Dark Hunger

Chapter 43 - Lost

"Caleb, I—" Her toes curled, as a nest of butterflies fluttered in her stomach.

"Shh…" he said. "I wish to kiss you here." Caleb's fingers crawled to her chest. "These," he rasped, taking his hand to her breasts and cupping them. "Here." His hands went to her belly and then glided over her spine and then down her ass which he squeezed and groaned deep. That was all to set fire in her veins. "And that I want to lap you up in between your thighs till you scream my name."

Gods, his dirty words! Elize's mind clouded with the vision he had just painted. She didn't know what he was doing next, for he brought his lips and lightly brushed them over like sun-warmed petals that caressed a melody. His body shuddered. His eyes became heavy lidded. A deep rumble rose in his chest. And she knew that she was getting lusty, she wanted more… As if he could read what she needed, his lips brushed her more with slow torment.

When Elize's eyes locked with his, they stole her breath away. His eyes had grown darker, the pupils had dilated and they flickered a pale blue—that of a wolf. His eyelashes lowered and he tilted his head, so did his lips, perfectly fitting hers. The light brush turned into something heated. Her mouth parted a little, just enough for him to slide his lips over hers. "I've waited for this, for you," he said, his heart thudding. His admission meant that he had

Elize's fingers clutched his hair in a tight grip. She was annoyed at herself for melting into him, but what could she do if his kiss was so breathtaking and so torturous?

And then Caleb started with his ministrations. He kissed her as if he was given the most important task of the world. At first, his lips pressed her and then he licked the seam, coaxing her to part them and as soon as she parted, his silken tongue entered inside her mouth. He moaned as his right hand slid down to the side of her belly tracing every contour of her body. When he reached down, he took her leg and then hooked it behind him.

Elize was so hungry for all this that in her excitement she bit him with her fangs and a drop of his blood rolled in her mouth. A growl emanated from her as she became greedier for everything, he had to give her. She felt like she was on the edge of a cliff and that she was about to fall down. She wanted to stop. No so soon, Elize… something inside her hissed. And she was shocked, but closed her eyes to shove that voice, and focused on his tongue that stroked hers and stoked her to life.

Coppery smell and taste filled her mouth, but who was bothered. She was lost inside that dark, hypnotic space where she could only see a rainbow. She was lost in the warm breaths that famed over her, his heaving chest that met hers and those lusty, desirous, urgent strokes inside her mouth. He held her tight and then made her lay beneath him, without leaving her mouth. His hardness pressed into her belly. He rubbed it over there making her feel wanton and her heart and thoughts raced faster than a gale, too fast to comprehend.

All at once the phone on the bedside table rang. Her thoughts leashed and she pulled away. Her lips were tinged red and her chest heaved as she glared at him because she was angry with herself. The phone's persistent ringing brought her back to the present from her thunderous emotions.

Caleb cursed and reached for the phone and picked it up. "Hello!" he barked.

Elize released her breath with a sigh, and shock flitted through her when a red tendril of smoke came out with her breath from her mouth. She watched the tendril curling up and disappearing in the air. Eyes wide, she was sure that she was hallucinating. What kind of sorcery was this?

Not sorcery… the voice inside her hissed. We are your magic…

And goosebumps lined her skin as disbelief flooded her to the core. The nest of butterflies in her stomach was replaced by a knot… a heavy knot. What magic? And how was that possible?

"Hello!" Caleb barked again on the phone, as irritation spiked inside him for being disturbed. He continued to be in the same position with her beneath him. He wasn't going to release his vampire.

"Caleb!" came Auril's voice from the other end. "Stop barking in my ears, man!"

Caleb gritted his teeth. "What is so urgent?" He wanted to curse him with choicest of words.

"Laurel is in jail," said Auril, and it was not difficult to discern the buoyancy in his voice.

"Why?" asked Caleb in a cold voice. He had seen her coming to them when they had just entered the lift. He was too angry about her delay for it was because of her that Elize got into trouble.

"A group of men and women caught her and took her outside the hotel. They handed her to the Sheriff saying that she is a deranged woman!" Auril said. "The Sheriff has thrown her inside with other criminals for the night and allowed her one phone call. Since she didn't know how to use a phone, the Sheriff actually thought that she was mad, and he called me instead using information provided by her.

Caleb narrowed his eyes. He paused for a moment. "Let her stay in jail for the night. We will go and fetch her tomorrow," he said and then cut the call. When he returned his gaze to Elize, he noticed that she had turned her face away. "Elize…"

She didn't reply. Feeling dejected, he slid off her and lay beside her. Elize gulped and turned to the other side. He pulled comforters over them and pulled her to his chest.. Wrapping his arm around her, he buried his face in her neck and said, "I'm sorry…" He placed a feather kiss on her creamy skin and murmured, "Sleep, love." But Elize—
