Chapter 84 - Max’s Apology

“…Make up?” he asked with a puzzled expression as if he was unfamiliar with the phrase.

I looked at him and said, “A reconciliation is usually achieved when someone apologizes first.”

Max twisted his expression at my words. “Apologize? Are you saying I’m supposed to do that first?”

I gazed at him, understanding his feelings. “I know that it’ll hurt your pride and make you feel like you lost. Isn’t it just terrible?” I saw him slowly nodding at what I said. ‘I shouldn’t force them to make peace. This is my problem to begin with, after all.’ Although it was unfortunate they had become estranged from each other, I didn’t plan to coerce him into apologizing if he didn’t want to. I had already caused a big problem by telling my father I didn’t want to go meet with the crown prince, so something was bound to work out. “That’s why I don’t plan on pressuring you to apologize. You don’t have to force—”

At that moment, he cut me off and said, “Alright. I’ll apologize.”

I held his hands tightly when I heard these unexpected words. “Thank you,” I said, giving him a bright smile.

The senses of transcendent beings easily exceeded those of ordinary people. For example, Regis could easily detect a rat wandering around the building. As he listened to Jubelian and Max in the hallway, he could feel a headache forming.

‘He changed his mind? And all because of Jubelian…’ His disciple, the crown prince, possessed a rude, arrogant, and self-centered personality. However, his behavior a while ago was drastically different from his behavior over the past decade.

“If you meddle with my weakness once again, I will not sit still even if you’re my master,” he had said.

Regis narrowed his eyes. ‘Did he really change?’ However, these thoughts were fleeting because Max had just returned to the drawing room with blatant enmity in his gleaming eyes. ‘Right, there’s no way you would change.’ Now that he was thinking about it, Max had always tried to hide his weakness instead of accepting them.

“People will laugh if they discover that the imperial prince hates cucumbers,” he had once said. It was thus impossible for someone like him to accept his daughter as his weakness.

‘The bottom line is that he’s going to try to take advantage of my daughter until the very end…’ Regis stared at his disciple with an eerie gaze. ‘Do you think I’m just going to sit around and watch you do that?’ Between the master and his pupil, there was a significant difference in their swordsmanship skills. He could make his arrogant disciple kneel in front of him if he wanted to, but Regis was soon forced to soften his merciless thoughts.

“Max has something to say, Father,” Jubelian said. His boiling blood ceased the moment he saw his daughter come back with his disciple, but he still had no intentions of forgiving his disciple.

‘I’ll put up with you for now, but I won’t let you go if you try to manipulate my daughter again, Maximilian.’

Max, who saw the warning in his master eyes, smirked. ‘This confirms the fact that my blind date with Jubelian was the result of false information.’ It didn’t make sense for his master to act this way in the first place, seeing as he had always acted cautiously and quietly when it came to his daughter. Max hadn’t even known about the blind date either. And there was no way someone like the duke would’ve tried to get his daughter involved with the crown prince, who was in a precarious position. That’s why Max used Jubelian to see his master’s reaction to their relationship. Sure enough, his master had responded with a firm rejection. ‘I see. So Jubelian has some misunderstandings about the blind date, after all…’ Max’s eyes gleamed coldly. ‘And there’s no reason for me to clear up this misunderstanding.’ If they were to find out the truth, his master would only listen to his daughter’s wishes and make it so that Max could no longer meet Jubelian.

“Then I must run away,” she had once said.

Max didn’t care the slightest if people tarnished his name and called him a bloodthirsty devil. He placed his survival at greater importance than his reputation, but he was strangely upset and heartbroken at the thought of Jubelian misunderstanding him from the rumors. ‘If I reveal that I’m the crown prince after being nice to her for a while, it’ll clear up the misunderstandings.’ For this reason, Max decided to linger around Jubelian longer, which meant he had to say the words she wanted him to say.

“I apologize for what happened earlier, Master,” he said.

Regis smiled smugly when his vile disciple called him by the title he had just discarded. “I don’t have any disciples,” he said.

Max frowned at his decisive words. ‘Oh, so he’s going to play like this?’ He wanted to act like he was sorry for Jubelian’s sake, but his master’s unchanging and perverse attitude damaged his pride. Whatever he had been trying to do, he felt like he simply couldn’t do it anymore.

Max opened his mouth. “I—”

At that moment, Jubelian kneeled on the floor, causing both Regis and Max to scrunch their faces. “It’s my fault, Father,” she confessed.

I sighed as I watched the overaggressive dispute between master and disciple. ‘These guys… I don’t think they will be able to make up.’ At this rate, they were just going to continue wasting time rather than reconcile, so I decided to take an extreme measure.

‘I’ll just say that it was my fault, beg for forgiveness, and inform him that I’ll continue dating Max.’ With this in mind, I kneeled on the ground. It was probably better than standing stiffly. ‘It’s actually not that bad to kneel because of the carpet,’ I thought to myself.

At that moment, I heard Max’s stern voice. “Jubelian, I’m the one who should apologize!”

I frowned at his words.
