Ch.320 Telling the Truth (5)

He Han took Dudu's hands. "Don't worry, Mama can hear."

Then, he said to him, "Doesn't Dudu hope that he can have a real father?"

Dudu blinked his eyes in confusion and shrugged. He seemed to have accepted the fact that he wasn't going to have one long ago, and he made it clear with his childish voice.

"But Dudu doesn't have a Papa. Mama said Dudu's Papa went far away. Dudu's Papa won't come back anymore."

Ye Fan and He Han's hearts clenched at the same time. They knew that the following fact was definitely going to be hard for Dudu to accept.

How were they going to explain to a child of Dudu's age that someone who wasn't going to come back would suddenly appear?

He Han's lips were pursed into a line, and his words seemed to weigh a thousand pounds.

"Dudu, I want to tell you that I'm actually your real papa."

When He Han said these words, both he and Ye Fan sighed in relief at the same time, as if all the strength had been drained from their bodies.

The truth which had been covered up for so long was finally revealed.

Dudu's eyes widened. He did not seem to understand what was happening, but he couldn't help from biting his fingers out of anxiety.

Dudu tilted his head, eyes filled with pure innocence. His sweet voice emerged in the room.

"Uncle, are you trying to cheer Dudu up?"

Dudu didn't believe him at all. He just thought that He Han was just trying to play along with his thoughts, and that's why he said those things to him.

He Han's throat tightened, and there was a bit of hoarseness in his voice.

"I'm not lying to you, Dudu. I'm not your Uncle He. I'm your real papa."

He Han repeated himself again. He could only help Dudu accept this fact, that this was not a lie at all.

Dudu was stunned. Then, his eyes suddenly turned red. Tears began to fall from his wide eyes, then ending in an endless trail. He was sobbing uncontrollably.

More and more tears gathered on Dudu's chin. One drop of it even fell on his cartoon sweater.

Ye Fan was almost in shatters from Dudu's tears. She sat by Dudu's side, gently patting his back and trying to help him calm down.

Dudu looked at He Han while sniffling. "Uncle, do you not like Dudu at all?"

He Han's voice was hoarse. "I like Dudu very much..."

"Then why didn't you show up? Why don't you live with Mama and Dudu? Why did you want Dudu to call you Uncle?"

Dudu was sobbing terribly, and his words were in stutters. He was complaining in a small voice, feeling extremely aggrieved.

Dudu turned to look at Ye Fan. "Mama, did you know that Uncle was Dudu's Papa?"

Ye Fan's eyes were red. She did not deny it and nodded instead. "Mama knew."

Dudu's eyes widened. He felt like he was suffering a double betrayal. Both his favorite Mama and Uncle lied to him.

Dudu jumped off the sofa and ran into the room.

He had mentioned to He Han before that he wanted a papa, but he couldn't accept this fact immediately. He thought that living together with his mama was enough, but Dudu never had any hopes about this Papa who never even existed in their world.

Now that Dudu found out that He Han was his real papa, he thought that the reason why He Han never appeared all this time was because he didn't like them. He thought He Han disliked him and his mama.

The reason why Dudu wanted a papa was because of all the joy that He Han's appearance brought him. He realized that having a papa was a very happy thing.

Ye Fan's worry was not superfluous. She had been Dudu's mother for so long, she understood him best. Dudu's mind was even more delicate than other children’s.

And now, her long-held fears have come true.

Dudu could accept He Han becoming his papa, but he could not accept that He Han was the papa who was absent his whole life.

Ye Fan and He Han exchanged glances. Then, they got up and quickly headed to the room. The room was empty, but they could hear a faint sob from the closet near the wall.

At this moment, the little figure was curled into a small ball inside the closet, crying sadly.
