#290 - Shattered Will

Section 2: Shattering Will

Hark didn't continue, because at this moment, the surroundings finally changed.

Thin black fissures suddenly appeared in the air, wriggling and spreading like venomous snakes. Vaguely, the entire plain distorted, gradually transforming from three-dimensional to two-dimensional. But that wasn't the most exaggerated part; the most exaggerated part was that this plane actually engulfed Hark and the black-clothed youth, then twisted and flipped. The black fissures crawled across the plane and rapidly expanded, as if the entire virtual space was about to be torn apart.

"More exaggerated than I imagined," the black-clothed youth lowered his head and sighed softly. "Hark, you miscalculated."

Hark didn't answer, but instead opened his personal smart device with a stern face and said calmly, "Name: Hark, Code: x8771. Initiating new authority, planetary-level maximum. Requesting resource replenishment."

The smart device flickered a few times and quickly responded. As an imperceptible light wave flashed across the plain, the plain stabilized again, and countless black fissures were erased one by one. Sunlight also appeared in the sky.

However, the smile disappeared from Hark's face. He stared intently at the blood-red eyes in front of him and said in a low voice.

"What exactly is this guy trying to do? It's neither obedience nor resistance. But why is there such a violent reaction? This fluctuation of will... even my authority can't withstand it."

"This is just the beginning," the black-clothed youth replied coldly, then took out a smart device from his body and threw it to Hark. "Hark, I think you need this."

A second planetary-level authority.

Hark looked at the black-clothed youth, hesitated for a moment, and then accepted it.

That's right, he needed these. He had miscalculated by initiating the trial for Blood瞳 this time. He hadn't expected Blood瞳's will to be so strong and so overbearing, that even his authority couldn't suppress it. From the very beginning, it almost collapsed the structure of the virtual space. What would happen if it were truly completed?

Hark didn't know what choice Blood瞳 had made; he couldn't even view the Dream of Apophis. But one thing was clear: before Blood瞳 broke through, he had to maintain the stability of the virtual space, otherwise Blood瞳's spirit would be severely damaged.

"This is truly a thankless task," Hark smiled wryly and said to the black-clothed youth, "Do you think I started his trial too early?"

"..." The black-clothed youth didn't answer, but instead turned his gaze to Blood瞳.

In just this short amount of time, Blood瞳's appearance had already changed.

It was unknown when, but his body had already ignited with black flames, radiating outwards in rings. Wherever the black flames passed, whether it was grass or dirt, it was completely scorched, turning into a ground of crystalline sand. Even the constant replenishment of the virtual space was in vain. And the most terrifying thing was that the more painful Blood瞳's expression was, the more intense the black flames became. In the end, it actually formed a pillar of black flame that shot straight into the sky.

The space was once again on the verge of collapse, but in just this short while, the resources Hark had newly requested were exhausted. The earth began to shake. Looking at Blood瞳's extremely painful expression, the corners of the black-clothed youth's mouth twitched.

"I think I know what he's trying to do."

"I know too," Hark sighed, opened the black-clothed youth's smart device, skillfully mobilized new resources, and then threw the smart device back to the other party.

"Prepare yourself. If these resources are used up, it will be our turn to act. I never thought that 'Her' legacy, in this generation, would actually be a monster."

"Isn't this what you wanted to see the most?" the black-clothed youth said faintly, but a faint gray aura also emanated from his body.

Just then, a sudden change occurred.

With a loud boom, the black flames surrounding Blood瞳 suddenly exploded, like a sudden fireball that appeared on the plain. At the same time, a dark shockwave spread out, destroying everything in its path. Whether it was the plain or the sky, it shattered into dust before the dark shockwave, reverting to its original data form.

But that wasn't the most exaggerated part; the most exaggerated part was that with the appearance of the black fireball, the entire space shook violently, directly collapsing a corner. Visibly, the sky also began to burn, torn apart by black flames that appeared out of nowhere. In an instant, the entire plain disappeared without a trace, and only countless data-formed grids remained around the two.

Return to zero!? Blood瞳's outburst actually erased the appearance of the virtual space!!

"Shatter!"

"It's actually shattering!!"

Witnessing this sudden change, a gleam of light flashed in the eyes of both Hark and the black-clothed youth. They had made many guesses, but they never imagined that Blood瞳 would actually choose this path.

This almost non-existent... third path!

Shattering Will!

This was an extremely rare, no, or rather, almost non-existent choice. The evolver relied on his own will to forcibly shatter the trial. Its difficulty had already exceeded the limits of what humans could imagine.

It should be known that no matter what the trial was, it was based on the evolver's own consciousness. To put it bluntly, it was a confrontation with oneself. Either conforming to oneself or resisting oneself could obtain the key to the path of evolution. But Blood瞳's choice was neither of these, but... destruction!

He was actually trying to destroy even himself!

This was even more difficult and even more insane than overcoming oneself. This was no longer simply completing the trial, but a complete 'suicide'! In the evolutionary history of cosmic warriors, it wasn't that no one had made such a choice. But the warriors who made such a choice all ended in death.

How crazy and overbearing must this will be?

How stubborn and unyielding must this soul be?

Would he rather perish together than be weak in the slightest?

Hark and the black-clothed youth didn't know, and in fact, they couldn't consider these things now. The will heading towards destruction was powerful, and even planetary-levels like them had to take it seriously. Because this was a virtual space, any physical body or ability was meaningless. Only will could determine everything. So in a sense, Hark and the black-clothed youth weren't much stronger than the current Blood瞳.

Even if they were planetary-level.

With a loud bang, the black fireball finally exploded. A violent figure suddenly burst out from it. At the same time, a chilling mental wave spread in all directions, shaking the entire space. The black-clothed youth's authority resources had just arrived, and could only maintain stability, and could no longer restore the appearance of the virtual space.

"He's out," Hark said calmly, then opened his right hand. At the same time, the black-clothed youth made the same movement. Two invisible, yet extremely powerful, forces of will were released, fiercely pressing down on the violent figure.

This was the will of a planetary-level. Far from what the virtual space could compare to. So the violent figure was only stunned before being suppressed, firmly fixed in place.

Only at this time did Hark and the black-clothed youth see Blood瞳's appearance clearly. They couldn't help but gasp.

The current Blood瞳, where was there even a trace of human form?

At this moment, his entire body's skin was disintegrating and separating, and his entire person was like he had been fished out of a sea of blood. The snow-white bones were exposed under the red tendons. His eyes were even more blood-red. Although he was suppressed in place, he still spewed out hot breath from his mouth and nose. A wave of extreme violence emanated from his body, like a beast from hell.

"Is this guy... really human?" Even though they knew that the current Blood瞳 was actually a consciousness projection, Hark and the black-clothed youth still frowned.

As planetary-levels, they had seen too many enemies. But this was the first time they had seen a guy as violent as Blood瞳.

This wasn't to say that Blood瞳 was strong, but rather that his form was too ferocious, completely different from what Hark and the black-clothed youth had expected.

It should be known that Blood瞳 had chosen to shatter his will, so his main consciousness had already shattered and perished. What was presented before the two of them at this moment was actually Blood瞳's subconscious form. But neither Hark nor the black-clothed youth had expected that Blood瞳's subconscious actually harbored such a terrifying thing.

A vicious beast? Or perhaps a demon?

No one knew. But Hark and the black-clothed youth were both clear that if they couldn't suppress Blood瞳 at this moment, then when Blood瞳's subconscious also self-destructed, he would really have nothing left. So the two of them no longer held back, and waves of tyrannical will crossed the shackles of time and space, forcefully suppressing Blood瞳.

Blood瞳 roared and struggled, desperately fighting against the two! Only at this time did the two know how tenacious Blood瞳's will was. Even after losing his main consciousness, he still showed no sign of submission, actually forcing the two of them to join forces to barely maintain it. And because the mental waves of the three were too intense, the space around them, which only consisted of grids, shook even more, and was about to completely disintegrate.

"It seems I really made a mistake," in the void, Hark, while suppressing Blood瞳, revealed regret. "If I had known his personality was so stubborn, I should have started him on a melee-type evolution trial."

"It's too late to say that now," the black-clothed youth was also trying his best to suppress him, and answered. "He has shattered his will, we have destroyed 'Her' legacy."

"Not yet," Hark replied softly. "He hasn't completely disappeared. We still have a chance."

"You mean?"

"Send him back!" Hark nodded slightly. A captivating gleam flashed in his eyes. "Only by returning to his body can he have a chance to regain his main consciousness."

"But his current appearance..."

"We can't worry about that much," Hark took a deep breath and said to the black-clothed youth. "Let's do it."

"Understood," the black-clothed youth nodded. Immediately afterwards, he and Hark simultaneously unleashed their full power, pushing Blood瞳 out of the virtual space in one fell swoop.

The next moment, the entire virtual space collapsed with a loud crash, turning into countless chaotic data streams.

At the same time, a vortex of dark clouds suddenly appeared above the floating castle of Serraridon. To everyone's surprise, a pillar of black fire pierced out from the castle and shot straight into the vortex...

Blood瞳 slowly opened his eyes.
