#1018 - plunder
On an ancient planet, a ring suddenly appeared in the clouds, and a pillar of black light descended from the sky.
A group of native sheep-like creatures raised their heads and glanced at it curiously, then lowered them again to continue gnawing on the red grass. They had no idea what this pillar of light meant, nor were they interested in it. But what they didn't know was that at the other end of the planet, this pillar of light had already burst out of the ground, piercing the sky.
Black energy spread like a tidal wave. The next moment, the entire planet rumbled, the earth shook, and the rivers boiled. Deep, unfathomable cracks spread from where the beam landed, covering the entire planet like a spider web. Columns of fiery magma erupted from the ground, taking away groups of nearby life. The atmospheric temperature rose to a terrifying level within minutes. Looking around, all the dormant ancient volcanoes began to erupt, and large amounts of dust surged into the sky, forming dark clouds covering the planet.
The extreme temperature difference created terrifying hurricanes, which stirred up the ocean and knocked down jungles, blowing previously peaceful creatures into the sky. In an instant, the entire planet went from calm to violent!
A fawn knelt on all fours under a rock, staring at everything with wide, frightened eyes. It didn't understand what was happening, nor did it understand why the ground, which had been fine just now, had suddenly become angry. The delicious red grass had become incredibly sour. Not far from it on the ground, its mother was impaled in mid-air by a suddenly emerging rock spike, her limbs drooping. Her crystal-clear eyes still held affection for the fawn.
In the face of nature's rage, life is as fragile as an ant!
But this was just the beginning.
From a cosmic perspective, the entire planet remained largely intact. The spreading magma, dust, high temperatures, and tsunami hurricanes could not completely destroy all life. In countless caves and rocks, beneath the ice and the seabed, some tenacious lives remained hidden, waiting. They might fall into dormancy, but they also looked forward to awakening one day.
"Truly amazing resilience," the Great Sage murmured in the starry sky. "Although it's not the first time I've seen it, every time I see it, it touches me. This is primal tenacity, the resilience of origin. On these weak lives, sparks of life are jumping every minute and every second. Pure and captivating."
"Unfortunately, that is also their path to destruction," Saros replied expressionlessly, a hint of cruelty flashing in his eyes.
This was what he longed to obtain, longed to plunder. Unlike the ancient Krodirs, the Saros tribe did not possess powerful primitive cells. So, to recreate this, they needed to plunder, to kill.
What was the most powerful aspect of Krodir cells?
Not proliferation, nor division, but their terrifying, almost infinite, primitive vitality! This was the most precious treasure in the universe! Without considering metabolism and energy, the vitality of a single enhanced cell was almost comparable to that of an adult star beast. Countless cells gathered together created the Krodirs' glorious biological civilization.
But that was all in the past. The glorious Krodirs could not withstand the siege of the entire universe. And the Saros tribe, who inherited them, had to start their own path of civilization. Without the genetic blueprints of primitive cells, generations of Saros sages created them themselves! They studied countless cell samples, countless biological genes, and extracted the best codes from today's powerful organisms to add to the blueprints, finally creating the foundation of the Saros tribe.
This type of cell restored seventy percent of the Krodirs' primitive cells' capabilities, but it lost the greatest and most fundamental characteristic: strong vitality. To compensate for this, the Saros tribe made countless efforts, but there was still no progress.
But today… here…
Joy of harvest flickered in Saros's eyes. Everything was about to change… He could easily erase such a small planet, but why had he delayed for so long? It was to stimulate the primitive resilience of life little by little, until the vitality of the planet's creatures was boiling.
A wriggling mass of flesh appeared in Saros's hand.
"It's time for me to harvest."
With a flick of his finger, the mass of flesh fell into the planet like a shooting star.
The mass of flesh was very small, and it disappeared after falling into the large hole that had been pierced earlier. But in Saros's perception, he could clearly 'see' it falling continuously until it entered the core of the planet. The high-temperature magma could not stop it at all, but instead, made its vitality soar. When it reached its destination, it suddenly shrank inward, and then suddenly expanded!!
With a loud boom, the entire planet trembled violently. Countless tree-like biological tissues pierced out of the ground, instantly covering the entire planet. From above, it looked as if the entire planet had suddenly grown a layer of hair.
But that was the hair of death…
Visibly to the naked eye, around each strange tree, the corpses of dead creatures rapidly withered. Clusters of green light emerged from them and were quickly absorbed by the strange trees. The monsters trembled violently, as if they were having a carnival feast. Each time they absorbed a bit of green light, they expanded a bit, and each time they absorbed a bit of green light, they became stronger!
When all the green light from the corpses on the entire planet had been absorbed, these strange trees actually grew to hundreds of meters in height, just like ancient towering trees. The tendons on the surface wriggled crazily, revealing strange smiling faces. Then, these strange trees began to release force fields, pulling out the hidden creatures. They struggled frantically, but no matter what, they could not change everything, and were eventually thrown into the mouthparts of the strange trees, turning into minced meat under the sharp teeth. Their vitality was absorbed by the strange trees, making these terrifying lives even stronger.
When everything returned to calm, the entire planet had turned into a dead zone!! Where was there even half a 'living person'?
Under the cold rock, the fawn lay stiffly, its flesh already withered, its life force drained like its mother not far away. Its originally bright eyes had also withered into two dark holes. But in those deep holes, it seemed to still retain a love for life, and a silent accusation against fate…
In the starry sky, the Great Sage sighed. From this angle, he could see that the entire planet had changed color, its surface covered with a layer of gray fluff. Those were all energy-absorbing trees. Through these things, he could absorb all the vitality and transform it into Saros's wealth. This plunder was cruel and cold, but everything was worth it.
For the growth of the race, what did other lives matter?
"Alright, this planet is useless. Its core has been pierced, and it has been plundered by the energy-absorbing trees. Even if it is left, it cannot reproduce anymore. Saros, end its mission."
"Yes." Saros agreed and casually snapped his fingers. An invisible force field erupted from inside the planet, instantly crushing it into powder. Silently, a mass of flesh shot out from the powder and returned to his hand.
"The plunder target should be based on intelligence and toughness standards. The tougher and more intelligent, the better the effect. The creatures on this planet are too primitive. Let's go to the next planet. Intelligent creatures have already developed there, and even evolved into kingdoms and civilizations. It will definitely satisfy my baby."
Saros said calmly, as if he was talking about a trivial matter. (To be continued…)
