Chapter 28 - Heaven for Cultivation

Dealing with the Ironhand Empire was not a simple task, and even though Queen Leiss had agreed to it she was racking her brain on how to proceed. It was then that Chief Saito pulled her aside and whispered into her ear. Hearing what he had to say, she tightened her grip on the unassuming bone slip in her hand and broke into a wide grin. As if a sunshine after the rain she urged the whole regiment to proceed at a quicker pace and leave for their ship. Her enthusiasm even shocked Captain Jack. She did not look like someone who had just agreed to be a borrowed knife for a small clan. Of course, everyone was aware of her enmity with the Ironhands. Even without being prompted to do it she was always going to deal with that eyesore. After all, she had time on her side,, being young whereas Ironhand was in his prime, she could only grow stronger whilst he lost vitality. Ironhand only had one wastrel of a son and the crown price did not even cultivate his father's technique and spent his days frol.i.c.k.i.n.g with women and wine. Even so, the king loved him dearly, and this was because of a secret that Queen Leiss knew of. Because of the demonic nature of the blood techniques of Ironhand, a certain level of achievement in it would cut of all fertility. As the only son he had before he could never have children ever again, of course he would spoil him. But this also meant that succession in the empire was up in the air. Ironhand however had lots of lifespan left to spare by mortal standards, he could still live 80 to 100 more year, plenty of time to whip his son into shape, at least this was his logic.

Queen Leiss got into her carriage and Chief Saito waved them off as her procession set off towards the ocean from the Nyasanga Clan. They continued to encounter totems at regular intervals along the way that repelled wild beasts from the pathway. the return trip was much smoother than when they first arrived. Meanwhile in the Nyasanga Clan, Chief Saito returned to the hall and reported on the departure of the Leiss regiment. Philip simply nodded and stood up from his seat. All the elders followed suit and stood up, with Philip slowly strolling out of the hall to the central courtyard. "Is it ready?" he asked as he observed the runes and patterns on the floor in detail whilst strolling around. "The miners will be finished shortly with the final touches, Young Master." Chief Saito humbly replied. "Good, good." Philip said, but it seemed more about the formation array than the report. "Once everything is ready gather the whole clan here, I'll be inspecting everything personally meanwhile. " With that Philip left after-images as he quickly vanished passed the clan entrance. "I really cant get used to that." Chief Saito chuckled. Even with his increased cultivation he could barely keep up with his son's movements. And this was not even his top speed. If he really left in a rush it would appear like he completely vanished. It had already happened several times where he would say something then just disappear altogether. "Very nice, very nice." just as Chief Saito was lost in his thoughts Philip appeared once again as a series of after images. Chief Saito couldn't help but gasp. The formation array that they had laid down covered the entirety of world's edge mountain. It was no exaggeration to call it immensely expansive, with the whole clan working together to lay it down. The clan members were all at least third step cultivators, working day and night in all corners of the mountain, and yet Philip had just casually traversed the whole mountain checking on the totems and cave tunnels that supplied the formation with power in just a few breaths of time. ' Just how fast is this kid?' this thought went through Chief Saito's mind. "Welcome back young master, is everything in order?" he said. At this point nothing was much of a shock when it came to this boy and he consoled himself that Gods were indeed different. "Oh yeah, impressed you didn't make too many mistakes. I'll be in my cave then." Philip said before vanishing and appearing almost instantly in his cavern. Chief Saito was left dumbfounded yet again by how casual a supposed God was about everything.

He was indeed rather impressed by the work the clansmen had done. He had prepared very detailed instructions so there was no room for much error in the first place, but i was still human hands after all. The formation set up around world's edge mountain was was larger organisations would call a sect protecting formation. It was what immortal cultivation sects would put in place to protect their base of operations from enemies and non sect members straying onto their mountains. Not just any mountain would qualify for such a formation to be placed down, and a spirit vein was the base most necessary requirement. Once the vein was found and the size determined, smaller intricate formations would be placed around the mountain. These many formations would then combine and interact, powered by the spirit vain to achieve a grand effect, aptly named the Grand Formation. The grand formation would have several effects, chasing away the wild beats in the mountain, an illusion effect to hide the headquarters, space warping effect to redirect outsiders approaching on foot, and of course attacking formations in case of a war. All of these numerous functions were all controlled centrally by the sect leader, usually using the sect leaders token for authorisation. But most importantly a grand formation established the sect shields, and a qi gathering formation. These two things would combine to make the mountain a true heaven for cultivation, an environment suitable for immortals. Philip had promised to raise the Nyasanga Clan and this was the very first step in a long journey towards achieving just that. Philip stepped into the pool of spiritual water and leaned back on the edge of the pool. "Good times." he said, before starting to meditate quietly.
