful than a normal longbow.
‘Is it a shortbow? Or a low-tension bow?’
‘Are the vigilantes practicing?’
Even in a town like this, there are vigilantes, so there was no reason not to hear the sound of an arrow or metal.
And since vigilantes usually use shortbows, there was no reason not to make a rather cheerful bow sound.
However, there was a slight delay, and it was that the day was starting to get dark, making it inappropriate as a time to practice archery.
Of course, it’s not like I haven’t practiced archery at night either, but at least that was the story when I was f*cking rolled by Huar’an.
This isn’t a demonic scene where something pops up all the time, and the vigilantes aren’t all ex-war mercenaries, so what’s the point of practicing bowing at night?
For some reason, I felt anxious and wanted to go, but I turned around again.
Right now, escorting around the prianian squad leader was more important than curiosity.
And.
It’s a monster!!
“f*ck.”
The anxiety I felt came to us mixed with someone’s shouting.
An uninvited guest came.
