Chronicles Of Arth: Prince Of Shadows
Chapter 239 - The last incentive 1
Arth glared at the judges with disbelief.
"This is complete bullshit!"
Ludo Bagman shrugged his head calmly.
"It's the rules."
"That's not fair though!"
"I mean, there wasn't a lot we could do. We had limited options."
Arth glared at the judges with an expression filled with hate and malice.
"How was I supposed to know that the "object that I'll sorely miss" was going to be in the treasure c.h.e.s.t?"
Arth remembered seeing a treasure c.h.e.s.t at the feet of the statue in the mermaid village. He had paid it no attention as he thought it was a part of the statue's decoration, but apparently, it was his object that he had to retrieve.
Mr. Crouch let out a sigh.
"Indeed, it is our fault for making it unclear where the object could be. In return, we will give you bonus points for. . . . Sacrificing your object for someone else's."
Arth sighed.
"Fine. Seems good to me. Why was I the only one who didn't have a person as an incentive?"
Immediately, all the judges wore a sour face.
"Well. . . . We were going to get Scarlett as your incentive however. . . . She managed to strangle Karkaroff, give Hagrid a nasty bite, knocked out a couple of student helpers, before escaping. We haven't seen her since last night. Because of her stupid magic resistance, we couldn't stun her either. . . . In the end, we still had to place something down there, so we just made it an "actual" object instead of a person."
Arth didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
". . . . So what even was my Incentive?"
"You'll see what it was soon enough, bow hurry up and get dry my boy."
Arth sighed before paying attention to the bundle of golden hair that was hugging his leg fiercely. Fleur's sister refused to get off of him and was currently burying her her into his clothes.
He tried to pry her off, only to be met with a small noise of denial.
Arth sighed before glancing around him.
Arth could see Madam Pomfrey fussing over Hermione, Krum, Cedric, and Cho, all of whom were wrapped in thick blankets.
Fleur was still unconscious while lying down on a bed.
"Were the grindylows that hard to beat?" mumbled Arth.
"They should be easy to beat honestly as one knows the proper way to handle them. So why did she struggle so much in defeating them- ah."
Arth forgot that during his third year, he trained the grindylow's in the lake. He had become curious about them after Professor Lupin had mentioned them in his lecture.
Arth figures that it was best to keep certain things a secret.
