Colonial Suit
#815 - The delayed edge
In the vast and boundless universe, a colossal warship moved slowly. Ancient runes, imbued with a mysterious aura, flickered across its hull, from bow to stern.
This was a warship unlike anything built by humans.
It was constructed entirely from a golden material, inlaid with countless enormous, prismatic crystals. Its massive size transcended the realm of ordinary spacecraft, rivaling even a small asteroid. Countless streams of shimmering golden energy emanated from its bow, arcing gracefully towards the stern, creating a vision of sublime, sacred beauty.
This was a noble warship. Everyone who beheld it for the first time would say so.
Indeed, it was the Saint Mar Mother Ship of the Gilnas race, a first-class war fortress in the Third World.
In the Third World, the Gilnas were not the most formidable fighters, nor the most renowned. However, they were unparalleled in the research and development of large-scale war machines, and the most loyal allies of the Aert race. In every conflict, the Aert provided top-tier combat strength, while the Gilnas supplied the massive weaponry. The two races cooperated seamlessly, becoming a model for the Third World alliance.
But this was merely on the surface. Excessively absorbed in the research and manufacture of large-scale war machines, the individual combat strength of the Gilnas was severely limited. In an era that emphasized top-tier experts, this limitation was tantamount to obsolescence. If not for the constant support and protection of the Aert, they would have long since vanished from the universe.
But today… upon this mother ship…
…an extreme sense of joy and confidence permeated the air.
On the bridge of the Saint Mar, several women clad in ancient golden armor laughed gleefully, clustered around a woman in a magnificent robe, chattering excitedly as they gazed at an object before her.
“Great Foreseer… we have finally succeeded!”
“Seven years of effort, nearly half of our civilization's resources expended.”
“It is our hope to rise again to prominence. Respected Foreseer, your vision is sharp enough to pierce the heavens, putting the Aert's greatest prophets to shame.”
“This is our future…”
“We thank you, Foreseer!”
“We extol you, Foreseer!”
“We praise you, Foreseer!”
One hopeful voice after another echoed within the bridge. The elaborately dressed Foreseer remained silent, but her immense joy was evident as she fixed her gaze upon the object before her, unwilling to look away for even a moment.
“This is hope…” she murmured, lightly brushing her fingers across the object, careful not to touch it.
Few knew that the Gilnas race in the Third World was not as glorious as it seemed. Despite the full support of the Aert, their inherent weakness in individual combat strength was a significant flaw. In countless battles over the years, the Gilnas had contributed greatly to the Aert, but had also attracted considerable animosity.
For example, in a recent conflict, they had slaughtered the human inhabitants of a mining planet to secure its resources. Although protected by the Aert, the matter was far from settled. The expansion of human power was simply too rapid. This small, insignificant race had appeared in the universe like a meteor, then spread like a plague. Their rapid growth and strength astonished even the Gilnas, who had lived through the Great Chaos Era.
The Foreseer knew clearly that the Gilnas' position in the Third World was based on their large-scale war machines. But human mechanical civilization was also adept at manufacturing such weapons. If humans were allowed to develop unchecked, they would likely squeeze the Gilnas out of the Third World.
For the glory of their ancient race, for the dignity of the Gilnas, they had always been the most ruthless towards humans in the Third World. Their hostility even surpassed that of the Aert.
However, that was all in the past.
The Foreseer gazed quietly at the object before her, a look of triumph flashing in her eyes.
“In a few months, as long as this thing appears on the Day of the Rite, our race's future will change. If any one of our members joins the Second World, we will devote our entire race's power to help her grow. At that time, our race will become true cosmic nobles, just like the Aert!”
The Foreseer stood at the captain's seat, spreading her arms and announcing with great emotion. Her words were immediately met with thunderous cheers.
But before she could show a complacent expression, she suddenly shuddered, screaming uncontrollably.
“Danger!!”
“Evasive maneuvers at full power!!!”
What??
The Gilnas responsible for piloting the warship were still caught up in the excitement, unable to react rationally. In fact, due to the protection of the Aert and the strength of their own war machines, they had not been attacked in a very long time, let alone ambushed. Ordinary space pirates would flee at the mere sight of their mother ship, let alone attack it.
However, ideals are plump, reality is skeletal.
Almost as soon as the Foreseer issued her warning, a beam of light as thick as a bucket suddenly appeared above the mother ship and pierced through it like a sword. The Gilnas' proud protective shield was as fragile as paper before this beam, broken through in an instant. Then, the beam penetrated the entire mother ship.
Within the ship, violent energy fluctuations spread like a tidal wave. Vacuum and debris killed countless Gilnas, their bodies torn to shreds.
The Foreseer stood before the captain's seat in a panic, roaring uncontrollably.
Who!?
“Who is attacking us!? Don't they know this is the warship of the Gilnas, allies of the Aert!?”
“Order the sub-ships to launch and bring him to me!”
“Yes!” Countless Gilnas warriors responded, rushing to their battle stations.
At the same time, in the starry sky an unknown distance above the warship, a space was rippling like water. Blood瞳 had just emerged and asked Robbie, who had come out earlier.
“How was it?”
“I like this armor,” Robbie replied with a smile, raising a finger, and the light turned into a stream of light at his fingertip. Then he pointed to the mother ship below.
“The power of the magic cannon is indeed worthy of being the exclusive weapon of an energy civilization. Such a simple shot pierced right through it. I think this power is almost as good as your fist.”
“By the way,” Robbie thought for a moment and added, “I feel that the target's defense is very strong. In addition to several interplanetary beings, there is even an interstellar being in charge. Are you sure you want to attack?”
“There is no need to hesitate,” Blood瞳 replied indifferently, a cold light flashing in his eyes.
“That old guy the Speaker doesn't like them. There must be a reason for not liking them. Although I don't have to be on the same side as him, anyone who dares to block us must be eliminated at this time.”
He reached out and pointed to the mother ship below, saying to his companion.
“Kill them all.”
“Leave no one alive.”(To be continued. If you like this work, you are welcome to vote for recommendation and monthly tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation..)
