Chronicles Of Arth: Prince Of Shadows

Chapter 223 - start of the Second task

Arth recovered about thirty minutes later and when he woke up, he was completely clear of scars. However, he was not clear of visitors.

"GRYFFINDOR! GRYFFINDOR!"

"ARTH! YOU ARE ALIVE!"

"KEK!"

"Er, Scarlett. I think you are choking Arth-"

"Oh- sorry."

"Ooh! I thought that it was him and Luna who were dating?"

"Idiot! Shhhh. They haven't progressed that far yet."

"What? But I thought-"

"Shhhh!"

"GRYFFINDOR!"

"Haha, Arth managed to survive a dragon, yet somehow almost dies to a girl."

Arth felt as though he had heard something ridiculous but chose to ignore it. Instead, he narrowed his eyes at Scarlett and gave her a nasty look.

"Are you sure you aren't of the constrictor family?"

Scarlett tilted her head in confusion.

"But I am of the Constrictor family?"

Arth sighed.

Well that explains why Scarlett was so touchy with him. And why she liked to curl around his arm.

Arth yawned and stretched out his arms before taking a look around.

Harry, Ron, Scarlett, a bunch of Gryffindors and a bunch of Ravenclaws were staring at him.

The Gryffindors seemed to be in a cheerful mood while Harry and Ron glances at him with worried glances.

"So, Arth, are you ok?"

"You ok mate?"

"Are you hurt? Do you want me to kill that bitch of a dragon?"

Arth gave a weak laugh.

"I'm ok, although, I did lose a bit of self confidence."

Ron gave him a disbelieving look.

"What? Why? You turned into a f.u.c.k.i.n.g dragon!"

"I'm last place. Plus, the dragon idea was a very stupid idea."

"IT WAS BLOODY AMAZING MATE!"

"And terribly inefficient. I shoulda summoned a broom or something."

"ITS A DRAGON FOR F.U.C.K SAKES ARTHUR! A DRAGON! YOU ARE F.U.C.K.I.N.G BADA.S.S!"

Arth shrugged.

"It was cool, but a real 'genius' would've done something simpler. I don't know why I turned into a dragon. I had so many options so why did I become a dragon? Was it because I was nervous? Was it because I was excited? Maybe because I was to entrapped with the beauty of Saphira? Well most of my other options involve me hurting the other dragon so I guess it was the correct call to become a dragon. Then again, I did harm Saphira with my teeth and claws-"

Scarlett stopped Arth and glared at him with narrowed eyes.

"Who is Saphira?"

Arth rolled his eyes.

"Saphira is the Alaskan Sapphire I fought against. We sorta exchanged names while we were fighting."

Ron sighed.

"Did you seduce her as well?"

"Huh? I just challenged her."

"Well to me, it looked like you were trying to mate. Well that's good, Scarlett would've been sad-AHHHG!"

Scarlett had grabbed Ron by the neck and lifted him up.

"Shut up Ron."

"YES MA'AM!"

"Never talk again."

"OF COURSE!"

"Shut up. No one told you to speak."

It was only after Ron nodded his head several times did Scarlett release Ron from her grip.

Arth sent back a look of sympathy.

He could understand what Ron was feeling to a personal level.

Suddenly, a witch appeared out of no where and grabbed Arth's hand.

It was Rita Skeeter. She was wearing acid-green robes today; the Quick-Quotes Quill in her hand blended perfectly against them.

"Congratulations, Arth!" she said, beaming at him. "I wonder if you could give me a quick word? How you felt facing that dragon? How you feel now, about the fairness of the scoring?"

"Yeah, you can have a word," said Harry savagely. "Good-bye."

Rita Skeeter narrowed Her eyes at Harry before disappearing out of the tent.

Arth raised an eyebrow at Harry.

"Why'd you chase her off like that?"

Harry frowned.

"I never really liked her."

Ron nodded in agreement.

"She is a lying witch. Plus she took pictures of you earlier."

Arth raised an eyebrow.

"When?"

"While you were sleeping. Scarlett chases her off."

Bagman poked his head into the tent and beamed when he saw Arth.

"Oh! So you are up! Come on Arth! We need to get going."

Arth sighed and got up before waving bye at his friends.

When Arthur reentered the tent, everything somehow looked quite different now: friendly and welcoming.

Fleur, Cedric, and Krum all came in together. Cedric grinned at Arth when he saw him.

"Good one, Arthur."

"And you," said Arthur, grinning back.

"Sick Dragon."

"Thanks, I tried my best."

"Well done, all of you!" said Ludo Bagman, bouncing into the tent and looking as pleased as though he personally had just got past a dragon. "Now, just a quick few words. You've got a nice long break before the second task, which will take place at half past nine on the morning of February the twenty-fourth - but we're giving you something to think about in the meantime! If you look down at those golden eggs you're all holding, you will see that they open. . . see the hinges there? You need to solve the clue inside the egg - because it will tell you what the second task is, and enable you to prepare for it! All clear? Sure? Well, off you go, then!"

Arth sighed.

I guess this is the start of the second task.
